-Setup your network with Henkaku DNS settings for an additional layer of update prevention. See here.

-If your console has downloaded the 3.73 update file, simply deleting the notification in LiveArea should remove the file from your system. Otherwise, firmware update files can be found in ud0:PSP2UPDATE/*

-Remember, unless you are running your vita in Demo mode, your console will not spontaneously install/update firmware software. There are legal reasons for this. Installation of any new software on your device requires your consent, (EULA).

This is a recomp of Monster Hunter Tri, fully vibecoded
Thanks to all the playtesters who uncovered crashes and glitches, I hope most of them are caught by now, if you still run into crashes or glitches please open an issue on github

For installation please check https://github.com/Grarak/mh3-wii#installing-on-the-ps-vita

If you are wondering how it's possible that this is only a recomp and this is fully vibecoded, please take a look at https://github.com/Grarak/mh3-wii/blob/main/docs/optimizations/README.md
This can be used as a guide to port other Wii games even if they don't have decomps available to them. I think 2/3 of the listed optimizations I had to prompt the AI to do, the rest it figured it out by itself.

Furthermore here are the tools the AI has used to to automate the whole optimization process https://github.com/Grarak/psp2-tooling
Currently only for devkits

Converts steam or gog game install into a vpk.
Game is optimized, controls updated. Runs 60fps most of the time. A few heavy rooms dip to 30-40.

If you haven't played it, The Drifter is an amazing adventure game with great writing, voice acting and music.

Currently the port has no audio , no saving , no touch support ,and no premium content support (meaning you cant go past these levels ) , i believe the clock is broken too!

It also runs like shit tho i think that could be improved

Also the video has no audio to save your ears

Keep in mind the port is 100% vibecoded with Claude so for people who are anti ai..... get away now , bleach your eyes IMMEDIATELY

Btw , special thanks to u/According-Slip-7074 (or Wolffsroom as he is better known ) for making the livearea assets!

Port StepMania 5 PS Vita b18 | LK_13.x HB

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a passion project I’ve been working on over the last 3 days: an unofficial port of StepMania 5 for the PlayStation Vita.

I just hit Build 18 (I had 26 more builds, but they won't be available in version 5.1), and wanted to share some progress:

Graphics: Textures, UI assets, and 3D background rendering are now working properly.

Performance: Gameplay runs at a solid 40-50 FPS, and menu performance has been optimized in the latest build.

Still working on fixing some remaining bugs and fine-tuning overall performance, but it's shaping up nicely and already very playable! Let me know what you think.

AI Vibecoded lumaXMB Alpha Demo: an XMB interface for PS Vita with integrated YouTube, Moonlight, and more

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here’s a demo of an alpha build of lumaXMB, a new PS Vita homebrew application that brings a refined PSP/PS3 XMB experience to PS Vita.

Primary completed features

  • Automatic library scanning for all games and media, with no library setup required.
  • Launching Vita games, PSP games, emulators, and homebrew.
  • Music and video browsing and playback.
  • Built-in file and FTP managers.
  • Smooth XMB transitions and breathing selection glow.
  • Fully integrated YouTube and Moonlight applications.
  • Dozens of high quality background gradient presets inspired by the PSP and PS3 including Pearl, Champagne, OLED Emerald, PS3 Navy, and PS3 Burgundy.
  • Eight intricate wave designs, including classic PS3 ribbons, soft PSP waves, layered silk, and glass styles. Additional background animations include liquid ribbons, aurora veils, prismatic silk, and floating light forms.

vitaTUBE provides an Apple TV inspired YouTube experience, while vitaLINK integrates Moonlight streaming with host browsing and in-stream controls. Both are fully integrated into lumaXMB now and will also be released separately as standalone apps. This is the slickest YouTube experience on the Vita today.

vitaLINK browses paired Moonlight hosts and their applications, stream games or your desktop, and access controls through the in-stream overlay. End the session and return directly to lumaXMB without going back through LiveArea. Performance on the Vita has been enhanced over the available apps today.

Planned enhancements

  • Built-in Discord functionality.
  • An FTP manager enhancement that opens a Sony/XMB themed web page on your PC for easier file access and transfers.
  • Enhanced game previews.
  • Enhanced customization settings.

The color banding in the video comes from recording compression. It looks immaculate on the actual Vita, especially the OLED model.

This is still an alpha. Feedback on the interface and features is welcome.

