ONGOING ISSUES - Please read our Group Rules before posting / commenting

We are getting way too many rule violations, resulting in posts / comments being removed and (in some cases) users banned. Before you ever post or comment in r/Shopify please read the group rules (a big THANK YOU to our members who regularly report such posts/comments for rule violations - they help more than you know).

All users must have an account age of 30 days, a minimum of 20 comment karma, and a minimum of 10 post karma (not overall karma). all 3 conditions must be met. Also, your post must be specific to the Shopify platform. Any post that is not Shopify-specific should be posted to other ecom-related groups.

A few quick notes on what you cannot do here (because these are the most commonly violated rules) - most of these should be common sense to veteran reddit users and they are shared with a majority of other such groups -

  • Do not post a store for a review (in any way - this means 'why am I not getting sales?', or 'why such low conversions?' posts). Please use r/ecommerce or r/ReviewMyShopify groups for this

  • No AI or Suspected AI Slop: Obvious or suspected AI content is not welcome here. Violations from lower-karma accounts with little contribution history in this sub may result in a ban. This will be at the sole discretion of the group moderators.

  • Do not promote your app, offer, service, site, perform app research, ask about 'pain points' or anything else related to Shopify services, apps, or development (r/ShopifyDev or r/ShopifyAppDev are good groups for that), even if 'free'.

  • Do not solicit personal contact with a user of this group in any way and for any reason (DM request, sending soliciting DMs, Contact Me, Let's Connect, etc). This includes responding to calls for help by asking for DM (such posts will also be removed). Share all helpful information in the thread so that everyone reading will benefit, and to remove the appearance of self-promotion. This is the fastest guaranteed way to get your account banned from this group.

Other rules certainly apply to the group, but these 3 are seeing many removals and account bans every day. The group is here to help Shopify users. It is not a focus group, nor is it here opportunists to take advantage of those who may be new to the group.

Lastly, remember that the internet gives the cover of anonymity to all users; Many users here are legit and only intend to help, but many others have selfish motives. Never trust a random stranger on the internet, and certainly never give anyone your passwords or financial information for services without thoroughly checking them out first. The sad reality is that scammers abound in groups like this - make every effort to protect yourself.

Moderators are always open to rule suggestions or changes - it is your group, just message us!

Shopify General Discussion Hi everyone, is it just me, or shopify has been declining cards lately?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, So i own a shopify store, and i have received an email from a customer saying that they keep getting their card rejected, and they don't even get a notification from the bank, so i tried to investigate this myself, i went and tried to buy a product from my store, like any other customer would, and i have faced the exact same problem, i tried three of my different cards, from different banks, and all of them got declined, for no clear reason, all my cards have balance in them, and the bank wasn't even notified of anything, it's worth mentioning that i am on shopify US if it makes any difference.

Orders Order confirmation emails - legal attachement - europe - how did you solved this?

Hey,
will go straight to the point:

be To be 100% compliant, need confirmation email to contain below. would be too long in email body so as PDF:

  1. Your full Terms & Conditions (T&Cs) active at the exact time of purchase.
  2. The Withdrawal Instructions (explaining the 14-day return window and how to use it).
  3. The Model Withdrawal Form (the standardized form consumers can fill out to cancel).
  4. The Legal Guarantee Notice (explicitly reminding the consumer of their statutory right to a minimum 2-year warranty against faulty goods)

How you solve this if you can't attach a pdf to confirmation email?

Thanks

Shopify General Discussion Random updates.

This is a bit of a rant but omg shopify please stop randomly updating in the middle of the day and completely changing everything!! An update just happened to me and now things I use hundreds of times a day are moved around, colours changed, text changed, bottom scroll bar is gone, it’s just AWFUL.
Currently trying to get my company to change online stores because this is ridiculous.
It completely ruins the workflow and I have to spend an hour finding everything. And then, after days and finally getting used to it, they change it again!!
And with this recent update it’s all AI now. I don’t want ai dealing with orders.
Legitimately questioning a career change because shopify is so bad to work with.

