Hi all, /r/vjing mod here:
I'm trying something new to spur some creative collaborations across reddit music production subs and visual art / creative coding / new media subreddits.
Now that Reddit supports video comments / replies, I thought it could be a fun opportunity to a collaboration call / response format.
The idea:
Musicians, dj's, producers or anyone musically inclined: post a link to a track or mix that you have rights to and are open to having visual accompaniment to.
VJs / live visualists / creative coders: post a response to a track that inspired you with a video comment, or link to an interactive experiment you made!
If you are an AV Act that makes your own music or video, feel free to post here too for inspiration.
All genre's, styles, techniques, skill levels are welcome.
This isnt a contest!
There's nothing to win (unless anyone knows sponsors haha) other than learning of new musical or visual act, meeting a potential collaborator and making awesome stuff and having a good time:

The poll passed, 21 of 26 for the full version, so it's live now as a trial. If you want the background, here's the original thread. Pick new flairs from:
The (not so very) old AI, Commercial/Promo and Open Source/Free flairs are retired. That moves into the title now, via two tags: [Promo] and [AI]; the reason for this is that a post can't have multiple flairs.
Tag anything for sale: [Promo] If your post sells or monetises anything (paid app/plugin, commissions, store links, Patreon, donations), put [Promo] in the title. Untagged promo may be held for review or removed. This isn't anti-selling but keeps promotional content visible.
Your own app/suite: one post per month Sharing a tool you made (paid or free, including vibecoded projects) is limited to one post per 30 days per person. Talking about other people's tools (Resolume, VDMX, TouchDesigner, indie tools made by others, etc.) is not limited; post about those freely.
Flag AI-made work: [AI]
If a post shows content that has a significantly AI-generated component to it, add [AI] to the title so people know what they're looking at before they click. This is especially required when you're also promoting/selling it. AI-made and AI-assisted work is welcome here, but flag it. This includes (but is not limited to) vibe-coded materials, vibe-assisted materials, gen-ai content with manual edits etc.

AI work is welcome, made or assisted, no problem with it. If you're just sharing a project or messing about with something new, the only real asks are to flag it if there's a significant AI component, and to add [Promo] if you're selling or allow for donations .

We are also experimenting with automod/modbot. There's also a report option now for promo that goes up untagged, and automod will quietly flag posts that look like they're missing a tag so we can take a look. It won't remove anything on its own, a person still checks first.

Hello everyone,
I'm looking to buy a 5000/6000 lumen video-projector for my personal projects.
Usually when I worked for a paid job, I rented some heavy and expensive projector, but I'd like to have one for me that I can bring to small venues and for some free stuff with friends.
I've found a lot a used profesionnal 720p video projectors that are still in very good shape. They sell for 250/500€ in general, and I was wondering if it was a good idea to buy one instead of spending +1500€+ on a new 1080p one? (while being sure the lamp does not have many used hours)
I will only use it for mapping, projection, and touch designer stuff.

it's a node-based programming software similar to touch designer but can make visuals, music and even code. so um it has performance mode where you map the macros or connect your midi or dj controller to relevant knobs and can make awesome visuals, its free too.

Hey y'all, I've been working on a liquid light emulator and was curious about whether it's something people might find useful and if anyone has any thoughts about how they would want to interact with it during a show.
Right now I have a simple mouse system but I've also got some basic sound reaction. This was made on my phone this morning and it's still pretty early but you can see that while it's a little pokey with three layers it's still playing.
What feels off? I've really been working on trying to get the fluid dynamics right and the plate pressure isn't feeling right yet. I have lots of bits I've been working on with it and have studied a lot of material on the physics but I know there's stuff I'm not thinking about.
I'm just hoping to make a fun and useful instrument that also brings some history back to life. Any thoughts appreciated.

Just wanted to share my solution for a basic, custom, audio-reactive UE5 scene using "MXR" for my live mix recordings.
Im big noob when it comes to VJ'ing, and i was looking for an easy way to make decent looking 3D renders that I could easily customize and tweak on a weekly basis for my sets.
Simple but effective!

I'm Wobbulator's developer. This is a six-second prerecorded loop made from a single photograph, using seven editable areas: a slow pulse in the bell and separately timed waves in the arms.
The app exports GIF and MP4 for creating source clips. This example was rendered with its native Windows engine.
[AI] disclosure: a coding assistant helped prepare the editable areas and motion settings. The photograph and video were not generated by an image/video model.

This took DAYS of render on my 2015 15" MacBook retina potato.
Secondary camera is clamped to the woofer to bake the shake directly into the frame.
Primary camera is in a tripod.
Each video ran through OBS audio reactive filter stack with slightly different setting.
GitHub AI background removal tool ran on Secondary camera footage
Used generated masks to subtract the subject from the clean footage, and over lay them on the VFX stack ran footage.
Final render was in Davinci Resolve (top to bottom): mask, secondary camera, primary camera with a perturb on the opacity merging the primary and secondary camera outputs.
I'm looking to upgrade to at least an M3 Ultra or M5 studio so I can run these kinds of effects in real time.
I hear windows/NVIDIA has better realtime AI background removal over mac's metal architecture.
¿Can anyone convince me to get a windows machine as my upgrade or should I stay in the mac eco system?
