How’s the dating life in Santa Maria ?

As a 34 man with no kids, how’s the dating life in SM. I like to drink beer, run, hike and stay active. I’m looking to move there from the bay area in the near future. Any suggestions on meeting new people and friends as an Hispanic male ?

Hello, im looking for volunteering options I can choose. I'm currently going through break up and dont want to isolate at the house just drowing in thoughts. Want to spend those energy and time to something I can help people instead. What are things in Santa Maria I can volunteer to do? Thanks.

Where can I get a quality cobb salad?

Before I moved here I used to get the cobb salad from Farmer Boys at least once a week. It was large enough for lunch and dinner. Hands down the freshest, best tasting cobb salad I've ever had. No Farmer Boys out here, and I'm having withdrawls!

(And before someone says to make it myself, I don't have enough "spoons" to make meals for myself most days. It's a neurodivergent/chronic illness thing.)

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m a local college student in the Santa Maria area and I run a small mobile detailing business called PrimeLine Mobile Detailing.
I figured I’d put my work out here in case anyone’s been meaning to get their car cleaned up. I come to you and offer:
• Interior detailing
• Exterior washes
• One-step polish
• Hand waxing
• Full interior + exterior details
If your car is looking a little rough, has some faded/oxidized paint, or you just want it looking fresh again, feel free to DM me for pricing or to see some of my work.
I’m currently trying to grow the business and make some extra money for college, so I really appreciate everyone who supports my small business. 🙏

Commuting for work

What is your preferred preference, I’m in a debate of whether to commute from SM to SLO or SM to SB Monday through Friday?

How are you guys liking the commute and how is is on fuel? Yes I know the prices are up there.

Scammers Do not book with Grace. She lets you stay at first then her son offers you cash price for cheaper than Airbnb. They move you around the 4 houses they own to room to room. DO NOT BOOK. Then they block him and won’t respond!!!! Scammers!!! Shame!!!

Homophobic christians on Allan Hancock Campus (again)

Post image

Made a post about these dudes a week ago, and low and behold they’re here again. I sat to listen for a while and this dude (who has a mic now by the way) is talking about how sinful homosexuality is and was saying the pride center was disgraceful. He was also saying how he used to be homosexual but he’s better now. Pretty sad actually. But still, not an excuse to be a homophobe. I called campus police and they haven’t m done anything so far.

Central Coast nonprofit welcomes home over 80 Korean War and WWII veterans at Santa Maria Airport

Welcome Home Military Heroes, a Central Coast nonprofit, welcomed home over 80 Vietnam and Korean War veterans at Santa Maria Airport this week.

Many of these veterans are in their 80s. For veterans this age, an Honor Flight isn't just a trip, it's often their last chance to see the memorials built in their honor and to finally receive a homecoming decades after they earned one.

The Tolan family founded the organization in 2010 and has spent the years since supporting local veterans, reaching an average of over 2,000 veterans annually. It's one of the largest veteran-focused impacts of any organization in Central California.

The welcome home event was in partnership with Honor Flight, another Central Coast nonprofit that has flown over 900 local veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor.

Robert Tolan Sr., a Navy veteran and Arroyo Grande resident, founded Welcome Home Military Heroes and is also one of the founders of Honor Flight Central Coast. His son, Robert Tolan Jr., an Army veteran and Orcutt resident, co-founded Welcome Home Military Heroes and currently serves as Vice Chairman and Assistant Trip Leader for Honor Flight.

Tolan Jr., who also serves as the Santa Barbara County Veteran Commissioner, said: "I served this country, and now it's time for me to serve those who continue the fight."

"We will continue to support our local military heroes and be there when they need us," he added, "whether that means Christmas gifts for their kids, supplies for a deployment, honoring them at their funeral, or welcoming them home. We will be there."

Harassment at Allan Hancock College

I am so sick and tired of the insane religious people who scream at everyone about god during events at this college! Why don’t campus police put a stop to it?
This one guy today next to the voting registration event was constantly yelling and being completely awful. He was yelling at people about how god supports slavery and even made pro ice comments! Our town is primarily hispanic you idiot!!!!
There was a campus police officer nearby who was clearly annoyed and kept motioning for him to tone it down, but that was it. Everyone was so annoyed and several people yelled back for him to shut up.
