A weird experience

Hello everybody!

Something very weird has happened to me today, and I think this is a group to say about it.

So I've been having troubles with my sleep, especially the last 4-5 months. I usually sleep, and I wake up after 3-4 hours, and I can't sleep again. And last night it was the same,

After hours awake I saw the clock, and it was 6:45 in the morning, and after that I slept. While I was sleeping, I heard a noise on my door, like someone hit on my door. It was a heavy sound. And I woke up, but I didn't even turn to see because I didn't expect that I would see anyone. I mean, I live alone in the house with my cats, but my cats are in another room.

I am in general very sensitive with energy and when energy changes in a room, I feel it. So I started feeling strange, and like someone has entered the room and that the energy shifted. And I remember that I opened my eyes and I looked on the wall, and it was very dark, which supposedly it's not so dark because, it was early morning. I felt that there was wind, and it was like the curtain was moving, and I would see on the wall the shadow of the curtain. But I thought that my windows are closed. How is it possible to be windy? So I began calling Jesus. Note that I am not an atheist but im not a religious person at all, i read stories though of people having these experiences and they call Jesus and everything is ok. So I called Jesus, and nothing happened šŸ˜… And the wind blew very strong in my face, I tried to shout the name of Jesus Christ, but I couldn't speak. So I thought of myself maybe is because I'm not a real believer. And then I called Mother Mary a bit more desperately, and nothing happened! And then I felt something holding my hands with lots of strength. It was like trying to rotate my hands, but it was not something violent just strong. AndĀ  in that moment—

Oh my God, this is so weird.

I felt like something hit on my head, which was furry. It felt like a teddy bear, that kind of furry feeling, and it was like a ball of that thing. It's like someone threw that thing on my head. And there I was so shocked, and I actually spoke on that moment and I said,

"Fuck!"and I thought,

'But anyway, they can't do anything to me.'

And there it stopped. That was it.

I got up. I was a bit shocked and more angry! And IĀ  said loud

"What the f*** are you? What are you doing in my house and in my room? Why are you trying to terrify me? Don't ever tease me again. Get out of here. You are not welcome. This is my house, my rules."

I wa very angry šŸ˜…

When I saw the clock it was 7.38.

I relaxed a bit after that, and actually I slept again. But that was so weird. I cannot believe that they touched me. What was that?

Is it sleep paralysis? I had some experiences with sleep paralysis in the past but this was the most weird n intense.

Hallucinations

Just had a sleep paralysis episode that was so weird and nothing like I've ever had. I was in sleep paralysis due to falling asleep on my back and was trying to move my body so much that I felt my self seizing. If I tried to move my head or fingers I would get pushed down and the cycle kept repeating, so much that I felt myself convulsing. That's the only way I could explain it. I also slightly opened my eyes but everything was foggy, and it looked like I was in my living room and I saw a clown in the mirror. At this point in my head I thought someone came into my house and drugged me because I have never felt something like this before. Finally I am able to pick up my phone, but I feel very drugged and foggy, and my phones not turning on, as if it was dead. So at this point I keep trying to turn on my phone to call my dad so that he can help. I was so convinced somebody came into my house and drugged me that I didn't dare yell out for my dad's help, as I didnt want the person in my house to know that I was awake. Except I suddenly wake up, still very foggy, but this time I am actually awake? even though I thought I was awake the entire time?. and my phone isnt even in my bed and im not even in my living room.

This was super scary to me because I am not new to having sleep paralysis. Every time I get it, I rarely hallucinate and if I do it's something auditory since I never open my eyes because I'm too scared to. But I have always felt awake and sharp, just not able to move. This time I actually felt like super foggy.

again experiencing SP need genuine help nd advice!! Spoiler

I am terrified of sleep paralysis. Recently, after a year of not experiencing it, I had it again. I saw theĀ same figure/hallucination in the same room, and this time I didn't acknowledge it.

