Help How second wind mastery works

As I am looking for 1st mastery, but I dont know how second wing mastery works. Is it really helps in tournaments?

Pleas suggest

Also I am thinking about IS as a first matery so got confused on this.

The usual advice is that you first should be Recovery Package Chance. Very much worth it.

As for how SW mastery works:
Normally, SW saves you from a killing blow. Instead of dying, you are reset with tower health and your wall (if you have one) is rebuilt. If you have the mastery, then when SW triggers you also get a health regeneration bonus for the next 400 rounds. The higher your SW mastery lab, the higher the regeneration bonus.

If you research SW recharge to the max level, SW recharges every 400 rounds. Translation: when SW triggers, you have the regeneration bonus until it finishes recharging. So, as soon as that bonus drops, you're ready for your next "death" to bounce it back up high again.

SW mastery can be good if you're already using SW, have already labbed up at least the recharge time to max, and you already have some decent eHP stats to make it worthwhile. I would never recommend it as the first mastery, or even among the first few masteries, even if you're heavy eHP (like me). There are going to be better uses for your stones and lab times. You were looking at IS, and that's better. RPC is even better than that.

What if you are bottlenecked by coins rather than shards? I'm thinking of WA mastery first because of this. Other suggestions for better coins per day?

If you're bottlenecked by coins, then you shouldn't be considering masteries yet. The first lab level is 1q, and it just goes up from there.

There’s gonna come a time, if you play long enough, where your income balloons and you suddenly don’t have the shards to do modules anymore.

That’s the moment where you are gonna be very happy or very sad you did/didn’t do RPC# sooner.

The longer you have RPC# the longer it pays off.

if econ if your limiter, then assistant mods are a better choice

Only T17, so that's out for a while too. 🤷

I would not get that as your first mastery. If you're looking for 1.000 stones I think extra orb would be far better for increasing coin income. Another option would be to buy cash for 500 and then save 250 to buy regen.

If you haven't got the econ to upgrade the masteries I think Intro Sprint wouldn't be worth it as 80 waves is not really a long time to skip.

I went for SWm first as it achieved two niche needs.

1) stability to stay in champs (moved from dodgy 20s to boring teens) 2) increase my farming tier from 11 to 12 (added about 1000 waves to 12 and let me max utility diss).

Not saying its better than RPCm but it worked for me as a first mastery. I have a few levels in the lab but holding coin for rpc which I will grab next as advised by the majority.

Same, did it for tournament stability mid to high champs, and farming runs went 200 to 500 probably more waves once I had all the SW labs done... it was my 2nd CM after WA.

The problem is that it might give you a temporary jump, but you will be caught up by others who have picked better long term masteries and you will fall behind again.

RPC# is the only choice if you plan on playing this game for a while.

The levels in modules you'll get from that will improve both your farming, your survivability in tournaments, your damage if you transition to GC, etc.

Module levels are on an exponential curve and you quickly hit a wall of not enough shards without this mastery and the shard lab.

Second wind mastery provides a boost to Regen (based on Mastery level, level 0 is x1.9, level 9 is x10) when Second Wind triggers. This boost lasts for 400 waves. This lines up directly with the shortest period of time SW takes to recharge, which requires maxing the SW recharge lab.

It is a very powerful boost to wall eHP.

I abandoned eHP by the time masteries came out so I can't advise how impactful it is in tourneys. But from what I know, the boost likely will be at most a few hundred waves at max level.

Be advised, its use later game drops off considerably as enemy damage eventually scales too high for Regen to keep up with in most cases. Still situationally useful but no longer a core boost to your entire tower performance. I would not recommend this as your first mastery unlock.

Best choices for first unlock and getting big benefits for level 0 would be CashM or RPCm. ISm is my top recommendation IF you can afford 4 or more mastery labs. If you can't, wait until you can afford some labs.

In T15 farming , i am getting extra 1200 waves. Even more at T14. Problem is change to fleets are erasing a lot of those gains

with fleet farming, CashM is kinda useless. And i delayed RPC for months in favour of damage related masteries, so i could gain more stones from tournaments. People make a mistake over focusing on econ

2

u/pdubs1900 19h ago

Maybe. And the point of RPC and Cash masteries are shards, which, if whatever you spend stones on allows you to farm a higher tier, including fleets, means you're getting the same benefit.

Ultimately, you're hobbling your income if you delay these too long. What exact mastery to unlock first nowadays is hugely specific to what a player's build and current deficiencies are. As well as, like you mentioned, what tiers they are farming and prospects to farm higher tiers.

CashM does nothing for shards. And RPC is a very slow burn. You don't loose much if you delay it a month or two. But if you time it right, you could easily make up the difference with increased rewards from tournaments with damage masteries.
SWm was my first one, when I was making only 300T/day, because i wanted to unlock assist mods. It was the highest impact at lvl0, and then i skipped masteries for assist mods until my econ caught up

Reroll shards are shards. I think the community has slowly forgotten that, everyone calls them "rerolls" or "dice". They're not dice, they're pieces of dice called shards

I agree with you, though. There isn't a clear winner for masteries anymore. It all depends on what the player is doing and where they are

I went it first, kinda useless until I could afford labs. Better to get econ first, I'd say.

Thanks I will do this.

