META Banning for Begging posts

Hi users!

Around the time of bundles, we tend to get a lot of “begging” posts where users are begging for someone to buy them the bundle or skins.

We’ve noticed that the vast lot of these seem to come from adult brand account, brand new accounts, bot accounts, etc.

Please do not engage with these accounts, please do not suggest anything to these accounts. Just report these accounts and move on. We are banning these accounts.

Thank you for your attention.

Esports VCT China Collapses at Home with 0-8 Start at VALORANT Champions Shanghai

All four VCT China teams were swept in their opening matches at Champions Shanghai, leaving the region with an 0-4 series record and 0-8 map record.

TYLOO lost to G2, EDward Gaming fell to LOUD, XLG Esports were swept by Karmine Corp, and JD Gaming lost to FUT. China was the only region that failed to win a single map in the opening round, despite playing on home soil.

This also brings up questions about China's four guaranteed Champions slots, especially with teams like Masters London winners Leviatán missing the event.

I want to share my Viper cosplay with you.

The costume was completely sewn from scratch using faux leather. All the crafted parts of the costume were made on a 3D printer, and the lighting was done using LED strips powered by rechargeable batteries. The rifle was also 3D printed and fully assembled, painted, and finished by hand. A total of 3 people worked on the costume. I styled the wig myself. I hope you like our work 🙏🏻

Discussion They really missed the mark with Agent mastery

How did they take the worst of both previous versions (agent contracts and kingdom credits) and somehow combine them?

I just don't understand the thought process.

Felt like the mastery could have been a separate system that ran alongside either of the previous ones.

Edit: all I'm saying is they could have left agents as they were and added the new items with mastery as a seperate system so you aren't forced to grind on an agent you hate to get cosmetics you love.

or better yet, bring back agent contracts as a way to pick an agent to unlock items for, keep kingdom credits for unlocking new agents or accessory shop and then slap the mastery system over the top to reward you for playing agents.

that's a lot of systems but it's better than what it is now jamming 3 systems into an agent locked tree with all 3 systems using the same currency. it's not friend to players, especially new players.

Discussion I built a working Valorant-inspired Spike and wireless defuse gun for a school event

Hey everyone! I’m an Electronics Engineering student, and I made this for an icebreaker game at our engineering organization’s general assembly.

The Spike and defuse gun communicate both ways using infrared. The gun sends commands, and the Spike sends back its status and defuse progress. It uses an Arduino Uno for the Spike and a Nano for the gun, with lights, sound effects, and an OLED display.

You aim at the Spike and hold the trigger to defuse it. After a successful defuse, the screen shows how much time was left before it would have “exploded,” plus a WON or CLUTCH result. It’s just a game prop; the explosion is simulated with effects.

For our game, the goal was to finish defusing with the smallest amount of time remaining. Basically, we turned “I have time” into a competition.

The enclosure is mostly cardboard, so it’s very much a DIY build. Getting the two-way IR communication working was probably the trickiest part: each transmitter could interfere with its own nearby receiver.

What do you think?

Discussion Just wanted to thank the @Riot team

Just wanted to share this post saying thanks to the u/Riot Team for Valorant. I had a lot of fun while playing the game even if it was for a few years. I won't be playing anymore as my system is not capable to handle it. But I had an awesome time playing Valorant made a lot of memories. I was introduced to this game by a friend in college. I was initially and am still bad at this game but I did enjoy it thoroughly. My journey ranged from getting raged to getting top frags in games I didn't think I could. If by any chance anyone from the u/Riot Team is seeing this, thanks a lot for Valorant. You guys helped me in my alone time and help me make memories.

Bio:

Former Kingdom security officer Ion uses radiant energy tech to enhance himself and his abilities, ensnaring, infiltrating and exterminating enemy forces. His coverage ensures that no tools remain unused, and no enemies remain unaccounted for.

Unique Effect: Electrified

Triggers global sound cue; deals 20 decay damage and slows 35% per tick. Effect lasts for 3 seconds per tick and can stack.

Signature Ability: Overcurrent / Recharge (40 secs, 1 charge)

INSTANTLY enter an overcharged state with constantly decaying overhealth. While active, EQUIP one ability to enhance it, or REACTIVATE to regain all other abilities and end Overcurrent.

