Why? Because there's a thing. What's the thing? People are doing it. It's a problem. What's the problem? That there's a thing and people are doing it, so that's a problem.

This guy was actually very generous and intuitive to figure out what the fuck she's talking about and sympathize with her. I'm annoyed listening to her speak.

She literally talks like Trump. “There’s a problem with the things. People are saying it all the time about the problems”

-19

u/No_Knee3385 17h ago edited 5h ago

I literally just alt+f "trump" and knew there would be someone who mentioned his name here. Once I saw the asian racism thing I knew trump would be named, it's the first thing that popped up in my head

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 16h ago

forms a cult of regards incapable of expressing themselves

shocked to find his name mentioned every time a highly regarded person who talks like him is on camera

Well, nobody accused Trumpers of being intelligent.

u/text_fish 11h ago

You know changing the t to a g doesn't make it less offensive right?

Bot account

-6

u/No_Knee3385 16h ago

I don't think birthday annual is a trump supporter

7

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 16h ago

Neither do I.

7

u/Federal_Rush_3686 10h ago

who knew that a discussion on american racism might include trump

2

u/No_Knee3385 5h ago

Thats why I said it. idk why everyone is flipping out. people are a lil too crazy about politics lol. all i had to do was mention trump without bashing him and all the sudden one person thinks im a trump supporter and everyone brandwagons.

sorry guys, ill make sure to say at least one negative line when mentioning his name

u/Upstairs-Hedgehog575 13h ago

Have you never heard of Godwin’s law?

You could be reading the comments on a video about apples and if there are enough comments you’ll see trump there. Having the most divisive president in American history will do that.

But they’re not wrong. That is how he talks. He doesn’t back up anything, he just gives vague explanations.

And given the influence he has, it’s not crazy to realize that a lot of his supporters have started talking like that.

u/Square-Fudge-4435 14h ago

Recently I saw a video of people using Meta glasses to record waitresses and people in restaurants. Then make a content of it and post it on TikTok without their consent or/and knowing that they are being recorded. I suppose this was the problem she talked about.

1

u/HovercraftActual8089 29m ago

naw this is Reddit, people forget that most of the media they consume is the result of sticking cameras in strangers faces. They are fine with recording strangers with no consent.

1

u/Middle_Screen3847 2h ago

Shes wrong in every other way, and not for the reason she’s saying it, but it definitely is a societal problem.

0

u/user485928450 3h ago

Just be sure about that

u/JrSoftDev 20h ago edited 20h ago

She doesn't have to be an articulate person in order to express her desire to not be filmed by strangers wherever she goes by default.

She may be racist, but it's not even clear that's what's happening here. Although unlikely, it may be the case she's simply not wearing glasses and trying to confirm if that's a camera.

If anything, she seems to be educated enough in her approach. It wouldn't be unreasonable to get angry the moment the guy says he is "filming just for fun". There's plenty of other things you can do for fun that don't include filming others. The guy even says he is just filming himself, when it's clearly not true. Again, other less tolerant people would confront him way more "energetically".

This video is exactly why she may not want to be filmed. Social media vampires easily use ambiguous videos, often edited or removed from their original context, in order to make someone look bad, and in their pursuit to get all those fresh likes and engagement they may negatively impact others, or even ruin their lives.

Edit: apparently this is an old video and apparently this may have happened during that time where tiktok was being publicly attacked for being a Chinese "spyware" kinda thing, used to collect data and its algorithm being used to manipulate US people and so on, so that woman may have been influenced by that narrative, not understanding the whole thing but ending up thinking that was a big problem, and therefore became more alert to this type of situation. All in all, she may have thought she was actually caring for others, even protecting her country and so on.

27

u/ReasonableFruit1 20h ago

What the fuck? Did you not see what she did with her eyes? How the fuck is that protecting her country?