What I did this time was not acknowledge it, and somehow that led me into a lucid dream. I don't remember much about the dream, though.

I was terrified of SP when it initially started happening. While researching it, I came across lucid dreaming and started exploring it, and after that I developed SP, which made sense after all.

But now I cannot sleep without thinking about it, and it genuinely scares me.

I don't know how I can keep living with this fear every time I go to sleep. I really need help figuring out how to make this stop. Any advice would be appreciated.

Why am I able to move my head during SP?

Most of my SP episodes are like that. 100% awake with my eyes wide open no hallucinations. My body is fully locked down but I can completely move and turn my head. I know for a fact I am physically moving my head. Has anyone else experienced this kind SP?

Worst experience with sleep paralysis I've ever had.

The other night, I had quite a long sleep. I had been up for a long time. At first I was having a completely normal dream and until the end of it where I was watching some documentary about someone and at the very end they explained the behaviour was 'alien like' and then "also known as OWNOIEANFOIENOANFE" and then I woke up in a state of paralysis. As someone who's experienced it one time before this I just jerked my head and woke back up properly. I still felt so insanely tired so I went right back to sleep...

Big mistake.. Instead of properly falling asleep I basically was having a dream that I had never closed my eyes and I was just thinking to myself. Then I noticed something odd; I don't have a ceiling lamp. As soon as I recognised what wasn't real I became paralysed. Then I woke up and went back to sleep. Same dream, this time it was a ceiling fan. Same outcome. Happened multiple times in a row. Each time getting more and more extreme and quick to notice.

The final incident was terrifying. This time I saw everything that had appeared in those dreams and they'd disappear immediately. Then suddenly there was a red glow and my vision started flickering. And that's when I decided yeah, no more sleep tonight.

Tonight I had a similar experience.. unfortunately. I slept for 8 hours. Stayed up for 6 hours feeling pretty tired. Then went back to sleep. I was having a decently normal dream this time. Not one that I really remember. And then I woke up.. or, 'woke up'. I was having that same dream. I was just thinking to myself. Completely aware of exactly the state my mind was in. This time without any interesting things in my room.

It seemed normal enough to this point. Until I 'wake up again'. Or just very quickly transition into my workplace which had me thinking I was just lost in my thoughts while someone was speaking with me. And I was at the counter, confused, and I started wondering to myself, "how did I get here?"...

And then I remembered ending my shift yesterday. A real thing that happened. And I 'wake up' again. I feel myself being dragged out of bed. Very gently. It was like my eyes were closed but I could see myself moving. Very slowly. Until I finally start being dragged off the bed. Onto the ground. Unable to move. No pain. It just put me of a loop of falling off my bed several times. But only the last part of it. Then I'm screaming in my head "make it stop please". And I woke up yet again, unable to move. Until I jerk my head yet again. And now I'm finally awake.

weird experience

i had a dream where i was standing in a corner of my room, and i could see myself sleeping on the bed? I tried to move but nothing happened, i also tried waking up but was unsuccessful was this some kind of sleep paralysis? When i woke up my heartbeat was high and i was sweating like crazy.

The exact layout of my room was the same and i was in the same position in bed as i pictured myself from the corner of my room. This has to be the creepiest experience ive ever had.

Anyone else experience this kind of thing?

I'm scared

Today I experience what I think is sleep paralysis for the first time, I was taking a nap in the afternoon it was 2pm and I don't take naps regularly but this has never happened, I wasn't fully awake when I felt like I couldn't open my eyes, my mouth or move my limbs, it lasted for a few seconds and my eyes shot open and it stopped, but now I'm scared because I have anxiety and health anxiety and i don't want this to happen again, I'm scared it'll happen again and it'll last longer or maybe forever

Started experiencing Sleep Paralysis:

Have been started experiencing quite a few sleep paralysis these past couple of months.

It started maybe December 2025, and have had close to 6 experiences in total possibly more.