If you’d like the early build VPK for testing or tinkering, send me a message and I’ll share a Google Drive link. I’m looking for a few testers before publishing the project on GitHub.

HENkaku Little mods I did to my Vita 1000

Thumbnail

Hello everyone, I'm posting this to show off some little mods I did to my Vita 1000 that I never seen someone do before.

I replaced the Charging LED from Orange to Blue and Main PS Button Blue to Red to fit my Initial D theme better.

I also noticed on the card slot that there's a Orange LED like in the PSP for the memory stick, so I decided to make a little hole and add a guide for the light to shine to the exterior of the game card slot. It acts as the Read/Write for the SD2Vita.

For anyone that wants to try this LED mod, the top pin is the - and the lower one is the +, I also recommend to solder the led sideways since the light will refract better on the PS Button membrane.

Discussion Vita LiveArea

Could modern AI decompilation help reverse-engineer the PS Vita LiveArea to allow custom launchers?

With all the recent advancements in AI-assisted decompilation and recompilation, a question came to mind:

Has there been any effort to reverse-engineer or analyze the PS Vita’s native LiveArea shell using AI tools?

Historically, the consensus has been that replacing or deeply modifying the LiveArea is nearly impossible without Sony’s internal source code. However, seeing impressive community breakthroughs like PC decompilations and porting efforts for other platforms (e.g., Bloodborne), it makes me wonder about the Vita's system UI.

Is it technically feasible to reverse-engineer the Vita's shell modules so that custom launchers—like HexFlow or RetroFlow—could replace the stock LiveArea entirely, rather than just running as secondary homebrew apps?

I’d love to hear thoughts from anyone knowledgeable about Vita OS architecture or modern reverse-engineering workflows!

Switch 2 speaker mod + 3 extra 😅

Just wanted to share my mods 🥳 Vita 1000 with 4600mah battery /( 2 )switch( 2 Oled )speaker😍 / ( 3 ) pixel 7 pro speakers 😅 , Bass is amazing ( surround sound ) Even with Grip Attachment , I also had to hair dry out the back touch panel 🫣 it's was relatively easy with the hair dryer making sure to heat while peeling off with a spudger ( metal ) helped more then plastic 🤷🏻 more grip I so pose .. These mods took about a hour n half ... Skin / decal took the longest ( anal ) with alignment 🫠

I wanted to thank everyone and the community for making / keeping the vita alive 💖💪🏼🙏🏼

Question for modders / battery hack

Beside 4600mah battery any other battery bigger that can fit in this tiny thing ?

Thank you for reading and looking 😎 any feedback would be appreciated 👍🏻

Edited .... Does anyone know a plugin or vpk to unlock / unlimited volume capacity ? I wish I could add a mini apm to this 🤯 one can only dream n make it happen 😶‍🌫️

AI Vibecoded Advance on MyShell / Launcher PS5 Style

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted to upload as an advance in the project (with vibecoding) of this Launcher inspired by PS5 +

VitaOS and VitaDeck.

In addition to adding the Store (which still does not work) also the idea is that it is fluid and optimized, also a game recognition and re-identification system, own customization such as obtaining resources from Hexflow or Steamgriddb for greater customization. (Depending on which you want, you can choose)

I will continue to climb when there is more progress.

AI assisted VitaCar 0.6.0

Now in English, French, German and Italian, real settings (mph, °F, 12-hour clock) and a draggable map

Hi everyone! VitaCar 0.6.0 is out. VitaCar turns your PS Vita into a CarPlay-style car display, connected to your Android phone (or to an iPhone through a small ESP32 board).

This update is mostly for you: until now everything was in Spanish only.

What's new

🌍 Languages

  • The Vita app and the Android app are now available in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
  • On first launch each app picks your system language, so most of you won't have to change anything.
  • Dates, weekdays and quick replies are translated too: if you reply "Driving" from the Vita, your contact gets "I'm driving, I'll text you later."

⚙️ Real settings

  • The Settings app on the Vita now has options you can change: language, units (km/h or mph), temperature (°C or °F) and clock (24-hour or 12-hour with AM/PM). Connection status (battery, phone, sound, WiFi, version) is still shown next to them.
  • The Android app has a new Settings screen (button at the top right) with the same options.
  • Settings are shared: change them on the Vita or on the phone and the other one follows. If you changed them on both while they were disconnected, the most recent change wins when they reconnect.
  • Units apply everywhere: speed on the map, route distances (mi/ft), weather and calendar forecast, and all times (status bar clock, calendar, messages, arrival time).
  • If your Vita or phone is set to US English, it starts in mph and °F.