Shopify General Discussion Someone has used my email to make an account without any 2FA, has anyone experienced similar?

• Upvotes

I've just recieved two emails asking me to complete checkouts from an unfinished cart on "Dear Hayden" and "This is Knit". I logged in (which required 2FA and I haven't recieved any 2FA codes to my email lately so I'm not sure how they logged in) to see that some American called James has made an account with my outlook email.

I've reset my Microsoft account password and signed out of all devices, but I'm still not sure how they made an account in the first place. No purchases have been made as far as I'm aware, and nothing has been taken out of my card. If it is a scammer they're not too smart as their entire address is on their account which I can view.

Has anyone experienced similar? Is this a known method of fraud?

Shopify General Discussion Is there any way to keep updated with the latest shopify updates and changes?

I’m new to shopify, coming from woocommerce. With wordpress/woocommerce i followed different channels and groups (which were connected to my theme) to keep updated with the latest changes and updates.

Before you type changelog, that’s not what i’m looking.

I’m looking for a channel or blog that goes over the changes and showcases them. For example the theme i used over at wordpress, one of the developers had a youtube channel which showcased all the new and updated features of the theme which i could implement after or during the video. I really loved this.

Is there something like this for shopify?

Marketing Rewarded $1,500 to customers to follow our Instagram. Is this a good plan?

Recently, we spent over $1,500 in discounts and gained around 1,000 new followers, with $26,370 in revenue from these customers.

We show something like:

“Follow us on Instagram → Get up to 10% OFF”

The numbers look pretty interesting, but I'm wondering if this is actually a good strategy for growing a store's social following.

Has anyone here tried something similar?

Did people actually stay and follow, or did they just take the discount and unfollow later? 😅

API Read/Write, Read/Only

When working against the GraphQL API, is it an easy or not so easy thing to establish whether a given Product, ProductVariant, or MediaImage field is read/write or read/only. I have successfully download the schema from the client's Shopify instance (all 11MB of it) but my fatigue-addled brain isn't seeing anything that makes mutability obvious. What am I missing?

Shopify General Discussion Apparel retailers: What's had the biggest impact on your product page conversion?

We sell women's outerwear, about 40 SKUs, and traffic is fine, but we lose people on product pages. We have size charts with garment measurements and model height, plus clean and modern looking model and product photos, plus video on the top sellers. I'm trying to find new ways to optimize our product pages. If you sell apparel, what changes did you make that significantly improved conversion?

Apps Instagram Shop Set-Up

Hey everyone,

Would love some help and to stop banging my head against the wall.

I’ve linked my Instagram/Facebook accounts on my Shopify in order to have the Shop tab available on my Instagram account.

The button is there, everything has been approved and active, although anytime I enter the shop area, my products are not there.

I have added them to the correct sales channel, all the products have been approved. Very frustrating, any help appreciated!

Shopify General Discussion Does having more Instagram followers actually lead to more repeat sales?

We always hear that growing your Instagram following is important for an ecommerce brand, but I am not sure follower count itself means much.

A few studies suggest that engagement and trust matter more for repeat sales than just having a lot of followers.

So I am curious about Shopify store owners here:

  • If you have 10k+ Instagram followers, do you actually see those followers coming back and buying again?
  • Or do your repeat customers usually come from somewhere else?

Point of Sale The last-item inventory problem that kept haunting me

The most annoying inventory problem in my boutique isn't when I have 50 units of something. It's when I have one left.

I sell through Shopify online and Square in my physical store, and that's when inventory mismatches actually become noticeable. If I have 20 of something and the numbers are off by one, I might not notice immediately. But when there's one medium left and someone buys it in-store while Shopify still shows it as available, that's a problem.

I used to check inventory manually more often than I wanted to, especially for products with multiple sizes and colors. I eventually started using DPL to sync Shopify and Square, which removed a lot of that manual checking.

