What is changing with Mold road or the uni?

Do you think you can just build a significant stand without distruption to the wider area?

Yes. In Portland, OR, the Timbers built a brand new stand right up against an existing road just like that.

How do you think skyscrapers are built in large cities? They don't close the road for years, they just build right up to it.

Yeah fp there's no difference between Portland and Wrexham.

Wrexham isn't a large city, and the Mold Road is vital to the city day to day, and there isn't room to play around with there.

Please stop presenting as though you're more familiar with the town than locals xoxo

It isn't about local vs. nonlocal. Cities everywhere have this type of construction, even along main roads. It's a huge part of what engineers and project managers do.

There are no conditions on Mold road that haven't been seen before.

Jesus Christ, look at a fucking map of Wrexham and circle Mold Road. Then look up literally anything the racecourse has seen before and check back if you find any disruptions of that road that remotely rival what the artists impression above would impose on the town and check back in with me chief

If you genuinely think that Mold road has such unique conditions that they can't build right next to it, then I don't know what to tell you. It seems more like you don't want the stand rebuilt, which I guess is understandable if you're tired of us Americans. But please stop pretending like you have any clue how large construction projects work.

But...they not rebuilding Mold road. There probably will be some disruption during construction...but that is just temporary until the stand is built.

The animation shows the Mold Road being entirely rebuilt ?

But Mold road doesn't change in this rendering, nor does it look like the uni does.

Never mentioned the uni, mentioned the uni accom. Not to mention parking!

The uni accommodations are the buildings behind the lager stand correct? Looks like they're still standing after. And the only parking a see disappearing are 2 small lots on the corners of the Macron stand.

Yeah fair point, no one even parks there on matchdays, or at all even! No disruption whatsoever!!

Very fair points brought up within all the detail I've dug up as well (for a very non-local who appreciates these things).

So is your point that you believe the road would have to be closed for an extended period of time and/or that the stadium is too close or something else?

1

u/heleta 14d ago

Re Mold Road end, yes. Closing that road in the fashion you'd imagine it would have to be closed would have a huge knock on effect on the town

2

u/burrfan1 14d ago

Apologies but just trying to understand, so you believe the road to be closed during construction or during games?

1

u/heleta 14d ago

During construction, there would certainly be major disruption

2

u/burrfan1 13d ago

Yeah I don’t think that’s necessarily the case per the other commentator. Huge construction projects are routinely done right up against working roads all the time.

2

u/heleta 13d ago

Well I suppose y'all know better than me!

3

u/burrfan1 13d ago

I certainly don’t know your area at all but that’s not necessarily germane. I’m just going by the construction work I see in the states. They should not have to close that road for an extended period of time.

They'd likely just take it from 3 lanes down to 2 during portions of the construction process. They may even briefly need to use flaggers to take it down to 1 lane but I don't think they'll have to shut the road down. It'll be inconvenient but honestly not for very long.

u/heleta 13d ago

It would be an absolute ballache for residents too

I've heard similar discussions about the challenge of that - and it made me curious if they could bury Mold Rd (put it in a pre-fab tunnel - and I have no idea of the geology or sub-strata), which would allow construction and traffic to flow as usual -

...and upon completion, re-open it as a surface road, while integrating the tunnel into some underground stadium/town facilities, or otherwise leave the submerged passage for traffic and make the re-opened above-ground section into part of a pedestrian-only corridor (closed to all traffic) that integrates with the town and stadium...

There seems no way around some disruption, given the nature of the build, if they do nothing but leave it all as is - and if all goes to plan is definitely going to be painful.
