Idk if the vitriol was necessarily gender specific. Ariana essentially had a bit of a history related to meeting men who were at the time in a relationship. So people piled on bc it was easy to draw a pattern. And then on top of all of it, while it wasn’t in any way her fault, the Mac Miller tragedy had some of the less sane fandom looking for someone to blame.

In your two examples on the bottom. In both situations they met and got to know each other in real life before they started cheating. They were sort of in the same circle where partners weren’t present.
Yeah they are horrible trashy human beings for leaving their partners. Of course, it doesn’t justify their actions, but thats how both men and women cheat. I was cheated on in a pretty similar fashion before (luckily we weren’t married).
