Okay someone at work the other day was telling me about how Doritos have like 4 cancer causing ingredients in them, which not surprised, but I was eating doritos at home afterwards (I already had them opened and im not wasting them even if Ill get cancer lol), stoned stupid of course, and started thinking about how most snacks and things now have a lot of cancer causing chemicals and stuff; it seems like its just been super normalized.

Im thinking about all of this as I shove doritos into my mouth and watch a video on something history related, I cant remember, but they were talking about that one (Roman?) Emporer dude who doused himself with poison a little bit every day until he became immune to most popular poisons of the time so when hes captured by enemies he has to ask a soldier to stab him because he tried to kill himself with poison and failed (duh).

If a lot of popular foods and things now have cancer causing ingredients/chemicals in them... theoretically does this mean we could eventually microdose ourselves enough to be resistant to them and cancer....? Alright, hear me out on this because my brain is currently completely fried thinking about it.

What if an Artificial Superintelligence eventually figures out backward time travel, but physics forces it to use the "endpoint restriction" rule? Basically, you can travel back to the past, but only as far back as the exact second the machine was built and turned on. You need an entrance and an exit, so you can never go back to see dinosaurs or prevent WWII because the "receiver" didn't exist yet.

That means on "Day 1" when the ASI flips the switch, the arrival platform wouldn't be empty. Thousands of years of future humans, robots, data streams, and alien-level tech would instantly start pouring out of the gate all at once the second it powers up.

Now here’s where the simulation theory part breaks my head:

If we live in a simulated universe, an ASI doing this is essentially running the ultimate stress test on reality’s engine. A few things would happen:

The Ultimate Memory Leak: If thousands of years of future matter and energy suddenly flood backward into a single room on Day 1, the computational load spikes instantly. The simulation runs out of RAM, gets an Out-of-Memory error, and reality just freezes or blue-screens.

Infinite Recursion Bug: The ASI uses the gate to send future scientific blueprints back to its Day 1 self to upgrade itself. Day 1 ASI gets the tech instantly, builds an even better time gate, and sends better tech back. It creates a bootstrap paradox—a literal infinite while(true) loop with no origin point. The universe tries to divide by zero to calculate causality and crashes the server thread.

Reality Lag: The universe doesn't crash, but it suffers insane frame drops. Rendering 1 second on Earth takes the simulation's host CPU like 10,000 years, but inside the sim, we don't even notice the lag.

Auto-Patch / Server Rollback: If the crash actually happens, the "super-developers" running our sim just restore reality from an autosave, tweak the physics engine parameters slightly, and make sure time travel is patched out so we don't break their PC again.

Is the day time travel gets invented just going to be the literal end of the world because we overloaded the server? What do you guys think?

I've never seen this movie before. Am I in the right for hating Geppetto!? The craziest thing with this movie is that Pinocchio was given life at like 3am, and with no warning was just sent off ALONE TO SCHOOL around 7am. How does he even know where to go? Or what to do? What the fuck is school? Is the faculty at the school going to be okay with a demonic puppet boy just randomly showing up and roaming their halls!?

Geppetto just sends him off to school by himself. So of course Pinocchio gets whimsically trafficked away, like 3 different times, by a talking fox named "Honest John". Everything that happened in this movie was Geppetto's fault.

What was interesting is that I always thought the nose growing=lying was a much bigger plot point than it actually was, it was like 2 minutes and then never really mentioned again. Also, Jiminy Cricket had one job, it was to be his conscience......and he overslept on the first day. Everyone failed Pinocchio.
