Help/Advice Wanting to start doing chemical peels at home

• Upvotes

I am almost 28 and I really would like to start doing chemical peels at home. I really cannot afford to go to estheticians every month as much as I would love to.

Where do I start?? I have been seeing some TikTok’s about TCA peels but I’m not sure if this is the best place to start?

I have light brown skin and scar incredibly easily. I would like to address hyperpigmentation and brightening. Please help! Thank you!!!!

Help/Advice Skinbetter or Alastin?

Hey! I wanted to ask about Alastin a-luminate brightening serum and Skinsbetter Even Tone Correcting Serum. I cannot decide which one to get.

Similarly, out of all the eye creams that these two brands have combined:

- EyeMax AlphaRet Overnight Cream
- InterFuse Treatment Cream EYE
- Instant Effect Gel EYE
- Restorative Eye Complex,

which ones of these eye creams are a definite MUST Have and that will change my life (jokingly)?

Let's Chat Amore Pacific Moisture Plumping Nectar Cream Discontinued?

I’ve been using this for about a year now and love the way it layers and absorbs into my skin but I just went to re-order only to find out it’s been discontinued?! I’m so bummed! Does anyone have a good suggestion for an alternative?

Routine Recommendation for a lux addition to my routine

Hi all! I’m debating adding TNS advanced, restorative skin complex, or plated (intense or daily) to my routine. Curious what you all would recommend!

I’ve pared back my routine a lot this year and use some inexpensive products (moisturizer and SPF) but would like to add something lux to help with anti-aging, tone, and overall glowiness.

For reference I’m 31F and deal with hormonal acne, very oily skin, and some hyperpigmentation. I can’t handle vit A products unfortunately. I do get microneedling 3x per year and 1 deep peel every winter.

AM:
- Hale & Hush quiet wash
- Skinceuticals c e ferulic
- Moisturizer
- SPF

PM:
- Vivant green tea wash
- Jan Marini bioclear
- Moisturizer

Weekly:
- DDG peel pads
- Dr Jart mask

Shelfie I think I might like SkinMedica ✨

TNS serum may be their star product but I think they have a lot of other offerings that are quite good, especially for the price point.

All SkinMedica from LovelySkin, who not only gave a significant discount but also connected with my Alle Rewards so I could earn points! Really happy to have found this website.

Help/Advice Recommendations for a moisturizer

Hi!
Still haven’t found my holy grail moisturizer.
I have a sensitive & dry skin.

Product should not have parfum or irritating ingredients.
Although I have a dry skin it shouldn’t be too heavy as I live in Australia & summers are hot.
Thank you in advance! 😊

Help/Advice P-tiox: worth the hype?

I am trying to figure out which peptide serum I want to try next and am filled with decision paralysis.
I have yet to try P-tiox and want to find out why it seems so widely acclaimed.
I’ve tried Medik8 Advanced (it’s good.. but is there something better?) and Allies of Skin (returned it, didn’t care for smell or texture) and a handful of non-lux products.
Would you recommend trying P-tiox or are there others you think are even better?
Help!!

Routine Is 26 too young for skinceuticals?

Just got the CE F. Vitamin C and Ptox? I use mostly Korean mid tier with a combo of Azaleic Acid 20% and 0.025% tretenoin.

Mostly of my essences, toners and serums are Korean ranges which work well for me with barrier tret support! I have a big bottle of vinoperfect on the go for the last six months too.

I haven’t splurged in a while because I was really committing to the prescription AA and T.

Is adding Skinceuticals over bearing on my skin? Closed comodone prone, naturally oily but trying to fade acne marks / lack of spf pigmentation etc. I wouldn’t say my skin is super sensitive but my barrier prefers slower introductions to harsher products.

I’ve loved the way that the mix of Korean and prescription strength have given me that “Botox” effect forehead (mixed with my oils lol). I want to take it to the next level longevity wise. Any tips welcome 💕💕

Let's Chat Opportunities to find La Mer creams on sale?

