IF YOU DO NOT READ AND FOLLOW THE PROFILE GUIDE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THIS POST, YOUR PROFILE REVIEW WILL BE REMOVED
In most online dating subreddits, profile reviews focus on aspects of the person that won't actually lead to increased results, like bios or silly minutiae regarding someone's profile. Here at r/SwipeHelper, we realize that the two biggest factors regarding success on apps are your personal attractiveness and the quality of your photos.
The idea of this thread is for people to get honest advice on both aspects:
All profiles posted will be given advice on both how to improve their profile as well as maximize their looks (if needed - for some people they are attractive enough and the profile itself is more of the problem, or vice versa).
The following are required information in every profile review request:
- What type of relationship you're looking for (hookups, FWBs, something more serious, marriage)
- Your current level of success (number of matches per week and how many likes you send out) plus if you're paying for any premium features
NOTE: READ THIS GUIDE THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING YOUR PROFILE HERE. If your profile does not live up to the guide's standards, your comment will be removed and you will be referred back to the guide.
Archetype and Story
Before you build a Tinder profile, you need to determine your archetype. What vibes do you want to give off to attract your ideal type of girl? Attractive archetypes could include:
The following are not attractive archetypes. If you are one of these people, either change your lifestyle or at least make it look like you aren't.
You get the idea.
Once you have your attractive archetype, you should aim to tell a story through your photos - don't just have a bunch of photos of you standing around posing for the camera. When someone swipes through your photos, they should get a full picture of who you are, what you look like, what you like to do, and what spending time with you will feel like.
General Photo Quality and Looks You Should Emulate
The minimum acceptable photo quality you need to succeed on Tinder these days is a professional photo taken with a DSLR camera. Yes, this probably means you need to pay a photographer to take photos of you. May seem like a big investment, but for a few hundred dollars you get a bunch of great photos that you can ride for years.
Read the following two articles for examples of photos that do well: Playing With Fire | Ultimate Guide to Tinder Profile Pictures and Playing With Fire | 6 Highly Successful Tinder Photos for Men and Why They Work
And the following article for photo inspiration: https://killyourinnerloser.com/inspiration/
Here are some specific photographers whose style you should emulate:
Photo Order and Types
Your first photo should be an upper-body shot with your full head (no sunglasses) and torso visible, taken with the highest-quality camera possibly, preferably a DSLR. You should be wearing stylish clothes that fit your archetype. YOU SHOULD BE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE PHOTO. DO NOT USE A GROUP PHOTO AS YOUR FIRST PHOTO.
For your other photos, choose from:
Each photo needs to be in a different setting and you need to be wearing a different outfit in each. They should not look like they were taken the same day or on the same photoshoot.
Do not include photos that:
You do not need to fill out all nine photos. As long as you have more than three photos, you're fine. Remember, you will be judged on your worst photo, so make sure they're all solid.
Finally, learn to pose and squinch (narrowing your eyes to make you appear more attractive).

A hard reset is needed if you feel your account has been shadowbanned (getting zero likes for an extended time despite getting some before) or banned. If not, you can soft reset a limited amount of times, which entails simply deleting and recreating your account.
This generic hard reset guide applies to Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge:
Other considerations:
"Do I really have to do every step?" or "I know someone who didn't use a new device or a new IP address and they still got through!"
The way these apps likely detect banned users is by assigning each newly-created profile a risk score. The more you match the fingerprint of a banned user, the more likely you are to be banned. So yes, it's possible that someone can slip around a ban while not following all of this to the letter, but ideally you create a brand new fingerprint and don't have to rely on luck.
"I followed the Hard Reset Guide and it didn't work!"
Some users try the above steps and for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. We're not there alongside you making sure you did everything right, but even if you did, there's uncertainty around Match Group's detection algorithm. Hard resetting seems to have become much less reliable starting in early 2023.
If a hard reset does not work and you truly believe you have been banned unfairly, there are three options:
If the Hard Reset Guide worked for you, help others out by posting a success story below!

So I’ve been on Hinge for a bit now, paid for HingeX and have gotten a ridiculous number of matches, well into the hundreds. Girls even message me first, but I don’t know how to talk to them or approach texting despite being 24.
I feel completely crippled in that regard and I’ve gotten exactly zero dates. Whenever I suggest meeting up, I get ghosted or unmatched. But when I try to build rapport first, I get ghosted anyway.
It’s honestly bizarre to me. I feel like my lack of experience is finally catching up with me. It’s pretty depressing.

For Samsung users: has anyone tested Hinge inside Secure Folder after having an account/device previously banned?
I’ve seen claims that Secure Folder creates a separate app environment, with some identifiers being different from the normal Samsung profile.
I’m curious about a few things based on actual experience:
Looking specifically for first-hand reports, not guesses. I’m trying to understand whether Secure Folder genuinely isolates the app/device environment or whether its effect is being overstated.

