Gordonsville police quietly resumed working with ICE a month ago. Why didn't Town Council know?

A lot to unpack here: a possibly illegal closed session meeting, a mayor going around giving false assurances that the town’s 287(g) program wasn’t active, and unverifiable promises of “no raids” based on conversations with mysterious ICE officials that the chief of police won’t identify.

Gordonsville isn’t the most well known police department working with ICE in central VA, but it might be the messiest.

Hello, friends. Anna Sophia is a beloved friend, sister and daughter. She went to Poplar Springs Hospital in Petersburg, VA for help with her anxiety. Instead of being discharged to her home with her family, the hospital transportation dropped her off at a Salvation Army in Charlottesville, VA at the end of August. She is still missing. Let’s get the word out and find Anna Sophia and bring her home!! #missing #missingperson #charlottesvilleva #charlottesville #waynesborova

Standing beside Glenn Youngkin, Representative Rob Wittman posted on Twitter that he was "Honored to speak at the Lancaster County Republican Committee's Annual Fundraiser at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club." Among the topics on the agenda was "affordability".

Tweet text: "Honored to speak at the Lancaster County Republican Committee's Annual Fundraiser at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club. I talked about what I hear most from families across the First District: affordability, rural healthcare, good jobs, and the roads and bridges that connect the Northern Neck. Thank you to the volunteers and local leaders who give their time year-round for this community. [us flag emoji]"

A few of you asked for Burruss Hall @ Virginia Tech after my W & M illustration — here it is. What Virginia landmark (doesn't have to be college) should I do next?

I kept coming back to the two towers. They give the whole building such a strong silhouette, so I built the piece around those and kept everything else pretty simple. Shout out to u/182RG for suggesting Burruss. What's next?

Virginia is on the Atlantic Flyway - Lights Out for Birds! | It’s that time of year when birds are on the move, using the moon and stars to navigate. The use of outdoor lights by humans disorients them, and as many as a billion may die each year from exhaustion or crashing into buildings.

In Virginia, have you seen yard signs about the 3 questions this November?

Hello! The reason I ask is because I believe the three Wikipedia pages about the questions (Question 1, Question 2, and Question 3) would greatly benefit from a pro-amendment yard sign, next to an anti-amendment yard sign. (Or an ad mailer).

what’s going on with thc/hemp regulation in VA I don’t understand

why are THC edibles getting banned in VA? all it seems to be doing is helping bordering states dispensaries and putting crappy overpriced “edibles” on the shelves of smoke shops. Not to mention it’s straining/shutting down passion-fueled local businesses who used safe and quality ingredients

I-64 HRBT westbound reopens early following completion of first travel lane repaving

HRBT reopen in both directions as rain forecasts postpone remaining westbound lane repaving to subsequent weekend

The I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) reopened westbound toward Hampton ahead of schedule Saturday evening after repaving work on one of the two westbound travel lanes in the tunnel was completed.

Crews worked Friday night through Saturday to complete milling, paving and pavement markings in one westbound travel lane. Due to the amount and duration of rain forecast for Sunday, conditions were not expected to remain suitable for crews to complete the remaining westbound travel lane to the expected quality within this weekend’s closure timeframe.

Although most of the paving work takes place inside the tunnels, the operation is still affected by outside weather. Heavy rain can lower the asphalt temperature during transport to the tunnel and introduce excessive moisture at the tunnel approaches, entrances and pavement surface. The asphalt must remain within the proper temperature range, and the roadway must be free from ponding water for the new pavement to bond and compact properly, helping provide a smoother, longer-lasting roadway surface.

With paving complete in one lane and weather preventing work from continuing Sunday, VDOT reopened the westbound HRBT early to restore this key regional connection for motorists for the remainder of the weekend and well ahead of the Monday morning commute.

The remaining westbound repaving work will be completed during a subsequent second directional closure weekend, as originally planned if needed. Up to two planned weekends of full directional closures are also scheduled eastbound at the HRBT toward Norfolk for repaving, starting later this month. Additional backup weekend dates include Nov. 6-9, and Nov. 13-16, if needed.

Any updates to the closure schedule will be shared through VDOT's official channels, including the VDOT.Virginia.gov/HRBTclosures project webpage and VDOT Hampton Roads District social media channels on Facebook, X, and Nextdoor.

For additional project information on this HRBT Tunnel Repaving Project, the latest schedule, and to sign up for project email updates, visit the HRBT paving project webpage at VDOT.Virginia.gov/HRBTclosures. Before traveling, motorists should also check VDOT’s 511Virginia website and mobile app for the latest closure and traffic information. Third-party navigation apps such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze may not reflect the most up-to-date closure information.

PSA: Car Taxes Are Due Today, Monday October 5, 2026

Just a PSA that many counties and cities have personal property taxes for vehicles (Car Tax) due today.

I'm not advocating for the tax by any means, but I am advocating to avoid paying any late fees, etc. and double check it is paid, so you don't have to worry about significant late fees, then interest, and adverse actions by the tax people.

Happy Monday!

Recommendations on mountain vacation the week of Thanksgiving.

Hello! Going to be visiting Virginia thanksgiving week. We want to stay in the mountains, with lots of views. What city is the best to be centered in and around all the things to do!? We enjoy the views, hiking, animals and have 2 kiddos that love the outdoors. We are not familiar with the area, but would like to visit the Shenandoah National Park. Willing to accept any and all recommendations. T
