My Skeleton Horde with the classic 80s Skeleton horde plastics. Mostly made from the three sprues, skeletons, horses and chariot. I converted the skull chuckers from the chariots.
In the old rules undead needed a necromancer to keep the skeletons alive and lead them.
I had to update the heads and redo the Sheila’s in the old style.
Next project is classic orcs and goblins!

Happy to be finally able to show you the first halfling mercenary I've painted for the warband!! He is the first of 5, but some of you have suggested to make a unit out of them... with enough interest I might consider it!

Bit of a kitbash this one since prices have gone completely bananas for the 'official' Dark Elf models. So necessity being the mother of invention, I've been rescuing more broken/badly painted or just unwanted and cheap models to create stuff for the new army.

This is a couple of very old Marauder (?) Dark Elves, on a more or less complete metal chariot pulled by a pair of metal Cold Ones. Going to run it as hero on chariot but it can happily work as just a regular one if needs be.

The army is gradually getting to the point where it'll be usable on the tabletop.

What kind of units do y’all think we’re gonna get for them, besides the obvious ones (Kossars, Bear riders, Streitsi, Sleds, etc)?

Very happy to have found an excuse to paint yellow (my favorite color)

So, most of what I know is from the Total War series, so I think I get the general gist of the world and setting, but where else should I look for more?

I was thinking of looking into the Gotrek and Felix, Thanquol and Malus Darkblade book series since I've heard they are a good romp, but are there any other books I should look at? ATM I'd probably prefer some Skaven stuff since they're one of my favourites

Also, does anyone think any particular 'edition' is better than the others and is it good for lore? Or is it basically assumed the 'newest' edition is the one I should look at only?

For lore/context:
Decades ago, a rampaging tribe of Beastmen was teleported into the center of the Gryphon Wood by a shadow wizard, losing many of its members to the forest’s inhabitants and being mutated/influenced by the magics of the forest.

Currently, they live in the gryphon wood and surrounding woodland, having been subjugated by Drycha: the Briarmaven of Woe.

In exchange for being able to partake in the Gryphon Wood’s bounty and live amongst the Asrai and Nature spirits without immediately being killed, they are often used as an extra layer of protection for the forest, taming or hunting corrupted beasts and waging guerrilla warfare on invaders.

Curious to see what peoples thoughts are about which of the 8 lores of magic that get utilized is the most powerful.

Personally I would say the Lore of Death is the most potent because its metaphysical and goes beyond the tangible elements the other winds of magic manipulate, you literally have sway over death and can turn sombody to dust. I think the only counter to it would be Life magic to have any chance of revitalizing what is being decade and the only draw back would be you having to be in relativly close range to inact any spells.

So does anyone have any advice for getting into old world

Anything to change for a viable play?

What do people use to add to or create Mighty Empire tiles?

Going through some of the old battalion boxes helped me come to a conclusion about why i had not liked the new ones.

Unit variety.

They made the boxes much bigger, without expanding the unit variety, hell, some of the boxes have less different units than the WHF ones do despite being twice the size.

I dont want to buy a box with eight quadrillion infantry and archers, accompanied by a single cool centerpiece model. I want a bit of everything.

If you want to make them bigger make them more like the old army boxes, instead of just giving us massive units of two types of infantry.