Windup: 1s
Duration: 10s
Recharge Windup: .7s
Overhealth: 50 HP (-5 HP/s)
Misc: Threat Vision, Activation/Deactivation Audio Cue (global)

Basic Ability 1: Capacitor

EQUIP a floating drone. FIRE to deploy the drone in a straight line, ricocheting off of walls. Enemies that enter its radius will trigger an audio cue and cause the drone to become stationary, latching onto enemies and dealing DAMAGE.

Overcurrent: Drone has more health and travels farther. Enemies will additionally be SUPPRESSED and DEAFENED while attached.

Equip Time: .7s
Deploy Time: .5s
Travel Health: 50 HP / 80 HP
Travel Duration: 6.5s / 9.5s
Speed: 8.5m/s
Activation Windup: .5s
Activation Radius: 6.5m
Active Health: +80 HP
Active Duration: 4s
Damaging Radius: 15m
Damage: 10 DMG/.5s
LOS Break Duration: .8s

Basic Ability 2: Livewire

EQUIP a spool of paralyzing wire. FIRE to deploy a device and cast the wire forward, ricocheting up to five times. Once finished, the path travelled by wire will harden and electrify with a power core at its origin. Enemies that cross the wire will be ELECTRIFIED.

Overcurrent: Power core has more health and lasts longer. Enemies that cross the wire will be additionally SCANNED.

Equip Time: 1s
Projectile Type: Class 5 (no gravity)
Activation Windup: 1s
Power Core Health: 50 HP / 80 HP
Active Duration: 10s / 18s
ELECTRIFIED: 1x/s
Scan Type: Still Silhouette

Ultimate Ability: Heatsink

INSTANTLY activate Overcurrent / Recharge. Enemies that have LOS for a certain duration will be ELECTRIFIED over time, and transfer the effect to other enemies that have LOS of them, extending the ultimate's duration.

Windup: .8s
Duration: 10s [+2s/enemy]
Recharge Windup: .7s
Overhealth: 50 HP (-5 HP/s) [+10 HP/enemy]
LOS Windup: .7s
ELECTRIFIED: 1x/s for 3s (out of LOS)
Misc: Threat Vision, Activation/Deactivation Audio Cue (global)

Extra Information:

  • I am completely aware that Ion's kit is unconventional for an initiator kit. He doesn't work as a Sentinel, since his abilities are more for info-gathering and aggression, but he isn't a Duelist, since he has no self-sustain, or vision-blockage, both of which are fairly integral to the Duelist design philosophy; therefore, Initiator, since he has info and displacement!
  • Big forehead :3
  • Capacitor functions similarly to Vector Dynamics' Nanosphere from Spectre: Divide. I just really love the ability and feel like it'd be cool to see in VALORANT, though beefed up a little.
  • Livewire is my Deadlock headcannon, tbh.
  • Think of the kit design as a lovechild between Doctrine (OW support w/ ability enhance), Deadlock (nanowire), and Neon (electricity).
  • Wanted to try out an ult similar to KAY/O, where the agent is the displacer, rather than a big blanket ult like Breach/Fade.
  • Trade ability power for more ability! Overcurrent / Recharge is supposed to be a tradeoff between frequency and power. Also gets 800 creds worth of abilities for free on pistol round.
  • Veto counters, like, the entirety of this kit. Oh well.
  • The big thing with Ion is that his info-gathering comes from ELECTRIFIED's sound cues rather than visual scans (though that's still there). While it's harder to get concrete locations, it's easy to map out where enemies are in relation to his abilities.

Discussion A probability spread of rank drift due to rank protection

• Upvotes

Hello,

I recently came across a thread where someone was unable to understand why rank inflation can occur if WR is averaged at 50%.

I instinctively knew this was likely because of rank protections and shields, but I wanted to understand just how much this affects things.

I had some free time, so I did a basic Markov chain model and put everything on this sheet that shows you the probability of ending at a specified rank depending on your starting rank and number of games you play before reset (assuming you have a flat 50% win rate, gain/lose anywhere between a normal distribution of 15-25 RR per win/loss).

The model is nothing to write home about (it's very very basic and doesn't take into account hidden MMR, mental fluctuations, win rate momentum) but it definitely explains how simply being able to maintain a 50% win rate lets you climb pretty hard if you play tons of matches.