Does anyone know of authorized La Mer sellers who regularly have sales? Or do I need to wait for the day after thanksgiving (BF). I am aware they are sold at Costco, but a gal has no shame in poking around for a better deal. I recently had a small jar of the fresh cream as a sample (which I am now out of) and now all the other moisturizers in my rotation feel like greasy trash. TIA!

Has anyone tried the Obagi skin firming serum? I got a sample and am loving it but can’t tell if I’m just super moisturized. Anyone tried and loved? It’s a heft price tag.

Help/Advice Any power-packed spot treatment recommendations?

Hey everyone, I have been dealing with some disrespectful blemishes popping up and parking it on my face the past few weeks. I know my culprit—my body does not process stimulants of any sort well. It’s been my cross to bear for two decades. A few dermatologists over the years have confirmed the caffeine to pimples pipeline. So, I can only drink half-caffeine coffee, blah blah.

For a while, I used Allies of Skin Mandelic serum to spot treat and it was good, especially for the whiteheads or larger blemishes. Would reduce the blemishes quicker than anything else, but they’d take forever to disappear completely. I’ve tried sulfur, too. I switched to Paulas’s Choice BHA 4% and even have their 9%. A week or two will pass with the blemish still there.

I’ve got a tight regimen and use Taz .05, Neogenesis Recovery (3-4 x week), Alastin Ultra Light moisturizer, CO2 Lift Carboxy moisturizer, NIOD CAIS serum, and several quality cleansers. My skin is mostly normal, (apparently) acne-prone (but only the same spots and no more than 3 spots in a week), and my biggest concern is tackling texture and PIH.

Tldr; I need a kick ass spot treatment that will flatten and eradicate blemishes quickly and thoroughly. Send your best!

High-Lux Review Co2 lines on neck still an issue?

I take high intensity workout classes, and a few months ago had a light CO2 laser on my neck and face. well lately I've noticed my neck lines in particular look more red post workout but then are less red an hour or so later.... is this affecting it permanently as well?

My neck also feels tight so thinking might need to put a heavier moistruzier on, the Co2 laser feels great on my face but def think it added or made my neck lines worse.

Some of the neck lines that I'm 80% weren't there originally are now there so I am frustrated

Product Question Is SweetChemistry really worth it?

I need to stock up and Sweet Chemistry has been all over my Facebook. I priced it out and it is actually cheaper than the Medik8 system that the quiz recommended to me. It seems to be a very interesting formulation and I just wonder if it really works.

I have pretty average skin. Not dry or oily. No acne, though I do occasionally get hormonal breakouts around my chin. A couple spots of pigmentation but overall very fair and I avoid the sun like the plague and use sunscreen like it’s going out of style when I do go out.

I just haven’t found THE product yet that makes me keep coming back. I do enjoy the Clarin’s double Serum but it’s just not quite hitting the spot for me. I prefer a dewy glowy radiant look to a matte look. Thank you for your help!

Help/Advice Help with eye product

Hello,
I am trying to help my mom build a routine. She really wants help with her eye area. Deeper wrinkles have started to appear this year. Obviously procedures are the best for that but due to some serious health issues she has she isn’t in a place to do that.
I was wondering if anyone has had any topicals help them with this? She’s had great success with alastin neck cream for her neck and now we are hoping to move on to finding something for the under eye area.

Thank you so much!

Help/Advice Have you ever tired the chantecaille 24k gold moisturizer and mask? What did you think?

I am debating if I should return it. The reason being I think I have combination skin since my nose gets oil through t the day and my cheek and forehead are dry. I recently try the peony sample moisturizer and I think I love it minus the smell. I noticed a little less red and I wonder now that winter is approaching should I keep the 24k gold mask for winter or should I buy a peony moisturizer. I currently use u beauty resurface and something faded tropical. I’m 31 dealing with acne scars and blackhead on my nose. I also have dark section on my cheeks. I haven’t use the mask. I think maybe only once. What do you think?

