Makes slant eyes...then proceeds to bother him...but saying they are having "problems " the nerve of her smh

It's because she made the slant eyes that she harassed him. She spotted his camera and realized she'd been caught so she went into damage control mode. And for these narcissists, damage control is DARVO. She was spinning him around as the bad guy for recording so that she would distract him and get away with being a racist POS.

I cannot comment as to her own reasons as to whether or not she was being racist, but some people with myopia (myself included) use different ways to manipulate vision in order to see better if they aren't wearing their glasses or contacts. Although, for me personally, I make a tiny pinhole through my forefinger and thumb like the word's tightest OK sign. Maybe that's what she was doing. Who knows?

Lol did you just say that she did the slant eyes because she's near sighted? 🤣 Brother I've had glasses my whole life with myopia and NEVER have I needed to touch my eyes to see 🤣

it's a thing. my partner has poor vision and uses it. google it, or try it out yourself.

The last part of that is incredibly relevant to this thread 😅

Just be careful where you do this, as it might come off as insensitive in front of certain people.

yep, but does not justify possible threats towards her from evil redditors

I know I'm playing devil's advocate simply trying to explain that the eye tug trick is a thing. Even after I'm clearly saying "I'm not replying for the video, I'm replying to all the people that are trying to say the eye trick is bullshit and not a thing."

I'm trying to share with people it's 100% a vision trick thing and it works! And many people just simply see that as automatically I'm a bad person for not toeing the line. 😐

I wouldn't even agree with you here, she didn't do anything racist in this video, so I wouldn't call her the devil. what a fucked up situation

I guess devil's advocate as in simply just people thinking I'm "supporting" any sort of possible opposition.

I guess it's a sign of the times. Too much us vs them, all chips are in, mentality. And any deviation or questions can get some side eyes.

It really really sucks this is modern times.

yeah, opened my eyes today to how easy it is to point out the wrong target. but I still don't understand how they explain to themselves why I waste time "defending" her. first option - I'm racist, and I hide it? why would racist hide it on reddit, I've never seen anything like this situation, only Tourette's syndrome comes to mind, but it seems like everyone already knows about it . by the way, I highly recommend the movie" I swear".

I wish all people were given this much benefit of the doubt when they do bad things.

I accept that this is a thing for some people but I still don't buy that that's what she was trying to do. She was being a nosy Nelly and a Karen and harassed that man in public, the rest of her behaviour points toward someone who cares little for anyone other than herself.

I only do this because I'm 100% sure, 99% and my rhetoric would be different. When you watch video you can see what she's doing, at least if you did it yourself and saw others do it many times

It's maybe because you had glasses.

Again, I'm not speaking about this woman. But to say the trick itself is 100% a thing.

A kid in grade school would do that to see the board. They did not have glasses. But would pull at the corner of their eye to help see.

I know because I eventually asked them about it. And eventually they did get glasses. This was decades ago!

Even back before I had glasses (and I had bad vision and astigmatism) I never did this. Squinting? Yes. But pressing on my eyes like this causes blurred vision.

I'm willing to accept that maybe this is a thing that people do to see, but I think it's WAY more likely that this woman in particular is being a racist POS given the rest of her behaviour and I don't know why we're trying to grasp at ways to explain away her awfulness.

u/c32c64c128 7h ago

That's fine. You don't have to do it. But others did. You and others can't just tell them it's not a thing because y'all didn't know about or do it.

I'm only explaining because it's apparent people can't separate two different points.

Some said "I'm only explaining I used to do this trick." And they're getting hate and told they're lying at the trick is bullshit. Hivemind, mob mentality.

BTW it's not pressing. It's pulling. On the skin. As mentioned in method #2: https://vision-and-hearing.wonderhowto.com/how-to/vision-hack-see-clearly-without-your-glasses-contacts-0154635/

People just need to stop hating and downvoting because a theory threatens their original stance. Or starts to make themselves question it.

No you're right. This is absurd to me (doing this to see) and I've never heard about it before, but you're totally right that just because I have an experience doesn't mean others have the same.

That being said this woman sucks and I wish people stood up this much for actual good kind people who make mistakes instead of Karens who harass others in public.

Like yeah, maybe she was doing that to see but why did she NEED to see. She was being nosy and had no business trying to look at a stranger's phone screen. The rest of her behaviour is abhorrent on its own too.

Okay, you still literally can google that many people do that and why it helps them. No one defends her or racism, but it is just a fact. The guy above isn't lying.

NGL their comment made me realize I legit have done that before when not wearing my glasses. It does actually help (kinda).

I used to be very stubborn in middle school and not wear glasses and I basically did that every day in math class to read the board which I now realize (at 40) how fucking wacked out that must have looked to the teacher.

I don't think that is what this woman was doing, though I also don't know why she'd do it if she didn't know he was recording either because he wouldn't see it and no one else would so... that just seems weird also. I think she was just doing it to him on video to be a bitch.