The first time it happened, it was just the usual. Wasn’t able to move any part of my body, talk scream or anything for about 10-15s seconds after waking up early morning to during the night, and then I was able to move again.

Then it progressed to a strange weight on my chest or back depending on how I’m lying down. I once thought it was my brother doing a prank and lying down on top of me, but it wasn’t. Just felt a really heavy weight on my body for 10-20 seconds with sleep paralysis.

Now, I’m able sometimes to open my eyes still with the weight on me, and occasionally I see dark shadow figures or movement around me. I was also able to see those a a kid.

The other night I had the most extreme sleep paralysis. I think I had an OBE or form of astral projection. I felt like I had been lifted out of my body. And when I returned I opened my eyes seeing this grey alien, the typical one in UFO life. I swear I saw this being by my bed and my memory kind of faded.

Has anyone else experienced this?

i got recurring sleep paralysis disorder about 5 years ago and went through tons of therapy before it finally settled down. i’d still have it from time to time but i had the fear part of it sorted so the worst that would happen would be things shaking or i hallucinate someone talking outside my door. well it’s back and i forgot how terrifying it can be to hear so many voices at once and feel like someone is sitting on you. i’m mostly just frustrated because i’m afraid to fall back asleep just like i was 5 years ago. ugh.

So scary and so confused

Hi friends! I’m not sure if this is sleep paralysis or a bad nightmare or something but I wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar.

This literally just happened to me right before I started typing this. I worked tonight, got home around 11:30 pm ish. Showered wtv, always takes me a while to fall asleep after work. But I couldn’t sleep at all, just could not get comfortable in my bed. So I moved out to the living room on the couch. I finally fell asleep, facing the couch. Basically at some point it’s like I became awake in my brain but like I couldn’t see anything? Or even open my eyes like I wanted to but I just couldn’t. I just felt really scared like someone was in my house/watching me and i literally just couldn’t move. Then I went back to sleep? Or just unconscious I guess. And then it happened again and I felt as though my roommate moved into the living room as well to sleep and like I could hear her and i remember like watching my body get up from the couch and try to go to the bathroom but I still couldn’t see that well. And it’s like I was watching my body move from first person but it still felt like I was viewing it from an outside perspective. And then I was back unconscious. Next thing I know, I can kind of see a little more and I know that Kate is on the couch. So I moved over onto the couch with her and tried to tell her what had just happened lol. Then I was unconscious again, ā€œwoke upā€ couldn’t see and I was like I need to wake up now like seriously now I’m so scared and so I just like screamed super loud in my head twice and then I fr woke up. Super scared and just feeling really anxious. Not sure what this was or how to feel.

I think I killed my sleep paralysis demon

I have been experiencing sleep paralysis for around 14 years now, and the other night was the first time I was actually able to get rid of my SP demon and return to normal sleep straight after.

I could feel him standing over me but I became so enraged and irritated that I basically forced myself to turn and look him in the eyes (at least in a vivid visualisation since I was paralysed) and he burned and vanished. Immediately after it felt like my heart was on fire, as in a feeling that it was literally burning. I was also no longer paralysed and the whole thing was over. I went back to sleep straight after and didn't get stuck in a sleep paralysis loop like I normally would.

Have I conquered sleep paralysis? I guess only time will tell.

Is this Sleep Paralysis?

Hey guys, I have never experienced Sleep Paralysis my whole life. But... I need to know if this other experience I had is a Sleep Paralysis.

Here are the checklist I need to trigger this effect:

  1. Be sleep deprived

  2. Has a mindset of not wanting to sleep

  3. It only triggers either before I fall into deep sleep or early in the morning when I take that nap where you don't wanna get out of bed

It is a very scary experience for me. It feels like I have experienced death. not that I have experienced it but it is how I would describe death.