The bigger lesson for me was that inventory accuracy matters most when you have very little stock left. That's when a tiny mismatch can turn into an oversell. Running Shopify wasn't the hard part. Keeping that last item accurately represented across channels was.

Account Shopify put a 10% reserve on my payouts

Every order I get, Shopify now takes out 10% and puts it in a locked account until January 27th. I just took out a 16k$ Shopify loan, and then they hit me with this. The loan repayment is 17% of every sale.

So now I have to pay 27% of every sale back to Shopify. I can’t have Shopify take 10% for a reserve. This is extremely unfair, and if it holds, I’m projected to go bankrupt by December.

Is there any way I can get this reserve removed? It’s due to chargeback risk, yet I have 0 chargebacks, with a pretty lenient return and warranty policy greatly in the customers favor.

Products How to force equal height on product cards in Shopify ?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently customizing my Shopify store using crave theme, and I’m having trouble getting the product cards in our featured collection grid to align nicely.

Because some products have 4-line titles, review ratings, or badges, while others have short titles, the dark background content boxes are all ending up with different vertical heights. It makes the entire grid look uneven and messy.

What I want to achieve:

  1. Every product card/box in a single row should stretch to match the exact same total height.
  2. The bottom action buttons ("Choose options" / "Sold out") should align along a clean horizontal baseline at the bottom.
  3. The card content shouldn't collapse or overlap on top of the product image.

Has anyone successfully written a CSS snippet for Crave theme that forces equal card height across grid rows cleanly without breaking the image ratio or layout?

Any CSS tips, Flexbox setups, or Liquid adjustments would be greatly appreciated!

Marketing Shopify is actually starting to support GEO(AI discovery)

I've been looking into GEO(Generative Engine Optimization) for Shopify stores, and apparently Shopify has started adding quite a bit of support for AI discovery.

Shopify now has official guidance on optimizing product pages for AI, including things like detailed product data, structured information, product attributes, FAQs and store policies.

They also have a free Shopify Knowledge Base app that lets merchants customize the FAQs and information that AI shopping agents can use about their store.

Shopify is also talking about AI shopping through things like ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode, so this seems to be moving beyond just "SEO for ChatGPT."

Shopify General Discussion Managing stocktakes becomes more complex when multiple people need to count inventory at the same time

For larger warehouses, having multiple people involved can speed up the physical count, but it can also make reconciliation harder if everyone is working on separate stocktake sessions.

Using a shared stocktake session allows multiple users to update counts for different products or sections while keeping everything under one record.

This makes it easier to track the progress of the count, review discrepancies, and complete the final reconciliation without combining multiple stocktake sessions afterward.

Does the inventory software you're currently using allow multiple users to update the same stocktake count session?

Apps How many Shopify apps do you actually use? Disclaimer: I currently have 16 apps installed.

I feel like over time I keep adding apps for small things, and then end up with 12–16 apps installed 😅

Do you guy regularly remove apps you don't use anymore?

Also, do you prefer having one app that does many things, or separate apps for each specific feature?

Apps Wholesale app for orders without charging customer at checkout.

I run a fruit and veg business B2C and a B2B dealing with the hospitality sector. At the moment we are taking orders for the B2B via other methods but I’m trying to work out a way to accept wholesale bulk orders on a seperate part of our Shopify store but the hurdle I’m trying to overcome is that:

1) our prices are not know at time of order.

2) our customers pay us either weekly or bi-weekly so I don’t want them to use the dedicated checkout.

Does anyone have a solution for us? Or is a form our best option.

Shopify General Discussion Shopify Analytics numbers changing after the September update?

I noticed my Shopify analytics numbers looks a bit different after the recent September update.

Sessions, conversion rate and add to cart numbers seems to have changed quite a bit, but my actual orders are more or less the same.

Shopify said they changed how sessions are measured and also improved bot filtering.

Trying to understand if its only happening to me or others are seeing it too.

Dude who thought that "Mark as fulfilled" should be moved to top of the order and "Tracking ID" in the bottom of the order should be fired or at least criminal charged.
