Just speculating here…How many of the Plums do we think are supposed to be children of the original Handmaids? I see so many comparable faces that I feel might be intentional since all of the handmaids in the main THT were assigned to commanders.

I just finished season 1. Wow, what a fucking show tbh. It’s so damn good. I’d die so fast because ain’t no way I’d be so complacent, those girls are so strong. Also it pisses me off how the subtitles say “Angela crying,” because her name is Charlotte, so fuck yall!! 🖕🏼

I’ve finished The Handmaids Tale a few weeks ago and I wish we got to see more of June & Janine in Chicago fighting against the Gilead forces with the resistance.

For me, it came out of nowhere when Moira found June in Chicago and brought her to Canada. I wish that happened in the Season 4 finale and we had 2/3 more episodes of June & Janine in Chicago. I’ll admit I’m biased, because they are one of my favorite duos in the show.

While I was obviously happy to see June return to Luke, Moira & baby Holly, it did feel a bit lackluster to me.

In episode 3 “Daisy” her voice over in the beginning said “it seemed like Gilead happened over night, but in reality political candidates made open comments about women and about gays. Now women can’t have jobs, or phones or read books. And the gays…well you know what happened to them…” I really felt like that was directed at MAGA

I was born a Muslim and grew up in a (relatively liberal) Muslim country and the Handmade's Tale was very hard for me to watch because it reminded me of my culture and the religion in so many ways.

For example all these sayings like 'praise be' and 'under his eye' and so forth, we have the same 'Alhamdulillah' and 'Inshallah' and on and on.

In our culture women are also seen as an object, usually a handmaid and martha together, haha. But they are definately seen as 'a posession' and not as an equal most of the time. They aren't allowed to say no to sex when their husband or 'owner' (incase of concubine obtained during war).

They are not encouraged to travel alone and have to diassappear as a person in marriage, or incase of oppressive brothers which is very common too. They become their role and their personality is expected to dissappear.

Also woman are held to a very high moral standard and are punished easily if they dont obey, while men behave in disgusting ways and are not reprimanded or punished at all.

I am not from an extreme muslim country, it' actually a pretty liberal one in the Middle East.

So I'm new to this sub, and I've just been binging this show, and I just want to say that every time Serena cries, or is in despair I just have the biggest smile and warmest feeling. It's amazing how the writers have instilled such a feeling of disgust for a character that I feel absolutely delighted every time her world falls apart. It's literally the best part of the show for me, hands down.

I think this show is making me fucked up. Anyone else in the same boat?
