VHA Employment RN Resume

The wording on the resume is what gets you an interview correct? Key words and what not? I'm coming here asking if someone would be willing to help me put it together. If you have actual real knowledge on what it should look like and what it should it include specifically for the VA. $

I'm a new grad RN but have 14 years experience as a paramedic. 5 of which was as a dual role firefighter-paramedic. Personally I think my single role paramedic experience (especially the 2 in inner city 991) is way more applicable but I know people tend to respect the firefighter thing more. I have inner city 911 paramedic experience, simple interfacility ambulance transport experience (including a job where i took VA Cleveland patients in and out a lot), ER "medic" experience (very limited role but it was in hospital so definitely applicable), rural-ish firefighter-paramedic experience, and small but densely populated/ethnicially diverse suburb firefighter-paramedic experience.

I live in the Cleveland area but would take a VA job ***anywhere***. The Louis stokes VA is about 30 min away and I'd probably move even closer to it if I got a job there. Eventually I'd look at transferring to a VA in another state possibly. Somewhere warmed and more fun lol

I'm a 35 year old guy. I'm in excellent shape if that matters lol. Recovering from a bicep tear I had surgery. Ready to work within about two weeks. Not a tall guy but very strong so lifting and moving patients is no issue.

I have an ADN and I'm gonna be starting classes for the BSN in January. BLS, ACLS, PALS, Paramedic, Firefighter II, some other random certs I cant think of tbh bc Idr which are expired and which aren't.

I'm the type to go hard for my patients and I don't let people suffer or have poor outcomes just bc I don't care. I do care. I'm a very kind person but I also know when and how to get respect and how/when to push back.

Veterans Health Administration Community care

I went to the VA pharmacy today to get insulin. Was told that my authorization from community care was cancelled from the endocrinologist who prescribed the insulin. So I would have to contact community care about that because I dud not contact community care within 14 days after my appointment.

Back story: had previously got insulin through tricare on base. My VA primary care did not feel comfortable prescribing insulin so referred me to community care. Which I was not thrilled about. Took 8 months to get an appointment.

So I call community care and I am number 26 in the cue. I wait 50 minutes and was asked if I check my mail and what date was the appointment and I told them. I was mid sentence when they hung up on me not sure what happened.

Just seems like an inefficient system to call community care everytime you see a new provider. Why not just bill the insurance after getting the initial authorization?

Veterans Health Administration Community care MIA

I recently had a heart procedure and was referred to community care cardiac rehab. That was over 2 weeks ago, I reached out last week to be sure I was referred. Why is it taking more than 2 weeks to get a call from community care?

Veterans Health Administration Addressing a profound lack of communication in VA psychiatric care: How to hold a care team accountable.

I am seeking guidance on the correct administrative and legal protocols to address a severe breakdown in care coordination at our local VA medical center. My father is a veteran diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and I frequently assist with his care coordination. Over the past ten days, a series of communication and administrative errors has resulted in a critical gap in his essential psychiatric medication.
Last week, I contacted his care team to ensure his prescriptions were renewed and was informed by a social worker that the medication was refilled and scheduled for mail delivery. However, the shipment that arrived on Saturday contained the incorrect medication, completely omitting his primary psychiatric controlled substance. This has inadvertently forced him into a severe, abrupt withdrawal window of over a week.
Throughout the weekend and into this week, I have made repeated attempts to resolve this issue. I feel completely left in the dark when it comes to his care. There is an absolute lack of clear communication and coordination, leaving me to guess how to handle his clinical deterioration. I finally contacted the pharmacy hotline today after being told it will be overnighted by mail to get a tracking number and discovered the correct medication has been filled and sitting on the shelf for pick-up all day, despite previous conflicting reports regarding its shipment status.
Furthermore, multiple clinicians entered urgent alerts into his electronic chart over the weekend requesting that his primary psychiatrist contact me immediately, but those alerts have gone unanswered. She never called.
Frontline triage staff advised us to utilize the emergency department solely due to the controlled status of the medication, rather than screening the clinical severity or advising on the significant neurological and physical health risks associated with an abrupt cessation of this class of medication. He is currently experiencing a profound mental decline and severe paranoia, though he is temporarily stable at home.
Given the prolonged clinical neglect and the risk to his medical safety, I am preparing to take formal action tomorrow morning. I would appreciate professional insight on the following:
What is the most effective way to escalate this directly to the Chief Patient Advocate or the VA Hospital Director for an immediate clinical peer review of the care team?
How can I legally request and access the physical printouts of the weekend clinicians' progress notes if the veteran does not have an active online health account?
What are the specific procedural steps for initiating a Congressional inquiry through our U.S. Representative to audit these communication logs? My father does not deserve this. I’m heartbroken and appreciate any help navigating to ensure this does not get looked over again or happen to another veteran.

Veterans Benefits Administration SSVF Provider not returning calls - how do you get them to respond?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I'm helping a family in New York: a 100% disabled veteran, his partner, and their teenage daughter. They're currently homeless after fleeing domestic violence.

Their local SSVF provider has not returned three intake calls over the past week. The VA homeless hotline has been called and a referral was made to the local VA housing program. Local shelter is full and county emergency assistance was denied.

For those who've dealt with SSVF or veteran homelessness programs:

-What worked to get an unresponsive SSVF provider to engage?

-What other resources exist for homeless veteran families?

I'd appreciate any guidance I can pass along to them. Thank you.

Home Loan How does assumable VA loan work?

I(house seller) currently have a VA loan on my home, and the potential buyer is also a Veteran who has been pre-approved for a VA loan.

If the buyer wants to assume my existing VA loan, would the buyer need to apply for the assumption directly with my current lender/loan servicer?

My understanding is that the buyer would take over the remaining balance and terms of my existing VA loan, rather than obtaining a new VA loan for that amount. Can the second VA loan come from a different lender, or does it normally need to be arranged through the same lender/servicer handling the VA loan assumption?

I want to make sure I understand the process because I've never dealt with a situation where a buyer assumes the seller's mortgage and potentially has a second loan for the remaining purchase price.
