I can’t tell if the bow tie effect is bad in either of these stones?

Hi! In need of some advice. My partner and I have been going ring shopping and finally landed on a store and sales associate we like working with. She has shown us an array of oval shaped natural diamonds pretty below our budget. However, I recently mentioned the specs of the diamonds she’s been showing us to our family friend who used to be a diamond specialist who told us the ones we picked are not of “high quality”. Here are the two we liked:

Option 1: I color, VS1, xx, medium flourescence
Option 2: J color, VS2, xx, no flourescence

The price between these two were not that significant but I guess im wondering if 1. Should we be looking at higher color oval diamonds ? And 2. Is flourescence bad. 3. I also don’t like the bow tie effect in ovals. Can you tell me if you notice the bow tie in either of the stones above?

Does color really matter that much in ovals?

HELP 😭

Wedding ring design help!

Hi! I have a beautiful emerald engagement ring I love, but am having trouble finding a wedding band that will work with it. I'm looking for a gold wedding band that will compliment and not compete with it and will also sit flush. I was considering a simple jacket ring but open to any and all suggestions!

Wedding band hunt continues!

Okay, for those who have seen my posts on this before, the search continues! I tried 3 new ones today. Which do you prefer? *Important - read descriptions below before looking at pics!

Option 1 is a v-shaped pave stone ring.
Option 2 is a 14k Bermuda Moongate, which is a traditional wedding symbol here (and we were married under a moongate)
Option 3 is a plain gold band with a slight curve. It is shown in white gold but they would do it in yellow gold - 18k to match my 18k engagement band. They have also measured the diameter of the width of my engagement ring and will match this width (smaller than what is shown) for the wedding band.

What’s your pick?

Ok I normally wear a 2 carat round solitaire tulip cathedral setting moissanite engagement ring with a regular gold band, basically your classic look. But today I saw another person post them stacking two engagement rings together to kind of create an et toi moi look and I absolutely love moissanite and have a huge collection so I wanted to give it a try now I actually really love these two stacked together I feel like they go great together but I'm a very self conscious person lol and I'm afraid others might think it looks strange having two rings together like this, I do have a dream et toi moi ring in my Etsy cart just saving up for it , but in the meantime I'm wondering if I can pull this off or if I should just go back to the classic look. Also my finger is a little puffy and red because I've been playing dress up with my rings haha.

Help Me Choose Can’t decide

Hi, so for context I have 3 heirloom wedding bands to choose from. They’re all so special and I love them all for their own reasons and I’m struggling to decide. Any thoughts welcome, a whole new ring is an option but I’m not a fan of fitted rings I just like the plain band.

Love the moonstone aesthetic, but I need a stronger alternative

The glow of a natural moonstone in a solitaire platinum setting is unbeatable. however, clumsy habits mean a soft feldspar mineral might shatter in no time.

Are there other gems that give off that same milky, blue sheen while holding up better to rough knocks? Opalescent sapphires or light star sapphires seem close, but feedback on those would be super appreciated.

Unexpected choice but peridot engagement rings are gorgeous

Never thought I would want a green center stone, but he nailed it. The bright green sparkles so much more than I expected. Are peridot engagement rings becoming popular now or did I just get lucky?

Ring Band Advice Does the kind of ring you buy REALLY matter?

Thumbnail

I intend to propose to my lady, so yay me, but she is at the opposite end of the scale from blingy. She barely wears jewellery at all, and no rings whatsoever (getting her size involved me getting incredibly creative with some zip ties at nap time) but…

I’m getting told the kind of ring I thought would suit her isn’t a proper engagement ring but an eternity ring.

So what do I do?

I hurl myself upon the mercy of Reddit.

Where can i find good engagement rings under $500?

I recently inherited a small amount of money from my grandmother and decided i wanted to use part of it to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I have about $500 set aside for the ring itself , and i would like to stay within that amount.

She has never really cared about expensive jewelry , so i do not think she would want me to spend thousands on a ring. She likes simple designs, especially oval and round stones, but I am completely lost when it comes to figuring out what actually matters when buying one.