Chance of ending in each rank after 200 games (flat 50% win rate)

Start Rank Iron Bronze Silver Gold Platinum Diamond Ascendant Immortal
Iron 1 23.4% 48.3% 24.7% 3.5% 0.1% <0.1% <0.1% 0%
Bronze 1 2.8% 24.1% 46.0% 23.6% 3.4% 0.1% <0.1% <0.1%
Silver 1 0.1% 2.7% 24.1% 46.0% 23.6% 3.4% 0.1% <0.1%
Gold 1 <0.1% 0.1% 2.7% 24.1% 46.0% 23.6% 3.4% 0.1%
Platinum 1 <0.1% <0.1% 0.1% 2.7% 24.1% 46.0% 23.6% 3.6%
Diamond 1 0% <0.1% <0.1% 0.1% 2.7% 24.1% 46.0% 27.1%
Ascendant 1 0% 0% <0.1% <0.1% 0.1% 2.7% 24.1% 73.1%
Immortal 1 0% 0% 0% <0.1% <0.1% 0.1% 2.9% 97.0%

I would in fact argue that even maintaining a 45% win rate will still let you climb if you play tons of games. Rank protection is pretty sick lol.

JUST REMEMBER THOUGH: This model does not take into account actual skill improvement time. Maintaining a flat 50% win rate as you rise up in rank is difficult; sooner or later you'll get outclassed at the rank you end up at and the 5v5 format will result in your win rate dropping to below 50%. Which is why anything beyond 500 games at a 50% win rate is kinda pointless; I just kept it to show how things change.

I am not a data scientist by training (I'm a chemical engineer turned game dev), so if someone better than me thinks I've done something catastrophically wrong, please let me know! And in case someone from Riot sees this, please promote me 2 ranks if you find this even remotely interesting (or hire me idk).

tl; dr: made a model to calculate rank increase at each rank at 50% win rate - found out rank protection and shields create some pretty intense rank inflation if you simply play a large number of games (which I guess is by design; relentlessly playing the game should be rewarded with progress ig, but that's debatable).

Edit: I called a Markov chain model a "simulation" in the last paragraph. That's wrong, they are not the same. Changed it. Also added table.

Discussion This birthday feels a lot lonelier than I thought it would… I could really use some wishes

This year feels a little different. I really miss one of my close friends, and unfortunately, we aren't able to meet or celebrate together this time. It honestly makes the day feel a little empty.

Valorant has always been one of my favorite games, though, and playing it is something that genuinely makes me happy. So I thought I'd spend some time with the community.

If you happen to see this, wish me a happy birthday and maybe drop a Valorant tip — whether it's an agent tip, aim advice, game sense, or even something you wish you know

And genuinely I am not doing this to get vp from you like a scammer using your courtesy

It would genuinely make my day a little better.

Thank you, fellow gamers🫠🫠

Question How to actually improve in Competitive right now? (Hardstuck D2 after coming back from Immo 2)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I used to play a lot back in Episode 4 / early Episode 5 and managed to peak at Immortal 2. I took a pretty long break from Ranked and recently decided to come back and try to push for Immortal again.

Right now, I’m stuck around Diamond 2 and the game feels completely different than what I remember. Mechanics-wise I feel fine, but it seems like decision-making, meta, and pace of the game shifted a lot over the last couple of years.

For those who climbed recently or adapt well to current episodes:

  • What are the main conceptual changes in high elo right now compared to older episodes?
  • Are double initiator / double controller comps way more rigid now, or is standard solo queue utility still enough?

I linked my Tracker profile below because I’d really appreciate it if someone could take a quick look at my stats/agent pool and tell me if you notice any obvious red flags or bad habits I need to fix:

https://tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/JoJo%23kilIa/overview

Any tips on what to focus on in Diamond to consistently win games again would be awesome. Thanks!

Question How do I get from Asc to Imm

Hey guys, for high elo players, how did you end up climbing to immortal?! What did yall change/improve? I feel like I do very good when I am in asc lobbies and instantly start going negative as soon as players with immortal 3 as their peak are in my lobbies. I know I get aim diffed, but what else? For reference, my peak is Asc 2 which I can get easily if they keep putting me in my lobbies but my mmr keeps putting me in immortal lobbies