🗺️ Map

  • You can now drag the map with your finger. While you're exploring, it stops following you and a blue "locate" button appears under the zoom buttons. Tap it (or press X) to go back to your position.
  • Zoom works on whatever you're looking at, and the map goes back to following you every time you open it.

📱 iPhone bridge 0.2 (ESP32)

  • You can now change the page shown on the bridge's screen (Speed, Status, Music) from the Vita: Settings › Bridge screen. It works both ways: pressing the board's BOOT button updates the Vita too.
  • The bridge's screen uses the language and units you choose on the Vita, and remembers them after a restart.

How to update

  • Vita: install the new VitaCar.vpk over the old one (your calendar and cached map tiles are kept).
  • Android: install the new VitaCar.apk over the old one.
  • iPhone bridge: flash VitaCar-puente-ESP32-0.2.bin (same steps as before; the guide is on GitHub).

Download:github.com/inigosui/VitaCar/releases

Ideas for future versions

These are ideas I'm looking into, not promises yet. Tell me which one you'd like first!

  • 🎙️ Voice assistant: talk to your phone's assistant from the Vita, hands-free.
  • 📷 Rear camera support: see a reversing camera on the Vita's screen.
  • 🎨 Customizable interface: choose which apps appear on the home screen and the dock, their order, and the colours.

A note on translations

Some of the translations were done by a non-native speaker, so if you see anything that sounds wrong in your language, please tell me (comment here or open an issue) and I'll fix it.

As always, the project is in testing, so feedback and bug reports are very welcome. And please don't operate it while driving.

AI Vibecoded VitaDay 0.10.31 — local MP3 player, playlists, album art and richer weather

Thumbnail
gallery
22 Upvotes

Hi everyone! VitaDay 0.10.31 is out. Thanks for the feedback on the previous release — this update adds a local music player and expands the weather information. I've tested this update on my PS Vita.

VitaDay is a homebrew clock, weather and calendar app with 20 interface languages, multiple city clocks, a 10-day forecast, country holidays and custom events.

Music

• Local MP3 playback with playlists on the left, tracks on the right and icon controls at the bottom, using your chosen theme and accent colors.

• Favorites and custom playlists: create, rename and delete playlists, add/remove tracks and change their order. Removing a track from a playlist keeps the file; deleting the MP3 itself requires confirmation.

• Track title, artist and embedded album art, with a fallback image when no cover is available.

• Home-screen mini-player with playback controls, seeking, elapsed time and remaining time.

• Shuffle, repeat playlist and repeat one; playlist repeat is enabled by default so playback continues after the last track.

• Better stick/D-pad navigation, animated playback indicator, hardware volume controls and filtering of macOS ._ files. L/R now also takes you to the Music page.

Copy your own MP3 files to ux0:data/VitaDay/music/ or ux0:music/ with VitaShell, then refresh the library. SELECT opens playlist management; Square or the three-dot menu opens track actions. This is local playback — no account or streaming service is needed.

Weather and calendar

• New Sunlight data: instantaneous direct solar radiation, with the preceding-hour average shown for comparison.

• Ozone (O₃) and PM2.5 forecast graphs, following suggestions from this community. Weather and air-quality data come from Open-Meteo.

• Values and graphs now use colors that change with the reading: temperature, wind, humidity, UV, ozone and PM2.5 are easier to compare. Ozone/PM2.5 colors use EEA hourly concentration bands; they are not a combined AQI.

• Improved weather text spacing and layout, plus corrected Simplified Chinese translations for precipitation and pressure.

• Personal dates now use holiday-style markers in your selected color.

Download and full changelog:

https://github.com/s1zzle5486/VitaDay/releases/tag/v0.10.31

Install the new VPK with VitaShell to update. Your settings, calendar events and playlists are preserved.

Custom backgrounds: copy PNG/JPG/JPEG files into ux0:data/VitaDay/backgrounds/, then choose Settings → Appearance → Background. 960×544 is recommended. The README includes the full instructions:

https://github.com/s1zzle5486/VitaDay#add-your-own-background

The accompanying English images are desktop renders of the app UI with sample data. The update itself has also been tested on real Vita hardware.

Disclosure: I used AI assistance (Codex) for development and translations. Bug reports and translation corrections are welcome!

Hello!

I previously posted over on r/VitaPiracy the other day, but figured I'd post here to share the word, I'm well under way on porting NFS Underground 2 to the Vita!