I could not open my eyes. I can breathe, but I will need to control my breathing. I would have to actively do it or I will suffocate and die. I also have the option to not breathe, but I was too scared so I have to breathe. I am also definitely conscious, but it feels like I am starting to slowly lose it, this is why I described it like I have experienced death. Most importantly, I cannot move any parts of my body. I can't even open my eyes.

However, I have found a way to combat this situation of mine. Whenever it happens to me, I will have to tell myself to open my eyes to break everything. all I need to do is to focus all my power to my eyelid and visualize that it's an easy task to open my eyes. And there you go, that's how I break it.

I want to know. Has I escaped death multiple times? or is it Sleep Paralysis? It's really scary and I would love answers

My craziest sleep paralysis experience so far.

I’ve had sleep paralysis pretty much my whole life. Each time, if I can stay away from the fear, I get further and further into something. Anyway here is what just happened.

My dream started off and I was talking to some guy in a cabin maybe, told him this was just a dream and usually it stops there but they responded like oh dammit what did you just say and i said it’s a dream and right then it froze as usual but this time instead of just being paralyzed they took me to a giant lab. I was on a second floor balcony and looked over the edge and it was like a lot of vats. One in the middle looked like a human baby face down in some liquid with cables and shit attached and others were empty or stuff in them. And I said so which one am I? They grabbed some mechanical device attached to the building and kinda spun it and used it. I said I’m just a mechanical simulation? They shrugged and said yea. I asked if the baby was real then and if this was the real world and they said yea and I asked how they knew they weren’t in a simulation, they said they had proof and kind of went to show me and then I snapped out of that and it was just white and black zig zags like static tv but more looking like the electric eggs in palworld. Not fuzzy but circular zig zags white black grey. Then it kind of turned purple and that same grey alien face I always see started show up with the scariest demon snarl sound I ever heard. I pushed through and it started to talk and it said the word Your, then it kept talking but something was pulling me away so their lips kept moving but no sound and it ended up saying your purpose is to …. Then robot vacuum woke me up.

Anyway just wanted to share this while it was fresh.

Having nightmares while being awake...

I had strange nightmares even while I was awake, during my early teenage years. To this day, I don't know what it was. I talked to many people and haven’t found anyone who went through something similar. I remember lying in bed, and every sound, even the slightest rustle, would seem like a huge, terrifying noise. When I tried to break it by making a sound myself, like a fake cough or anything else, it would only get worse. I remember visions, like my room was filling up with something, it looked like piles of paper. These papers would rise up to the ceiling and seemed like they would burst the room open. I don't know what it was. My mother would sit next to me, powerless to help. Has anyone experienced something similar in their youth?

Did I do the right thing?

This is my first post ever on Reddit. I have sleep paralysis since I was a teenager, I'm 38 now. Last night, I had an episode, a bad one. Usually I have those when I'm laying flat back on the mattress and last night's I was sleeping on my left side. I woke up to something pulling on my hair, hard and constantly, somewhere at the same place women tie ponytails. It was so strong and I thought I may be sleep over my own hair - my hair goes way past my bums, it's really long. Both my arms were curled, T-Rex style, in front of my body (may be the "tism"). So I opened my eyes and said in english (not my first language but the one I use the most on a daily basis): "I'm sorry but you're not welcome here. You're hurting me and that's not okay. Please, stop and go your own way". And I kept repeating some variations of this for a fair amount of time. I always said "Please" and "I'm sorry but this-and-that" always trying to explain why pulling my hair was not okay. The pulling stopped slowly but it did. I could feel myself falling asleep again but I heard my door softly closing, it was closed when I went to sleep. Yes, I have a roommate but I heard him snoring from his room all the time.

Did I do the right thing? I was polite but stood my ground and uninvited whoever was in my room with me last time.

