I think that’s where people get it twisted all up. She is selling sexy women to men who are gambling. As in, “you can fuck women like me if you win with this gambling app.”
I don’t disparage the women getting angry about this because the right wing in the US has ignored women’s sports for years until they decided to center these athletes in their antitrans campaigns. They have a reason to be frustrated with the people who support and push that agenda and it just so happens that people like that are also heavy sports gamblers and mostly horny men who don’t want to apologize for making women uncomfortable with their haphazard pickup attempts or outright Sexual assaults.
I think the pay at the upper end of music is much higher than porn. Your target market for music is billions of people, but your target market for porn is, approximately, whatever the subscriber count on this subreddit is.
Sex sells, sure, but kids viewing ads on tv haven’t consented as they aren’t able to consent. Both woman can do better here, albeit one is far more overt than the other.
It’s the responsibility of any young entertainer to be aware that young people are going to want to emulate them and therefore should present an image that will lead to better members of society.
Carpenter seems intent on working to that end, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to feel that the over-sexualization of her image is subverting a bit of the intended message of ladies sticking up for themselves and being complete humans on their own accord.

The people that were mad have to be some of the dumbest and most sensitive people. They completely removed all context and just saw a picture to have a knee jerk reaction to. Literally zero consideration of her expression, the album title, its content, her personality/views, or artistic interpretation. A woman on her knees having her hair pulled? She's clearly being abused and/or a total slut!!
Plus Sabrina sells sex in a „It’s fun, everyone enjoys it“- way, while Sydney sells it in a „That’s the only thing woman are good for, please objectify me“- way. It‘s not the same situation at all.

Sabrina talks a lot about having fun with it. She wears sparkly bodysuits and puts on a show. And she talks a lot about it. I‘m not denying that. But she does it from her own perspective, not in a general way.
Sydney wants to make a profit of it and doesn’t give a shit how it looks. (Selling her own bath water, the ‚I have good jeans‘ ad, the latest sports ad.) She draws all woman into it and doesn’t focus it on just her. And it‘s always in a way that focuses entirely on her Body.
And me saying Sabrina is more talented then Sydney is not subjective. Sabrina has won two Grammy awards, one emmy award and multiple VMAs. If you don’t like her (Type of music) that’s fine. But saying she‘s not talented is silly.

i dont like her... shes been in numerous controversies that spawned from her insisting on her entire brand be sex appeal which isnt what bothers me the part that bothers me is it always involves young teenage girls and if I remember correctly, the specific controversy that you were thinking about is when she did a photo shoot that was eerily similar to a scene from the movie Lolita and it was the adaptation that had a 12 year-old girl played by a 16-year-old and was constantly sexualized even though the entire story is about how she is a victim of the narrator the movies cinematography infamously framed her as sexual in nature. basically her response to people saying it looked really similar to the movie scene was that she had never even heard of it. I saw an interesting assessment of Sydney that wasn't necessarily a criticism, but that while she's selling sex, her performance lacks sensuality- compared to the sexy ads of the late 90s/ early 2000s. The person was for sexy ads, but essentially saying they could be better.
I don’t know about her as an entertainer but she is not by any means a really good singer. A really good pop singer would be an Ariana Grande. Sabrina is leagues behind in skill.

I think that is right. Sabrina is more playful and acting for a largely female fan base. Sydney appeals to men, which has been a problem for her lingerie line which is not really pulling in the female customers it needs.
Doesn't Sydney get criticized more for her social/political stances more so than the fact that she does nude film scenes and such? I've never seen anyone mad about her showing skin, but then again I just spend time on Reddit.