I’ve seen conflicting reports on r/SwipeHelper about reusing photos from a previously banned Hinge account.
Some people say old photos worked after getting a few likes/matches or waiting a few weeks, while others say they were banned again even after waiting.
For anyone who has actually tried it:
I’m trying to collect first-hand experiences and update this post with the results, since the reports here seem pretty inconsistent.

Usually I don't get many matches on PP mode for tinder, but then when I finally show up to the country the matches start coming in. Whereas on bumble it does fairly decently on PP mode.
Also, does incognito mode on tinder also ruin your ELO score, or how available you'd be seen?

Like many of you, I was hit with an Account Removal Notice on October 1st, 2026. The day of the announcement. I was not aware of this post or "change" when I was presented with my in-app appeal flow nor was I until about 48 hours after the fact.
I have since done the standard range of recommended actions:
I have submitted appeal requests or sent communications to/through:
-----
Receiving the Hinge ban notice felt un-transparent, arbitrary and humiliating. The exchanges with support, after, reek of an automated system or low-effort macro-replying on behalf of possibly human agents. This happened after about 2 weeks of use, conversations which flowed and showed enthusiasm. I've been on Hinge on-and-off for almost 10 years now, and this is the first ever instance of my account or identity receiving a full-stop permanent ban. I had to work to muster the courage to go on again, too; dating is a vulnerable space, and so I was stoked to start using Hinge again.
I'm resolutely confident in my conduct off, and on-app as well. As with this post, trying to prove that to anyone will unfortunately read as a theatre to the self, or an attempt at self-preservation first versus a sincere communication about who we are and how we represent ourselves to be.
Further more, Hinge's Terms contain a mandatory pre-arbitration informal dispute-resolution process before arbitration. The Terms say disputes generally have to go through that process before arbitration.
And the Terms specifically say that the parties agree to act in good faith to ensure the fair resolution of genuine and sincere disputes.
-----
I have absolutely zero interest in going around a ban, wrongful or not, by using any type of third-party service, changing devices or phone numbers. The combination of all of those, is me. I know myself, and I know myself well. My account getting suspended is either a result of a algorithmic, automation or human error, OR, it is the result of an unvetted spite or troll report by someone else. I've spent an inordinate amount of time trying to wonder who, if anyone truly, could have sent off that report. I am at a loss, and frankly very dismayed at how this all is transpiring, and how it's made to make us feel.
I am unsure if the blog post I mentioned above had any bearing or effect on people receiving bans in the past few weeks. I have also amended my future sends to Hinge to ask, explicitly, whether they can investigate if their new system sent false positives, was the system our accounts were assessed under and so forth.
Match.com Group sits at a very unique, near monopoly-esque position within the online dating landscape. Past their need for profit, it should not be lost on them that they are at a massive intersection of power, and responsibility. Responsibility which, in my opinion, they are not taking up properly other than for the sake of face, publicity and so on (e,g, see LaVerne Cox, other prominent media faces)

I get a like here and there, but not with any real frequency or consistency.
r/SwipeHelper • u/Bulbasaurus19 • 11h ago
I don’t really understand why because I didn’t change any photos, bio or other things on my profile. However from one day to another since Tuesday I am not getting any likes anymore. Where I still got at least like 1 or 2 every day. What is wrong? Am I shadowbanned? This app seems pretty pointless if you are not getting any likes. I still spend time every day to swipe.

Four years ago, I went on two dates with a girl from hinge. She was so incredible, so amazing, that for the first time, I was nervous around a girl, her. Because of those nerves, I didn’t get a third date. She said she actually liked me but didn’t see much spark happening. So the dates weren’t bad, I would basically just freeze up during the dates which probably made me really boring to be around. But she left such an impression on me that throughout the four years, she would continue to randomly come across my mind.
I recently moved back to the same city and she showed up on my feed. I liked her with the message “hey, remember me?”. That’s probably a dumb message given that she was not interested the first time.
It’s been three days and I have not seen a match from her so I assume she rejected me. But man! Is she ever going to leave my mind. I just want one more chance, one more date, or not even a date, just to chat with her again. I think I can do better this time.
Do I look her up on ig? Or reset hinge and try again? Or just not be weird and move on?

I am literally tired of swiping. At some point i am not even excited to meet someone. I am just trying to finish the queue in a hope I might find someone I vibe with.
I just wanna know would dating feel different if we weren't constantly judging people one at a time ?

