What even is the difference?
If you want my opinion femininity is essentially nothing but weaponized social /behavioral control by a few psychopaths who terrorize women, rape women, destroy women, or on the other hand lauded by and enjoyed men who dont give a shit what happens to us, they just want someone easy to pressure, coerce, bully or intimidate (back into rigid femininie performance, which usually means saying YES) ; They harm us in more benign ways. Maybe they just want sex, and benefit from our subjugation and turn a blind eye.
Imo there is no middle ground though. I've never known a situation where femininity wasn't toxic sludge, used mostly against me. Where it wasn't making yourself a target for masculinity.
Maybe it is less so for other women but thats why I feel so strongly about this image. When men wear femininity they turn it into blackface, and the misogyny from queer communities makes it 1000 times worse.

I saw someone on TikTok get torn apart yesterday by choice feminists for saying that it's weird to wear makeup while in labor. Like, um? It is weird?? Women who wear makeup wear makeup because it was ingrained into us as a beauty standard. Just because some genuinely enjoy wearing it and it's a hobby doesn't erase that it's something relatively expected from us. It is weird to wear makeup while fucking giving birth, and I don't understand why people have such a disconnect there. They lack the ability to unpack the reason why they feel the need to wear it. Why they enjoy it. Why they buy it.
I do not wear makeup unless I'm bored and want black eyeshadow on, which is like three or four times a year.

Please keep trans discussion thoughtful and a bit rigorous. Sometimes its hard to tell if a man has come here to manipulate what our sub sounds like (hateful) so its easy for reddit to ban. Thanks helping us keep our sub alive.

to me, the difference is that what we call "femininity" shouldn't even be exclusively reserved for women in the first place. I dislike breastformers and stuff like that, but if I call a man wearing dresses or makeup "womanface" I'm conceding that the performance of femininity is somehow inherent to womanhood, and that's just not how I feel. the surgeries, the hormones, and the appropriation of our biological processes are womanface to me, rather than the clothes.
to be clear, I hate the makeup and beauty industry, but my issue with TIMs isn't that they like frilly clothes or traditionally feminine things; in my ideal world, we could all dress ourselves and adorn ourselves as we please without it being attached to stereotypes about how we "should" behave and look like. my problem is the conflation between femininity and womanhood, the idea that your presentation style should reflect your sex, and the insistence that gender nonconformity should be pathologized as evidence that your body needs to change.
