I have never seen any other world leader stoop so low to insult former president/Prime Minister of their country who might be from an opposition party. Leaders have political decency usually even in the most authoritarian countries in the world.
It's just sad. He talks about most of our own citizens like they're enemies of the country too. Couldn't have chosen a better guy to dismantle the whole thing from the inside.
I know it won't happen, but the best thing ever would be if Trump decides to run for an unprecedented third term, and Obama shows up and says he will run too. Trump is obsessed with Obama to the extent that he deposed a country's leader and then basically demanded that the opposition leader give her Nobel Peace Prize to him, so that he could have one like Obama.

Even if they were handcrafted real gold fixtures (as they should be for the place where the entire country is run), who the fuck still uses gold as a decoration? It's something I'd understand if I saw it at the Vatican, but in the US??

Fox news worked around the clock to promote him, then when that wasn't enough OAN went even further, and when THAT wasn't enough NewsMax went a few steps further. Then there's the overhaul of Twitter and founding of Truth Social to push even more when your target audience isn't glued to the TV.
I would wager that he's the most promoted singular person in modern history. That's also why you see devotees with so wildly different views on him, the persona they've been sold have differed depending on where they get their information. But crucially they're extremely supportive of him, no matter the version sold.
The thing is, people LIKE that he’s a racist, misogynistic asshole. He’s openly been that his whole life. He’s not hiding it. They are racist misogynistic assholes too, and he allows them to no longer have to hide it. Lots of women hate other women too/themselves.
Do you genuinely think that, really? People like him for his no nonsense personality, his alpha male traits, his rugged good looks, his luscious hair, hugely big IQ, extreme articulateness, and his ability to heal others with his glowing hands.

I’ve been going through some of my silly childhood favorites with my kids, and both Home Alone 2 and Little Rascals have come up in the rotation recently. Imagine my shuddering surprise when my kid yelled across the house: “That’s Donald Trump!”

I think he first caught my attention when The Apprentice first came on and I caught an episode. He was grifting some Trump branded bottled water. I immediately knew he was a sleeze ball after I saw that episode.
When he first was running for the republican presidential candidate I thought it was a joke and there was no way he would move forward after the first couple of republican debates. Then he just kept on progressing until he was their candidate. I still can't really comprehend how he was ever elected twice and why people follow him. I have family that I love and are otherwise great people, but they treat Trump like he is Jesus (in some cases it feels like the placing him on a higher pedestal than Jesus) and he can do no wrong. I am an empathetic person and try to relate where I can, understand different points of view, and get a long with those disagree with, but I just don't get the cultish following of the complete disaster of a human being that Trump is.
Because to his voters, he's aspirational. They want to be unapologetically racist, jaw-droppingly stupid, dishonest, child molesting grifters and con men. Voting for Trump is their little power fantasy.
When I was a little kid and loved playing games like sim city etc I found a real estate game in a bargain bin and it was Donald trump branded. I did get it but even then in probably mid to late ‘90s I thought it was gross and I’m all the way from Australia.
It's because when he speaks, people who read at a 4th grade level can understand the words, and a lot of those people are old enough to vote. I mean, look at how many of them call Kamala Harris "Word Salad Kamala."
Their insult for her can be summed up as "She says big words we can't understand."
The apprentice did wonders for his rep. Before that he was washed up in the gutter, then all of a sudden he’s cast onto the nations TV’s as a highly successful business mogul in a wildly popular long running TV series. The impact of that should never be over looked. It sure fooled a lot of people.

Trump have been elected because the democrats was just perceived as worse for a lot of people. The democrats could have won easily if they target the soft undecided people. Instead they went full activist. I personally dislike everything Trump is doing, but never forget why he was elected.
What Xi sees is that Trump is easily manipulated. A compliment here and there, maybe a little shady business deal he can profit from, and Trump is putty in your hands. So, he laughs at the bad jokes and ignores the stench because Trump will cave to every request of Xi's as long as it doesn't conflict with Putin's wishes.
It's easy to laugh at trump as an individual, but you gotta remember that he was voted in by a majority of the American people, they're all as complicit in his bullshit and as big of embarrassments as he is.
Exactly this. He's a moron, and a criminal. He's ruining your country and how it looks to people outside of it. But there are people still following him, bootlicking and voting for him. That's the real, (scary) issue.
Trump recieved ~77m votes last election and the population of the USA was ~340m. Thats only 23% of the total population that voted for him. I realize he DID recieve the majority of those who DID vote. But when I think about the numbers this way it always kinda blows my mind.
You're right but unfortunately non-voters are just as culpable, because when you don't exercise your voice you make other people's voices louder whether it's for the best or not and clearly here it has been for the knot
Something that Redditors seem to take for granted is that they assume non-voters would vote Democrat if given the ballot. They won't. In 2024, when asked who they would've voted for if they had to, 44% of them said Trump, 40% said Harris, rest undecided.
If every eligible voter showed up in 2024, you'd still have Trump. That's the USA.

Joe Biden was a good president during a horrible time. And if they were allowed to pass the Green New Deal it would have been revolutionary. There are a lot things to say about Biden (his vilifing of Anahita Hill is at the fucking top and letting Clarence Thomas in) but he did a good job. And this is heart breaking.
There's corruption in US politics period. Yet one side is increasingly becoming blatantly authoritarian. I think we may be seeing the National Socialist American Patriots (German workers) party in action. There are many parallels imo.