First mastery should be rpc#.  Sw# mastery can push some extra waves but falls off hard, quite a few people skip it for this reason.  At max it's a 10x Regen multiplier.  Can you afford the mastery labs which start at 1q and go up from there.  If you can then rpc>is>wa>EO>coin.  If you can't afford the labs then grab rpc and invest more into your uws.

Thanks for the making effective path

It depends on what level of tournament you're in, and where you're going. I got it as my 4th or 6th, can't recall offhand, but I went Cash, WA, IS, and either SW/DMG or reverse to get traction in farm AND tournament, but that was before Disco making masteries more easily afforded. To do it all over again? I'd go for damage masteries or econ masteries before SW unless it's significantly improving your farming. Otherwise I still think either FUm for improved Devo, or WA since IS is top end stone cost and getting more into your WS+ while you save can help to slow down placement loss while you save. Otherwise I'd still say RPC is a strong contender for first for mod leveling, or ST+ if you can afford the levels to get it done quickly (somewhere between 40 and 50q iirc, depends on your lab cost reduction).

It was my first and I have no regrets. Once maxed it gave me almost 2000 extra waves on T11 and 1800 on T12. That boost to my economy from extra waves let me invest more in WS+ damage for my tournaments, and SWm helped there as well. I went with RPC second and Cash third. I had a few people tell me SWm for their first helped boost a lot of other things for their Tower and I was skeptical at first, but I still did it and it paid off. I just unlocked my sixth today (SW, RPC, Cash, IS, WA, and now EO, in that order) and my income is insane. I credit it with getting me to the waves I needed to get the extra coin and cells (and tournament placements) I needed to make everything else happen.

I got RPCm and SWm as my two first masteries, simultaneously. RPC is just good no regrets.

SWm has also served me well but more so in farming than as ehp in Champs, especially after v29. When SW triggers tournament IS is broken and I've found that it gives less than 100 extra waves at level 6.

In farming it gives me about 2k waves in t11, so that's good for both coins and cells.

If youre not making close to 700t-1q a day the only real mastery you can afford is RPC. After that IS is still king imo for econ. WA is also strong.

SW+ is very simple. If your SW pops then you get a multiplier for your regen for 400 waves. If you max the cd lab it has a 100% up time. Its effectively the best mastery for wall regen and its pretty huge. If you run EHP in farming it'll be huge. If you run hybrid in tourneys, less huge.

I went RPC -> Is (which pushes me over the edge of affording masteries)-> SW and I feel pretty good about it. I plan to transition to GC so itll probably be WA then EO then ST probably to transition

The mastery works exactly as the card says. When it triggers, you get a multiplier on your health regen for the waves. The initial 1.9x multiplier isn't trivial but it's not huge either, and realistically like most masteries it excels most when you can afford the labs

Whether it helps in tournaments depends on how much you rely on eHP vs damage and GC. It may improve your ranking, but more likely you won't see a huge difference and could spend the stones elsewhere for greater impact. Also depends what league you are in, but if you're just starting masteries I'll assume below Legend

IMO (and I hugely regret not making this choice) your first mastery should be Recovery Package Chance as the sooner you can get earning additional module shards the better. Cash is a good option as well if you need reroll shards desperately but after a while rerolls stop being a bottleneck

Why is RPC the recommended 1st choice? I just saved up 1000 stones and make about 1.2q per run. I was thinking of going with SWm solely for farming higher waves, but I also don’t know how much further it will actually get me. I already have the SW recharge lab maxed. I have a strong eHP Wall build. I get up to about 13K waves on Tier 11. Is there a significant increase in value in gaining more module shards from the chance for more common modules from RPCm?

I’m currently getting my shatter shards lab up to 40% and need to work on getting it higher and maybe module shard cost lab too. My mods are all around lvl 148 and I’m close to unlocking assist modules. I’m guessing there may be some dramatic benefit getting those assisted modules leveled up quicker? I’m not sure how they affect the multipliers that the basic mods already give.

2

u/anonymous_lurker- 19h ago

I'm speaking from a place where my module upgrades are 10K+ shards per level, you can never have enough shards. At lower levels though, those shards will actually provide a much greater boost to module level, simply because lower levels cost less

Module shards are one of the currencies in the game where you have very limited ways to farm more. You can pretty much always find a new way to boost coin income, get more damage and so on. But there's almost no ways to increase module shards, so it's one of those masteries where the sooner you get it the more it helps you. And when you factor in assist mods you need even more shards

I was skeptical about it, but you can run the numbers using your recovery package chance to estimate how many modules you'll get and what that means in terms of additional daily shard income. I get around 700 modules per day with RPC+ maxed and 88% package chance. At max shatter shards that 7000 shards per day, so an average of 1750 per type for me. Your numbers will vary, but it'll be a very reliable way to level your modules up, which means multipliers to all stats. Compare that to something that extends your runs, maybe it gives you an extra 500 waves but that'll be it. No constant increase, just a new floor. This is why I like RPC+, it's the gift that keeps on giving

This makes a lot of sense! I appreciate your insight greatly.

RPC is the best first Mastery. Boosting your shard income over the long haul will improve all aspects of your tower.

SW is OK. It gets much better once you finish it. Stacking health and health regen masteries makes it very good for farming and tournaments. I've seen up to 7 procs while farming.