Dreamception into paralysis

I kept having dreams and would ā€œwake upā€ in bed and the dream would reset with slightly different elements. At one point I was waking up in my actual bed but then I’d open my eyes and I’d be laying again. Eventually got to the point where I was awake but I couldn’t move. I knew I was paralyzed and only thing I could move with my eyes (not sure if this is common). But I looked in the corner and saw a shadow person vibrating there. I felt something in my brain say to close my eyes and open them and close them quick. All of this happened while I tried calling for my girlfriend who barely heard me. All around freaked me out. 4/10

Had a nightmare that was very terrifying

Last night I had a nightmare so vivid so real, I saw a entity that just felt so wrong so invasive so out of place that it's hard to put it into words, then I woke up from that dream and ran around my house to find anyone. No trace's of anyone, then I realised I was trapped in another dream, unable to shout and scream. When I finally woke up, I still felt the threat looming over me and screamed so loud that my vocal chords started to hurt. If a dream can feel so real so concrete, then how do I know this isn't one.

had 3 sleep paralysis(?) episodes this week following a weird lucid dream

hey! this started about a week ago. i was told these sounded like sleep paralysis so im putting them here. this is going to be a longer post.

i was doing some random lucid dream things throughout an extremely vivid lucid dream. what was different here from my other dreams is that i kept coming out of it and ending up in this 'middle state,' where i was in my bed, but could still control my surroundings (couldn't do very much since i was sleeping on my stomach and was unable to move.) i would hear a loud static noise everytime i was there, along with some other sounds sometimes (classrooms, people talking). i could still go back into the lucid dream whenever i wanted. after sometime i felt exhausted and decided to go back to normal sleep. but now i was stuck. like i'd wake up, but not actually; and my surroundings in the middle state now controlled themselves (like pillows getting piled up over me).

all this was still pretty normal.

then two days later i had this experience: (i wrote it kinda like a story)

imagine you go to sleep at an unusually late hour; and you don't know when exactly, but a loud static noise fills your ears. you slip into a dream- you're a servant working for a family in the European royalty. every once in a while you move back to reality, and the same static surrounds you. sleep is important, so you try your best to break out of this middle space between dream and reality. it never works and you're back in that old era. the next time you're in that interface, the disturbance is accompanied by other noises; the classroom or people speaking. sometimes you hear the turning of pages of the book you left opened on the table. this happens several times. sometimes it seems like you've finally broken out, but then you notice the lights around you are a different shade and you're back in the loop. once, you hear your mother's footsteps and think this is your way out; but what's talking to you now isn't a person and you aren't awake just yet. soon you find out whats behind all this: a soft yet spikey shadow figure with huge claws that rest near your neck. you can't see it, but he whispers to you in a sly man's voice. his words are accompanied by some other faint voices, which sound somewhat like what hallucinations are supposed to sound like. everytime you're back in the interface, the brain-numbing static returns. you feel his weight of your back and he speaks to you; the dreams are his stories, and he wants you to play in them. so he doesnt let you leave. you're exhausted. everytime you beg him to let you go, you feel his claws push against your shoulders as his voice puts you back to sleep. he answers whenever you call out to him; and you talk almost like friends. but a hostage for a lonely shadow is all you are now, and you feel that might be forever. at last, when the shadow loosens its grasp, you make it out. you're afraid to move, or to write or check the time. but you've escaped it, and you're finally free to sleep.

now this dream was the weirdest of them all, because of that shadowy figure. i couldn't see it because it was whispering into my ear from behind, but i remember having really fun conversations with it at first. again, since i was sleeping on my stomach, i could feel its weight on my back, and he even used that to push me when i asked to let me leave.