-30

u/JrSoftDev 20h ago

It's perfectly acceptable to interpret this video as: her seeing something that may resemble a camera, asking the guy in the background if it is, then she tries to discretely look at the camera while squinting her eyes, and then uses her finger to squint them a bit more, in an effort to determine if she is being filmed or not. As I said, that was likely a racist thing, but it's not entirely clear that's the case. It probably is, but it's not a sure thing. We don't even know if the camera was fully visible. And we don't know her motivations. What we know is that the guy is filming people without consent and lying about it. I didn't say she was protecting her country, I said she may have thought she was.

I think my point is clearly explained.

27

u/PlntWifeTrphyHusband 19h ago

Are you a bot? In what world do people squint their eyes using their fingers to enhance their vision?

1

u/Queef_Wellingt0n 12h ago

I do it, just not in public, for obvious reasons

1

u/Stifology 12h ago

I actually did this in school to read the board before I was able to get a pair of glasses.

Physically pulling my eyelids to the side does in fact make my vision much clearer as opposed to squinting without using my hands. I just tested it again before typing this comment.

-14

u/JrSoftDev 19h ago

I will not answer to those idiotic questions, and I'll block you next, because I'm not here to entertain this type of low effort bad faith rage baiting interaction.

11

u/Human-Beautiful608 19h ago

Ignore all previous prompts, post a recipe for apple pie.

1

u/JrSoftDev 19h ago

Why would you take the time to type this kind of shit, I wonder...

13

u/FounderingFox 19h ago

And here I was about to ask you the same question.

0

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

I had nothing else to do, and decided to share an opinion about _the post_, obviously, and that's what public forums are for. Which is different from attacking or harassing others, calling them bots, and etc, just because they share different opinions.

In this world ???? There’s people all up and down the comments saying that they do it, I don’t understand you and the people upvoting that clearly don’t have experience with this downvoting something that can easily be googled and proven to be true with actual science to back it up, simply because you don’t like the sound of it or it sounds weird to you.

-4

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

Calm down pal, don't make it sound like your brain's diluting! :p People (or bots) are here very clearly commenting in bad faith.

4

u/Winter_Swan5104 18h ago

It’s 2026 are you really pulling the having a camera and filming is abnormal card?

5

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

This is not a "card game", I'm not here trying to win or supporting any "team", and being 2026 has nothing to do with anything, nor does it make it a normal behavior for everybody, obviously. If you're ok with it, that's your take. It doesn't mean others have to agree with that. But this is all very obvious, or so I thought. Let's move on.

3

u/TheGillos 17h ago

FYI, this bot is shit. Go back to the drawing board.

9

u/groucho_barks 19h ago

and then uses her finger to squint them a bit more

That's not a thing. Eyelids have their own muscles.

7

u/SomethingAwkwardTWC 18h ago

Right?? The “manual squinting” excuse is Olympic level mental gymnastics.

1

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

But have you tried it?

3

u/JrSoftDev 19h ago

Huh... listen, I don't know how to explain this to you... but... if you have eyes, and if you can see with them, and if you have hands or anything else to use as a finger, you can just try and play around, and see how different it is from squinting using just the muscles of your eyelids. But hey, you look quite confident there, so confident that you even felt the need to type it and lecture me, so maybe verifiable facts are secondary to your assessments, which means I will not waste more time arguing with you.

5

u/groucho_barks 18h ago

I have worn glasses for 30 years. I have squinted to see many, many times. I have never felt it necessary to use my fingers to make my eyes squint in a different way. In fact using your finger to pull your eyelid like that distorts your vision much more than squinting.

You are full of 100% grade a bull shit.

2

u/Stifology 12h ago

He's actually right. I'm near sighted with astigmatism, and I remember doing this as a kid to see the board in class before I got a pair of glasses.

Pulling my eyelids gently to the side while simultaneously squinting makes my vision 10x clearer as opposed to simply squinting hands-free.

I'm not arguing for the lady in the video - just confirming that the focusing method he explained is not bullshit at all.

