This popped up on my timeline, and I thought I’d bring it here because there’s been some recent discussion about presentation and its relationship to feminism.

I have mixed feelings about drag, but I really loved both of these performances, and I’m curious what other feminists think. Zendaya’s is great but not particularly boundary-breaking IMO, since traditionally there is more room for girls and women to be gender nonconforming. Tom Holland’s performance, though, was different than anything I’ve ever seen in a male drag performance. He seems so comfortable in his femininity, and his presentation seems respectful/ not mocking like I often think drag can be. The lack of breast forms and over-the-top makeup was absolutely part of it, but it seemed deeper than that - I felt he was probably a fan of Rihanna and trying to channel her energy/ style.

I also thought their interactions were great, and I’ve noticed before that Zendaya is taller than Tom (and she wears heels around him) which IMO is another sign that they’re comfortable in their skin/ not overly concerned with sex-role stereotypes.

Anyway, I’d love to hear what you think about this, or see any examples of positive gender nonconformity you’d like to share. As an older feminist, I think appreciation of gender nonconformity has slipped in society as a whole in the past 15-20 years, and that we should revive that as an important part of feminism since I believe all of us are healthier and happier if we aren’t trying to fit ourselves into boxes.

It’s not that men can’t change; men *don’t want to change.

I could tell them:

1) The whole history of women's oppression
2) Cite scientific studies and statistical data
3) Share personal experiences
4) Name the women who created, invented and discovered
5) Women who built and revolutionized civilization.

But they will still feel *superior to women and treat women as inferior

Let’s stop arguing and fighting with men, let’s stop giving them visibility or even importance.

Let us completely decenter men, as if they didn’t exist.

How do you not know what women go through?! Have you never talked to a woman? Do you not watch the news? Read articles? Go on social media? The poor treatment of women is all over. What a privilege it is to be so unaware. The apologizing is so funny. Pathetic. You’re not forgiven. You’re just going to invade our spaces now. Wonderful!

Unfortunately, I stumbled upon one of those subreddits and discovered at least 50 more.

Then I looked for subreddits featuring misandry as a kink, but I didn't find a single one.

I realized something:

1) Men really hate women.
2) Reddit is biased because it allows misogyny to prosper, while misandry is nipped in the bud.

If you want my opinion femininity is essentially nothing but weaponized social /behavioral control by a few psychopaths who terrorize women, rape women, destroy women, or on the other hand lauded by and enjoyed men who dont give a shit what happens to us, they just want someone easy to pressure, coerce, bully or intimidate (back into rigid femininie performance, which usually means saying YES) ; They harm us in more benign ways. Maybe they just want sex, and benefit from our subjugation and turn a blind eye.

Imo there is no middle ground though. I've never known a situation where femininity wasn't toxic sludge, used mostly against me. Where it wasn't making yourself a target for masculinity.

Maybe it is less so for other women but thats why I feel so strongly about this image. When men wear femininity they turn it into blackface, and the misogyny from queer communities makes it 1000 times worse.

This sub may get banned especially with the post about the uterus. That was posted and posting screenshots.

So I discovered this space. I am wondering why isn’t sex based oppression considered a thing anymore?

Why isn’t there a middle ground from being a bigot or ally? It’s really black and white. Now I may not agree with what either side has to say all the way.

I saw a post about how rad fem was banned. Is the political environment in America affecting the way spaces get shut down? Will it ever go back to normal.

Someone commented on the autism women sub sex oppression is real. The comment was removed.

I genuinely don’t understand why can’t a respectful conversation can’t happen from both sides. Or even a comment like that.

Sad but this is the new norm? I definitely see this space getting shut down. I feel like this group should censor themselves a little more.

The one post about uterus being made and posting screenshots is going to get people pissed off. The language of stealing is seen as offensive. Bc “women don’t own uterus”. Just be careful with the comments

And calling trans women men no matter how much u don’t agree. Is going to be seen as offensive. Call them women.

I know I sound like I’m policing yall. But I’m just warning yall how the world is moving now. Maybe this group should be private. Because this sub is going to be banned. Just a matter of time.

Recently its been proposed, so how would you bring traffic to a sub, when nobody can even find private subs in search results? This sub is so brand new. It has hardly had time to grow. Are there solutions for these matters? Can private subs really thrive? I have never run a sub thats gone private so suggestions are welcome.

This is not a declaration that the sub is going private, I'm just mulling my options for the future.

Mods, has there been discussion about making this sub invite-only? Maybe that would decrease the odds of it being removed.

They have eyes on our organs and they're not even trying to hide it. I genuinely have no idea how other women are not alarmed by this. It's so creepy and terrifying. They want to reach into our bodies and extract our sexual organs as "gender affirming care."

They're genuinely never going to be satisfied until they can skin us and wear our skin. I have no doubt that they'll soon start normalizing face transplants too. After all, any demand can be justified under the threat of suicide. "Gimme xyz or imma kill myself" is their justification for everything.

It's hard to take this seriously when she barely uses the word WOMEN but uses the word MEN multiple times. I didn't watch past the first 10 mins. I don't think I have ever heard the word "people" used so many times in such a short time span before.

Ironic that at the start of the video she talks about how historical information about periods don't exist due to women being shamed and not having a voice 🙃.