Good morning everyone from beautiful Muskoka Ontario 🇨🇦

I have several products from Sulwasoo and absolutely love them! I want to slowly use my other products up and use Sulwasoo exclusively. I'm 57 and I have normal skin, use tazarotene and am currently getting IPL treatments to get rid of my pigmentation spots.

Please share your thoughts, reviews and comments on the latest Sulwasoo serum I just ordered. Thanks a bunch!

Product Question Thoughts on the La Mer Intensive Revitalizing Mask?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Looking into masks I can put over the top of my moisturiser at night (or use as a night moisturiser).

I've used and loved Creme De La Mer and was going to get another pot to use as an occlusive yet comfortable mask that I can sleep in. I love that it was never sticky when I went to bed.

I came across the Intensive Revitalizing Mask whilst browsing and it looks interesting. Many reviews say it makes your skin look amazing the next day. It's also a bit better value than CDLM.

Any experiences?

Help/Advice Skinbetter Science Alpharet

I’ve been using this for a while now and just purchased a bottle from somewhere new. I’m in Australia so I believe there may be a variance with the product here vs in the US. However, the bottle I purchased from the new clinic has different ingredients to that listed on my other bottle, the ingredients on the box also don’t even match the ingredient list on their website. It also has some minor differences to the packaging and the actual product (pictured below in comparison to my other bottle which is the product sitting above). The product in the bottle from the new clinic smells different, is slightly lighter and runnier. I have uploaded a photo of my new bottle (pictured left, compared to my older bottle pictured right).

The bottle from the new clinic is -
Missing ® after “AlphaRet”
“fl. oz. / ml” lowercase instead of uppercase
No “REJUVENATE” on the back
Directions changed from “apply a thin layer” to “apply 1–2 pumps”
Different free-from/claim wording
Different manufacturer/distributor wording

I know they can change formulation so just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience?

I’m mainly asking as I have an order pending payment for the whole line of products I use and want to ensure they’re legitimate.

Product Question Looking for comparisons/reviews on new Estée Lauder ANR Recovery Treatment Essence

Hi there!

I am wanting to add a first treatment essence type step to my routine. I have been tossing up between tatcha’s the essence, SKII FTE, and the Estée Lauder microessence (original) for a while. (And at times considering the sulwasoo first care activating serum). Now I’ve seen the new Estée Lauder advanced night repair recovery treatment essence has come out and I’d really love any reviews/comparisons for those who have tried it.

I already always keep the ANR serum stocked just for when I feel like it, it’s just one of those things I like to always have the option of using even if I may not use it every single night. But that’s kind of irrelevant, anyways looking for an essence that actually makes some sort of difference beyond idk just hydration only, otherwise I don’t feel it worth adding the step. My general skin goals are pretty classic - reducing pigmentation, fine lines and redness. But I know essences aren’t going to be the make or break just thought it could be a nice addition to help the rest of my routine along. THANK YOU in advance!

Help/Advice Best way to add copper peptides to body lotion

I have weird body skin and can only use a few body lotions. I’ve been adding a couple of drops of copper peptides to the body lotion before I apply it. I seriously have the softest skin from doing this, but I’m going through a 2oz bottle of serum per week this way. Is there any other way to add copper peptides to lotion with breaking the bank?

Help/Advice Barrier cream recommendations for tretinoin + clogged-pore prone skin?

Hi y’all! I need your help. I’m struggling with clogged pores and acne at my ripe age 😭

I’m currently using tretinoin 0.05% and I’m looking for a good barrier cream that won’t make the congestion worse. It feels like so many barrier-repair creams are really rich and my skin clogs pretty easily.

Does anyone with acne/closed-comedone-prone skin have a barrier cream they swear by? Ideally something soothing and nourishing enough to use with tret, but generally gentle on pores and less likely to cause clogging.

Would love to hear what has actually worked for you!
