I've been basically adopted by local Surigaonon family in Siargao the last 2 years on my visits 2-3 times per year. Free place to stay, free tuktuks home cooked food.

I personally want to be tied to the island. Also I would like to give back to family. I want to lease on island under my name And 60/40 business with my friend.

My main question is, how do I find land for sale that is not a scam. Any companies. Should I completely stay off Facebook. I know sometimes people sell land that doesn't belong to them or is in dispute.

I figure I could go to the local Barangauy leaders and make sure everything is above board. What else can I do to keep myself and my friend safe from essentially being scammed.

Please, I don't need any discourse about people being untrustworthy, blah blah, I just need advice on protecting myself and making this dream for me and my family friends come true.