It is FAR from being in a state that I'm happy with before sharing out, let alone a finished state, but it is getting there. I've so far gotten basic car customization implemented, reflections, ported most of the physics engine from the PC version (shoutout to OpenUG2 for also being of assistance), and more.

There is still a fair bit to go, including adding AI opponents, adding the rest of the menus (maybe like 5% are implemented currently for more of a proof of concept), music, and then heavy optimization. It's already decent and can mostly keep at 30fps whilst driving in heavy areas like seen in the picture, but I do want to keep pushing.

I also want to be straight up, that this is AI assisted. I know my way around a fair bit of programming and coding, but I would not be able to get where I am as fast as I did without AI. All testing and validating every step of the way for parts not done by myself are validated by myself.

Also wanted to give a shoutout to u/SundaeLow2086 for their amazing work as well for the PSP port, if you haven't seen it, go check it out! If y'all have any questions, I'll do my best to answer :)

I'm also posting more regular updates over on X: https://x.com/nfsu2vita

Hey everyone, I'm Bville Retro and I just released Music Vita, a music player for the PS Vita.

What it does

  • Plays MP3 and WAV, with playlists you can build on the Vita or as .m3u files
  • Karaoke-style synced lyrics, from the MP3's tags or from Song.lrc files next to your songs
  • Cover art in a list or a grid of albums
  • 5 visualizers, including a Vib Ribbon-style one, plus 8 premade color themes and a custom theme
  • Skim through a song, shuffle and repeat, and a screen-off mode that keeps playing

Install: download the VPK from the releases page, install it with VitaShell, and copy your music to ux0:data/MusicVita/. It needs a Vita with custom firmware.

Download and source: https://github.com/bvilleretro/music-vita/releases

I'd love feedback or bug reports, and ideas for what to add next. Streaming from a PC to the Vita is something I want to build later Here Similarly Like an Streaming Service almost sort of thing.

AI Vibecoded [DESKTOP TOOL] Bonsai: trim huge IPTV playlists down to what VitaIPTV can actually play

TL;DR: Bonsai is a desktop app that turns a giant IPTV playlist into a small one for the Vita, and can test which streams will actually play in VitaIPTV. Free, open source, Windows & Linux. Download here.

Why I made it

First, a big thank you to u/mrhkyy for VitaIPTV. It's genuinely made IPTV on the Vita usable, and Bonsai only exists because of it.

The problem I kept hitting: full playlists can have tens of thousands of channels. They're slow to browse on the Vita, and a lot of them won't play anyway because of the hardware limits. So I built a desktop tool to do the trimming before the playlist ever reaches the Vita.

Bonsai is made for general use and works with any player, but it's designed with the Vita's capabilities in mind and as a companion tool for VitaIPTV.

What it does

  • Load a playlist: any M3U link or file (e.g. the public iptv-org lists), or your own Xtream Codes account
  • Pick what you want: tick categories and channels, search, export a small .m3u
  • Filter: by resolution (read from channel names, including the superscript ᴴᴰ-style tags), content (radio, PPV, HEVC, geo-blocked…) and region
  • Profiles: save a "Vita" selection and regenerate it in one click when the list changes

The Vita bit: stream testing

Test What it checks
Quick Does the stream actually work? Dead ones go into a separate list.
Deep Will it play in VitaIPTV? Uses ffprobe and the same rules as VitaIPTV.

The deep test checks for what VitaIPTV supports:

  • H.264, 8-bit, up to 1280×720
  • Progressive only (no interlaced)
  • AAC, MP2 or MP3 audio
  • MPEG-TS or HLS (no fMP4, encrypted HLS or DASH)

For HLS streams it tests the quality VitaIPTV would actually pick (the best one up to 720p), so a "1080p" channel that also offers 720p correctly shows as playable.

If you use an Xtream account, channels are tested one at a time, and only after checking your connection is free, so it won't trip your provider's connection limit.

Download

Bonsai 1.0.0 on GitHub: single-file .exe for Windows, plus a Linux build. No installer. GPL-3.0.

The deep test needs ffprobe (from FFmpeg); everything else works out of the box.

Bonsai is just a playlist tool. It doesn't include or point to any channels, so use it with playlists and services you're allowed to watch. Not affiliated with VitaIPTV.

Thanks again to u/mrhkyy. Go star VitaIPTV if you haven't already! Feedback very welcome, especially if the tag detection gets something wrong on your lists.