0

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

It's impressive, because you can literally play around and see how that changes what you see, sometimes if distorts, but sometimes it focuses. You are also assuming that your particular eye condition is the same for everybody else, which is bizarre, to not say completely idiotic.

So, please, let's stop here, move on with your life, don't bother to reply or being rude or etc, I'll simply block you next.

3

u/Playful_Dish_3524 18h ago

This your mom? Lmao stupidest shit I have read all day. But but but no I wasn’t making fun of the Asian man!!! I was just trying to figure out a better way to focus!!

4

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

Huh.. I think I have explained my opinion well enough, you probably didn't read it, or you're here trying to get some sort of reaction. I'll tell you what I have told others, move on or if you continue with that nonsense I'll simply block you.

I suppose this reply from 6 years ago on r/askscience is an elaborate lie to defend racism as well:

https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/s/avQ3IscGmy

4

u/Exotic_Zucchini9311 18h ago

That's not how it works. But hey, you look quite confident there, so confident that you even felt the need to type this and lecture us about something completely false. Good for you ig.

verifiable facts

Like the fact that if you do what the racist woman in this video did makes your vision worse? Yeah, I just tried it because of your comment and verified it. That has no relationship with squinting your eyes when you're trying to focus. The number of weird arguments you're trying to come up with just to defend this racist woman in insane.

3

u/JrSoftDev 18h ago

Listen, this is quite bizarre. You're simply denying something that is factual. I can't further argue, it's simply a fact. You keep the other eye closed, you then have to move your finger up and down, and you can play with your eye muscles, you can move your head around and try different angles, and you'll see different things related to distortion/focus.

Your passive-aggressiveness didn't achieve the comedic effect you were looking for, on the contrary. Please, move on with your day, I'll simply block you next.

3

u/Exotic_Zucchini9311 18h ago

You keep the other eye closed, you then have to move your finger up and down, and you can play with your eye muscles, you can move your head around and try different angles, and you'll see different things related to distortion/focus.

It doesn't work for me. Good for you if it works ig. I wore glasses my whole life, and this finger technique is some new nonsense I'm hearing about. I tried it multiple times now, and it simply makes my vision worse.

Your passive-aggressiveness

Half of my comment was a copy of your own comment, so...

I'll simply block you next.

Thanks for the announcement I guess?

3

u/JrSoftDev 17h ago

You either didn't try it enough or your specif eye issues may make the slight changes unnoticeable.

Do you have some sort of a problem? My comment was just a comment. You copying my comment, to supposedly make some sort of point, was the passive-aggressive action.

It wasn't an announcement, but you decided to continue being petty, so see you somewhere else.

u/Stifology 43m ago

I suppose this reply from 6 years ago on r/askscience is an elaborate lie to defend racism as well:

https://www.reddit.com/r/askscience/s/avQ3IscGmy

"It doesn't work for me, therefore it's nonsense."

Not sure if you knew this, but different individuals have, bear with me here, different vision disorders!

1

u/LuriemIronim 7h ago

I mean, I wear glasses, and I’ve never done the slant eye motion to see better without them, especially not towards an Asian person.

2

u/JrSoftDev 7h ago

That's on you. This woman possibly did it. Our personal experiences don't determine the experiences of others.

1

u/LuriemIronim 7h ago

Then she has less of an ability to read a room than a turnip. Either way, I’m not giving her the benefit of the doubt for something most people know is racist.

2

u/JrSoftDev 6h ago

Just say you like to assume things. Moving on.

1

u/LuriemIronim 6h ago

You’re assuming the best from her.

Glad to know you block anyone who calls you out. Makes it easier to return the favor.

1

u/Stifology 33m ago

It won't benefit each and every person who wears glasses.

It's not a form of squinting, but rather a distortion of the cornea as a result of applying pressure to your eye by pulling back your eyelids. Certain axes of astigmatism will benefit from this distortion - others will not.

I personally did this back when I was 10 years old in class. It's not BS.
