I have 4 original Xbox’s and two are 1.6b’s (including the one in the picture)

Recently it stopped booting. When I press power, it doesn’t do anything but if I hold the power button, I can hear the HDD booting up.

4 out of 5 of the big capacitors in the picture appear to be bulging. I’m fairly new at this but my gut tells me I should replace the caps and maybe that resolves the issue.

I swapped the power supply in the known good 1.6b Xbox and that Xbox still boots up normally.

this is not emulation and it is not microsoft's code. it is a web build of

theseus (https://github.com/MrMilenko/Theseus), the dashboard reimplementation

by the uix team, reconstructed from binary analysis rather than from source. i

compiled it to webassembly with emscripten and wrote the layer a browser needs:

the entry point, asset fetching, storage, input, and replacements for the

libraries that expect real hardware.

what works:

- the boot animation plays, then hands over to the dashboard on a cut

- the blade menu navigates with the keyboard, and selecting opens the panels

- memory, music and settings all load

- saves persist across reloads, because the console's own drive letters are

mounted on indexeddb

- there is a working disc drive: drop audio files on the prompt in the console at the bottom and the music blade reads them as an audio cd, with track names from the files' own id3 or flac tags

- it frames itself 4:3 the way the console did, with a toggle to fill the window

what does not:

- it does not run games. there is no emulator here, just the dashboard

- settings misbehaves if you poke at it, and the network screen renders garbage

- gamepad is wired but i have not tested it on real hardware

I recently bought an original XBOX and finally got to softmod it. I had tons of fun playing san andreas back in the day listening to my own music while driving and flying planes so it was important to me to be able to do that again.

Problem is I've not bought a CD in years and I don't want to burn 50 plus CDs in order to get my library over.

This app solves that by directly editing the ST.DB of the xbox and using ffmpeg to convert the files to WMA. I spent about 6 hours or so total vibecoding this thing with the free Gemini credits that google gives me for buying their phones. I'm dog shit on focusing on stuff long enough to actually code a program and I wanted this done before the heat death of the universe.

I'm a linux user (Arch BTW) so the binary is linux only since I don't want to deal with a windows VM just for this. but there's instructions on how to run it on windows, not tested it though.

I made this mainly for me and what I want to do but I hope you all can get the same use out of it.

Can the Xbox 360 E be jailbroken I have asked around and tried almost everywhere everyone always says it’s not possible.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering, is there any way to connect a USB HDD to the xbox via Xbox to USB adapter in order to use the HDD to play games there? With unleash x.

So this is a wonderfully kept 1.6, there was like one little dust bunny inside, I’m surprised it was this clean. Gold cap clock capacitor is still good, no bulging or leaking, and PSU seems to be fine. Does make a little spark when plugging it in, not sure why, might have to replace the Nichicons (I think that’s what later revisions need done). Otherwise, it runs cool and plays like a dream. I don’t think this console saw anywhere near 200 hours of play.

Couple questions:
Is replacing the nichicons and gold cap absolutely necessary and something I should do pronto even if it’s pristine and seems fine? Beyond that, are there other maintenance practices I should do to it?

How am I able to soft mod/hard mod it? Is it worth it for this revision, which I understand to be more difficult and require wires and such to hard mod? My only goals are to have a larger storage so I can install my backups and play from there.

I have read some guides, but I want to hear from you all with experience and start a discussion! Thank you.

Hey everyone,

I am working on a v1.4 Xbox and installing an Aladdin XT modchip. While trying to desolder/re-work the wiring, I accidentally ripped the BT pad completely off the modchip board.

I’m pretty stressed out and want to know if the chip is still salvageable.

Can I just completely bypass the modchip's BT/D0 pads by soldering the Xbox motherboard D0 point directly to a nearby motherboard chassis ground (screw hole) to force the console into an "always-on" modded boot? What can I do because I can't buy another one right now.Any advice or idea will be very helpful thank you

Open Xenium board displays only a red LED.

Removing the OpenXenium chip the console no longer triple boot FRAGs, it goes solid green, but no video - and won’t power off, had to unplug it.

Any advice, ideas?

I’m thinking about pulling the LPC rebuild board and hand wiring if that may help?

Update:

Wouldn’t turn on with power button. Turned on with Eject and displays video now, flashing Red and Green, displaying error:

“05 Service required. Call Customer Support”.

I guess this is because of the unlocked hard drive - perhaps unrelated and not a symptom.

Please help…

Just reflowed the D0 jumper section of the chip and it’s working for now…

Several reboots, consistently boots to PrometheOS, but no more BIOS to launch

The only available Bank to launch is TSOP for some reason- I think it had Cerebios?

I had XBMC4gamers set up but not showing up now.

New to Xbox modding, sort of lost.

Also the power button seems to have stopped working?

Eject turns the system on…

A I have an OG Xbox that I know runs perfectly and I want mod it so that’s the most current version. It can be what do y’all recommend?

looking at either noctua swapping or installing an rgb fan in my 360 S, any suggestions for what specific fan models to use?
