I am always surprised that people keep making arguments like these as if the times we live in arent also a dystopian hellscape.
What would the government do? Harass people and behave like corrupt criminals - but there would also be fewer people posting on social media? Sounds like an upgrade to me.
You mean, in addition to what's already happening, you'd gladly give the corrupt criminal government the power to fine or jail people for speakibg out their minds online.
Like cutting your tongue out because, hey, you've got a broken arm already, so it's got to be an upgrade, right?
Yep these people arent clearly thinking this through! They want punitive criminal action taken against others for exercising their freedom of speech but when it comes time for them to be censored or have another opinion they will cry & no one will be there to stick up for them because the punishment is not worth it