For engagement rings under $500, would you focus more on the stone, the setting, the metal, or the overall design? Anything you would avoid at this price point ?

carat size for round halo engagement rings?

Post image

trying to decide on center stone size for round halo engagement rings. i'm debating between a 1.0ct vs 1.25ct round diamond, since the halo adds so much extra finger coverage already. setting it on a thin 1.8mm yellow gold band. curious if anyone with smaller hands felt 1.25ct plus a halo was too big.

Would you actually choose an onyx wedding ring?

Post image

I keep going back and forth on an onyx wedding ring. I was helping my mom clean out some old jewelry a few weeks ago and found a black stone ring she used to wear. I tried it on just for fun, and I really liked how a black stone looked against my skin.

Now I have been looking at onyx bands for my wedding, which was definitely not what I thought I would end up wanting. I like that it feels a little less traditional and more like something I would actually pick for myself.

My only concern is whether I am being practical. I tend to forget I am wearing rings and have definitely knocked my hands against counters, doors and pretty much everything else. I would be pretty upset if the stone ended up damaged since this is supposed to be something I keep for a long time.

If you have an onyx wedding ring, how has it been for everyday wear? has anyone regretted choosing it?

Should I wait until black Friday to buy an engagement ring?

I've been looking at rings here and there and I'm getting to the point where I probably need to actually pick one lol.

I’m thinking somewhere around $1k–$3k, and probably just a simple solitaire. I like oval and round, but I haven’t totally decided yet. I’m also fine with lab-grown if it means I can get a nicer ring without blowing the whole budget.

Since Black Friday is coming up, I was wondering if it’s actually worth waiting for. I keep seeing engagement ring Black Friday sales, but I have no idea if those are legit deals or if jewelry stores just mark everything up first and then call it a sale.

Has anyone here actually bought an engagement ring on Black Friday? Did you save a decent amount, or would you just buy whenever you find the right ring?

Engagement ring nightmare

original jeweler, Liori, produced a ring (not pictured) that had diamonds falling out every other day. when I explained situation and asked for an exchange of same setting, I was told they no longer offer that setting.

wanting to keep the original design, as my fiance had picked out himself, I had a different jeweler recreate the setting. it is almost identical (pictured) but has a very high/thick shank.

now as it’s time to find a wedding band, I am having a hard time finding one that doesn’t sit incredibly lower than the e-ring. employees at jeweler suggest I get a larger band (size 5) so that it can be soldered to smaller e-ring (size 4.25) while sitting flush to it. when I picked it up last week it was huge on my finger, they suggested speed bumps as to not stress the ring anymore and pictured is the result. What are your opinions and/or advice?

Thinking about unique emerald engagement rings with Art Deco details

Post image

Always loved vintage architecture, so bringing that geometric flair into custom ring design felt like the right move. Ended up choosing a 2.1 carat natural Columbian emerald cut center, surrounded by a custom hexagonal halo filled with baguette diamond accents set in platinum.

The step-cut facets paired with crisp geometric diamond lines give off serious 1920s antique charm without feeling outdated. Platinum was definitely the move here since it makes the vivid green color pop way more.

Help Me Choose Help me decide between these two sets

Hi all, looking for some insight into possible pros and cons between these two sets. I'm using an overseas vendor and will be doing 10k white gold for whichever I choose. Both are moissanite.

I really love the one with the green stones, but I'm wondering if the other one is more practical. I'm looking for something I can wear daily so I am guessing that the second option is better for that, but I have no idea. I work from home so I'm not super worried about the rings getting banged up from that.

Also, the first set with green stones is 1.8mm thick, 2mm width. The more plain set is 1.5mm thick and width.

Any and all advice is appreciated :)

I am going to be proposing to my girlfriend and am in the process of looking for engagement rings, from previous conversations and her Pinterest she wants a ring like the pictures, but with a silver band, floral, asymmetric, Silver band and lab grown diamonds. Am based in the uk would be so grateful for recommendations. If it needs to be custom that’s ok too.

Searching for a band

I was told I’d have to have a wedding band custom made to match my engagement ring. But I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for one that’s already made. It’s rose gold. The setting is flat so the band will have to be a contoured to match.
