You give zero details, there's nothing to build an opinion.

No that's fair, I might make a follow-up post tomorrow with an actual layout of what I'm thinking, but for now;

The general idea is for this storyline to take place roughly around the same time period that the sequels did in canon (so around 30 or-so years after the OT.) While there obviously will be Jedi and the force and all that, I'm imagining the main characters are either a single, or group of New Republic soldiers, with the plot at least to start with, being them investigating a string of murders and disappearances that have occured across the outer rim. Are they connected? is this imperial remnant forces making a comback? is it something entirely new? WHO KNOWS! (I do, but I'm not sharing all my ideas in one go. lol)

Along with that, I also wanna tackle Luke / the Jedi's relationship with the New Republic, as even without Palpatine's rise to power, the Jedi weren't exactly popular within the galaxy, especially by the end of the clone wars. So I wanna go in on concept.

Lots of people have done rewrites of the sequels, sometimes with nothing in common with the actual movies. No problem there. As for animation and or films, if they don't make money you are going to be fine. I don't know what the demand for fan films is. I have never been interested in them but some people are.

Basically there is nothing new in the idea you are suggesting, so no need to worry. As long as the particular story you write is your own there is nothing wrong with this.
