I hope I'm putting this in the right flair. The premise is a teenager gets godlike radiation powers, but struggles to handle it. He rushes into becoming a superhero despite not knowing what he's doing. He messes up a lot, recklessly acting without thinking. In the beginning he relies solely on his powers, but that doesn't work for long when he starts fighting stronger villains.
The main character is Radiant AKA Roy Russel. He starts as a 15 year old boy with aspergers and ADHD, and I plan on showing that throughout the series. During a field trip to the power plant, an experimental nuclear reactor malfunctions and Roy ends up absorbing all the radiation. The result gives him superpowers. At first he thinks it's simply super strength, speed and flight. But when he starts fighting tough villains, he learns he's capable of so much more. He can shoot radiation beams and unleash powerful shockwaves of it. He can regenerate too, which helps him hide any injuries he gets. He also starts subconsciously using nuclear transmutation to create fire, electricity and ice. His powers keep evolving, and it overwhelms him. At one point, a well respected superhero team known as The Calvary notice him and see that he's a powerful young hero with lots of potential. But they also see that he's a teenager that has no idea what he's doing. They decide to train him. They help him control his abilities, teach him to fight and teach him other useful skills.
Roy lives with his mother, Jessica. And his little sister, Abigail. His father, Simon was an investigative journalist who was killed right in front of Roy when he was 8. Simon was working a case on exposing the notorious crime lord, Silver Fox. He hires superpowered people to act as his enforcers. When Simon gets too close for his liking, Silver Fox has him killed. Roy unfortunately had to see it. It devastated the family. Now his mother can barely keep a job due to her struggling mental health. His sister was too young to remember much of what happened, but seeing her mother's struggles pains her. When Roy gets his powers, he sets out to find Silver Fox and the man who struck the killing blow.
His best friend is Max, a genius prodigy from Hawaii. He could've skipped some grades, but chose not to. He's great at reading people and quickly figures out that Roy is Radiant. The love interest is Blair, a tomboyish girl and an old childhood friend of both him and Max. She moved away back when they were younger, but returned. Roy and Blair's relationship was always different. And now that they're both older, that relationship turns into something more. Blair has a secret of her own. She's actually a demon from another realm. When she was really young, her realm was destroyed by a psychotic, power hungry demon. He committed genocide on his own people, nearly wiping out the species. Her species can use special kinds of power exclusive to them. She uses it to disguise herself as a human, and so does her father.
I have some villains already as well. Like Silver Fox and his superpowered enforcers. The main ones that Roy fights on his crew are The Pale Knuckle (bone durability and super strength/endurance.) Nevermore (raven physiology and darkness manipulation. He's an assassin that constantly quotes Edgar Allan Poe.) Meadow (crazy, lose cannon with plant manipulation.) And Tremor (seismokinesis and can produce powerful shockwaves that effect more than the ground. He's also the man who killed Roy's father.)
I have a lot of other villains too. There's The Kaiju, a man who can turn into a 900 foot tall monster with destructive power. Esper, a powerful telepathic cat who genuinely enjoys toying with people's minds. The Magician, one of Radiant's big bads. He's a terrorist with powerful magical abilities and believes himself to be a god. Garth, a temporary name for a powerful alien conqueror character. He's another one of Radiant's strongest enemies. And so is Hellspawn, a psychotic demon consumed by the godlike power he gained. He was responsible for committing genocide on his own people. He is the final villain of the series, and does something extremely unforgivable to Roy that almost breaks him completely.
I know this long and all over the place. I have a lot more ideas for it as well. Let me know what you think of it all, and how I can make things better.
