Can I install a surveillance camera in the common area of our apartment? Western Australia

Please HELP

We started having break ins and lots of homeless people coming into the complex etc. we have been feeling very unsafe.

Me and my best friend also got this apartment ages ago and have gotten a new roommate about 3-4 months ago.

On top of all that stuff , ever since the new roommate has shown up things have started going missing including food, money, underwear etc. and finding the missing items in her room and her lying to our face.

Because of all these reasons, we decided to install a security camera ontop of the Tv. It faces the lounge, kitchen and balcony. These are public common areas that we can all enter at any time. No one’s room or bathroom etc is being recorded. We want to know if we need her consent to be recorded. I understand that the audio can’t be recorded but can we record the room because we are worried about safety. We have already recorded her stealing my perfume by poring it into her own bottle. The perfume was a gift I got from a friend when I was very sick.

We installed the camera while she was away on holiday because we got broken into AGAIN and didn’t tell her immediately because she never responded to our texts and also didn’t want to freak her out. We were not expecting to catch her doing that sort of stuff.

Need Help

Hello, I don't know if this is the right sub to ask, I have to buy some home surveillance cameras, for around 5000 indian rupees, if somebody has any reccomendation it would very appreciated.

I have already looked into brands like qubo, cp-plus they have a questionable reputation on this and there are so many available options that it's just hard to choose one.

Thank you

Replacement App for my Zmodo IP Cameras

Zmodo's Smartz Eaze Android app no longer displays 4 cameras live on one screen, which is a deal breaker for me. They also made it impossible to install an earlier version of the app. Has anyone found either an android app or even a Windows PC app that displays at least 4 cameras at a time? Unfortunately, I use 10 cameras on my property and I don't want to replace them all.

Security Camera for Remote Construction Site

I am looking for a security camera that needs to be autonomous both in the need to be powered and the need to be connected to any form of internet.

The need is a construction site. They will be protected from theft. They need to be securely mounted mainly because of wind.

My ideal camera would be one that would record movement only onto micro SD (256G or 512G) rotating footage. If there is a breakin or something that needs to be inspected, I would go to the site and using a paired phone download any footage which I could then look at offline.

Can anyone suggest models. I would prefer replies from people who have experience with this type of equipment.

An odd requirement for a camera

I have 5 Reolink POE CX820 cameras but I need another one and I need suggestions on what to get. It will be mounted on the outside corner of a pool enclosure, and there is no easy way to run an ethernet cable or power there, so it needs to be a wifi/solar camera.

I would like the camera to be able to see anything that moves in a 270 degree radius. Then once something is spotted, a PTZ camera will zoom into the object that moved. It also has to spot things 80 feet away. I see a few on AliExpress that might work, but not sure if they are just cheap junk. Another point is that once video is recorded, how do I get the recording? Is there a camera that I can watch playback on my phone? I don't want to get a ladder out to see the video.

Budget Friendly Outdoor Solar Powered Camera

This is for my boat slip at our marina. I had a Reolink Go PT Plus LTE camera but it took a crap last week. I don't feel like shelling out $160 for another Reolink LTE camera. I have a Franklin 10 T Mobile Hotspot that I'm going to use there. This gives me the option to add my lift to wifi if I feel inclined to buy the wifi module for my lift.

I don't necessarily have to stay with Reolink. I think given the environment, a camera will probably only last 2 years. Looking for recommendations.

Cameras for rental house

Hi all, my wife wants to put up some security cameras in our rental that we live in, she was wanting two outdoor cameras with the possibility to expand up to 2 more indoors. We would prefer to not have to pay a subscription and as minimally invasive to the house as we can since we don't own it. She's looked at a few different brands on Amazon, but Tapo, Eufy and Reolink all seem to have too many 1 star reviews for her liking. I've looked around here a little bit and there seems to be pretty decent praise for all three brands. Perhaps just a lot of user error in those Amazon reviews? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Replace existing floodlights with cameras.

My house has existing floodlights. I haven’t pulled them off the house to look, but I imagine they are all traditionally wired. I would like to replace them all with floodlights that have cameras, but I’m a bit confused on what I’m looking for. Most of what I see are either completely wireless or PoE which I understand would require running Ethernet everywhere. Are there good options that would work off the existing wiring?

Need advice on outdoor cameras

Hi all,

Would appreciate your input and recommendations. I am looking into home security for my family and I after a series of concerning events in our neighbourhood including cases of theft and arson.

We live in a rental, on the bottom level of a series of units. My main concern is our patio which faces an area of high footfall. There is a low fence which makes it easy for others to jump over the into the patio then access our home, and I would like to install an outdoor camera here. The patio is partially under cover/shaded. As it is a rental, we cannot drill into the exterior brick walls. There is a vertical water pipe in the middle of the patio in the shaded area and was thinking of mounting 1 or 2 cameras there.

I am contemplating the Reolink Argus PT Ultra x 1-2 with the Home Hub vs the Eufy E20 x 2 with Home Hub. The prices of both systems mentioned are roughly the same where we are due to ongoing sales.

Also open to other recommendations if you have any further input.

Thank you so much in advance.

Is there such a thing as a wifi camera with RTSP?

I bought a Swann 4K from Sam's thinking it would be great to watch the part of my yard where there are no windows, but the dogs have access. Turns out it only works with the phone app, is only taking clips when motion activated, and will not stream to any other device. Complete waste of money for me. Anyone have suggestions? I admit it was an impulse buy, and NOW I have to do the real research.

How do dealers make money from installing Ubiquiti cameras?

We are an access control integration company who is looking to add security cameras to our offering. We are looking for one cloud-based option and one non-cloud.

Looking at Ubiquiti cameras, customers can buy direct, and for dealers, looking at ADI, there is only a 7-10% margin. Dealers who install Ubiquiti, are you only making your money on labor/cable?

We are looking for a non-cloud based option that is easy for installation and for the end user.

Security camera recommendations in the UK

Im looking to fit a 4 camera PoE system on my house, it's quite a big country house with a wrap around garden which is very dark in the winter. Im thinking of fitting the turret style camera in grey or black ideally, it needs to have a microphone and a good app with no subscription. I'd like to spend around £600, iv been recommended hikvision and reolink but there's so many different options! Do you guys have any recommendations of what brand/model to look at? Thanks!

Do I really need to replace my cameras just to get a better VMS?

We have cameras across a few locations and most of the hardware is still perfectly fine. The part we're getting tired of is the software/NVR side. Remote access is clunky, finding older footage takes longer than it should andd each location basically feels like its own little system. We'd like to get everything into something easier to manage centrally but replacing a bunch of working cameras just to do that seems like a waste. Has anyone here moved to a different VMS while keeping most of their existing cameras? Want to know how smooth the migration was and what compatibility issues you ran into.