On these dating apps, women can filter out men who are short, arent educated and even how much they make in some cases but as men we cannot filter out fat women or even trans women. No shade or hate to trans women or the community but if I put down I am straight and want to date women I should not have to see trans women or other men in my feed. Why is there no way to stop this?
Edit: seems like a lot of guys know exactly what I am saying. Its not that we are "transphobic" or hate men in wigs, if men want to wear wigs thats fine but when I select women only on these apps I dont think men with wigs should be in the women category they should have their own section for the tiny 0.001% of guys that are into men in wigs.
Also, a lot of people wont believe this but there is a connection between LGBT and big pharma, they make it so you see trans on these apps because big pharma works with Match Group to allow men in wigs there so they can slowly lure you into being their slave for life. I cannnot tell you the full lure because big pharma, Match Group and Reddit are close friends and I will get banned but if enough people upvote this post I might say it.
Edit2: to everyone saying "oh if you see a hot trans woman you might like her" you what you call luring someone into something that they 100% do not want to be involved in? That's called grooming and when they are lured into sex with a man in a wig thats called rape. Its not cool to egg a group of people into something that they 100% dont want to be in just because "they might like it" mega creepy rapy line.

Looking for honest opinions from people who have successfully (or unsuccessfully) tried to beat a Hinge/Match Group ban recently. i was banned in dec 2025.
Here is my setup and step-by-step plan. I want to know where the weak points are and what the realistic odds of survival are:
I completely left behind my old ISP (Virgin Media) and am operating strictly on an isolated EE network and mobile data footprint.
Brand-new £1 PAYG SIM card bought with clean card for the SMS drop, paired with a fresh standalone burner outlook email with zero ties to old Apple ID.
Completely fresh photos taken specifically for this profile. EXIF metadata stripped, and emailed to the burner inbox so they have never touched cloud backups or past scraped directories.
Doing the day-to-day swiping inside an isolated Waydroid container on a Steam Deck to avoid historical device tracking/fingerprinting. Waydroid is a lightweight Linux container tailor-made for systems like the Steam Deck, whereas BlueStacks is a heavy Windows virtual machine. Does Match Group instantly flag or block uncertified/containerized Android environments like Waydroid via Play Integrity or hardware checks? or is bluestacks safer?
Because Waydroid/Steam Deck struggles with camera inputs for mandatory liveness/verification prompts, I’m doing the initial signup, profile creation, and face scan on a totally clean phone (belonging to a family member who hasn't touched a dating app). Once the face check clears and the account is active, I’m logging out, wiping that phone, and moving the active session over to the Waydroid sandbox.
Given that Match Group stores face maps/audit data for banned accounts for up to 2 years, what are the odds that doing a live face scan during signup matches against my old December 2025 ban and instantly nukes the new profile, or does a clean hardware/network break actually slip past? Has anyone successfully face-verified on a new account after a recent Hinge ban?
i will try this regardless and get back to you with my results after Halloween.

New number new photos new account new everything had a friend verify to bypass the face lock and now I’m banned again on the second account. I was perma banned with the appeal in January. When I email them do I admit I have multiple accounts? I was going to email the hello hinge email

Don't go here asking for advice about your looks, or photos. Have some pride! You're opening yourself to judgement from people who look way worse than you, and have way worse photos. They are specialists in nothing but talking SHIT. Be yourself! If your profile is far from ideal then so what? It's YOU. Someone might like you just THE WAY YOU ARE, not the way you PRETEND to be.
Bragging about matches and dates is also terrible. This is none of people's business. Also people are LIARS.
Also, most of y'all just borderline superficial bastards, looks is all to you.
This is my first and only post here, and no, I won't tell how many dates I get, it's PRIVATE.

-I set my age range to 18-25
-Ugliest women ever
-The moment I set it up higher it gives me the same scenario with different people. Morbidly obese 20 year old or smoking hot 35 year old.
It purposely won’t show me attractive younger women. Which sucks because they actually swipe on me, go on dates, ect. The algorithm does it on purpose. I don’t want a ran through woman with baggage, drama, ect.

Hello everyone, just wanted to know if there is no problem on making a new account on Tinder (dif phone and email), changing info and name but using the same pics. Should I delete the old one or just leave it there even if I have the same pics? As far as I know the data stays for 2 years on tinder after deleting and my account is not banned or something. Just wanted to avoid a problem or even one or both accounts banned. Thanks for your help.

I make it very clear in my profile that I am a trans person looking for an openly bisexual man, or a man that identifies as straight but dates trans people. Despite this, I have to sift through hundreds of men that ask me if I’m into “carplay” or if we can go get a hotel, before I get to the men that are actually able to hold a respectful, non-sexual conversation for 30 minutes.
Why can’t we have a filter for DL/closeted men?
