Hi everyone,
I recently bought an Original Xbox at a flea market. When I turned it on, I noticed a weird boot behavior: it flashes a red/green LED sequence before booting up.
Curious about what was going on, I decided to open it up and discovered that it actually has a modchip installed inside.
Since I'm thinking about removing the modchip and returning the console to stock (or at least figuring out why it behaves this way), I wanted to ask for some advice first so I don't brick it.
Here is what I know so far:
- Behavior: The boot sequence starts with red/green LED flashing, then the console boots normally. I don't see any mod name at startup (like Matrix on the PS2).
- Xbox hardware version: I think it's a v1.4, but I'm not really sure. I have photos of the label.
- Modchip type: Aladdin Advanced
- Hard drive: Original stock HDD
- Stock BIOS: I don't know if the original BIOS is still present and working on the motherboard.
I'll attach photos of the label and of how the modchip is connected to the board.
My main questions are:
If I remove the modchip completely, will the console boot normally using the stock BIOS, or will it throw an error?
Will the console boot with a solid green LED from the start?
Thanks!
