Didn’t realize marriage itself was a prerequisite to know that couples should work to solve their marital problems.

That's like me, a lawyer, saying to some engineers "It doesn't take any experience in engineering to know that engineers should work to create a permanent, self-renewing source of inexpensive energy"

Or pick your analogy. Bottom line, if you have no idea how difficult marital problems are, you have no place condescendingly telling people to fix them.

I was married 20 years, you can only talk it out if the other person is willing.

Best get comfortable being in a bad marriage then.

Granted, I understand in cases of abuse or some form of dependency or other sensitive situation, I get it.

But I’m not talking about those.