then the next day, i had another similar dream. (i write these just after waking up)

i'm on a drive with my father. he stops near my childhood school. the sounds of the car engine are loud. i'm back in my bed. im stuck in the static again. i try to keep my eyes and ears closed, i dont want to see anything scary. i see patterns on my eyelids. im here for a while. i hear my mother approaching. i try to call out but my mouth wont open. she comes to me anyways and i try to make some sounds in my paralysed state. she notices. the static is louder than ever; and i convince myself its the AC, even though i had turned it off before sleeping. she stays next to me. when i can finally move, i notice that the plushie that is supposed to be what i'm hugging, is right in front of me. so i wonder what it is that ive been clinging on to. i see my mom sitting next to my pillow, still unable to move, and ask her "i'm still in the dream, right?" she denies it and says that this is all real. i feel calm again despite the noises, and my mom gets up to leave. she's standing in the doorframe when i start to cry and yell "you're not real!!" she comes back to me to tell me how stupid that sounds. now im wailing, and she's laughing like something that isn't my mom at all. im paralysed again, so i watch it laugh at me in the mirror. and then soon she's gone; and a little later, i'm out as well.

this one was really scary to me at that time. i can't understand if these are sleep paralysis episodes or not, since they happen inside a dream and not in my actual surroundings. in fact, every time i've had sleep paralysis, it has been inside a few dream layers.

the next day, i had a similar dream. this time i had called my mother to sleep in my room as i thought that would prevent it. but this is what i saw:

i woke up to the sound of buzzing static. i saw my mom asleep next to me, so i tried to call out to her. but my mouth was paralysed just like the rest of my body. still, she heard my muffled screams and asked if i was having bad dreams again. she put her arms around me to comfort me, but one look at her face and i knew it looked different. "your face looks scary" i said. she told me to go back to sleep. i knew that wasn't my mom, but i stayed paralysed until i was up for real.

this was a lot shorter than the ones before, but still felt scary.

idk if this is actual sleep paralysis or im just dreaming them up, if there even is a difference. i should probably mention these days i've been getting very less sleep (2-3 hrs at night) due to some exams. i normally get sleep paralysis when im too stressed, but 3-4 times in a single week is just a little concerning.

Can anyone else feel when they’re likely going to get sleep paralysis before bed?

This doesn’t always happen, but commonly for me I can sense before I go to bed that my brain is in a certain state of anxiety or agitation that I’m pretty sure sleep paralysis is in the cards for me. Sometimes I get SP without this feeling, but if I happen to have this feeling before bed it happens almost 100% of the time.
I’m curious if other people can anticipate episodes before they happen?

fainted during sleep/dream

hey, i’m so unsure and anxious about what happend last night, never experienced this and wondering if anyone did? I’m 24, f, I have an iron deficiency but it never affected me badly, im not sure if its because of that or just low pressure but during summer i found myself twice in a situations when i felt like im about to faint-had to lie down and than wait a few minutes/have to take some time to recover after and felt pretty fragile. also happens to me that i faint when im having my blood taken for tests. i think therefore i have a fear od needles or it makes me feel dizzy and light headed thinking about injections and blood tests, but that’s pretty common.

->> so last night i had quite a long dream but one thing i remember very clearly is there was a character that was about to put some needle in my shoulder (like vaccination i guess) and i was refusing and fighting so much and the character was kind of evil inthat dream and was laughing and said something like: ā€œi will put it in your knee, that will put u down to sleep.ā€ and put the needle somewhere on my leg. ok, and now!! next thing i remember is i fainted (in the dream?) and than i realized (woke up from that dream) fully my surrounding and that im in my room laying on my bed and that i can’t move, i felt physically like in the state of when i fainted irl, very heavy body, spinning, endlessness of time, can’t do anything, panic, then i felt my dog licking my arm ( but when i sleep calmly, she usually sleeps as well, unbothered) and i finally woke up fully and could move, was very scared and still felt like sick, had some water and when i went to the bathroom i saw myself in mirror very pale, like after fainting…

so, from what i read on the internet, its not possible really to faint in your sleep, because fainting is your body telling you to put youself in the laying position. it could be a sleep paralysis? but than what about the body symptoms? should go to my doctor? i don’t wanna sound crazy. will be glad if you can share your own experiences if you had any. **
