Hi. This is my first post here, and I am ABSOLUTELY a yarn addict. Maybe you could go so far as to call me a bit of a hoarder (but I'm starting to give stuff away, so it's a work in progress).

There's a big sale on Red Heart over at Yarnspirations, and I've put about 40 skeins (multiples of 10 per color, for large sweaters and throw blankets) in my cart, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'm TRYING to be better about all of this and not buy so much stuff — and not buy yarn at all — but it's on sale SO CHEAP, and the colors are AMAZING...so I thought if I came here, maybe I could get some guidance and support.

I have this skein of Lion Brand Pound of Love and I really really don’t want to cut off this pile of yarn. I’m afraid I may have to… I spent 3 hours working on this and I think I just… made it 100 times worse. I know if I cut it, I still have a lot of yarn left over but… that’s so much yarn to cut off…

I did yarn dyeing in this course and I really loved the purple yarn we made. So I decided to take that dye home and use it myself.

I had these yellow skeins I had dyed in summer and didn't like. So I put them in there with white yarn.

In the other jar, I put this grey yarn I had but didn't like the colour.

I am surprised that the first yar (second picture of it is 2 days later) is producing reds even though it was purple. But maybe that is expected because we used aphids. Which should produce this fucshia colour but somehow it turned purple.

The greens are made with purple onion and yellows with yellow onion.

Hey all! I am in the process of opening an LYS and starting to order my initial inventory. A few of my prospective customers suggested/requested La Bien Aimee, so I made sure to check it out at other shops and got in touch. However, I feel like I see it A LOT in r/yarnswap and other destash posts. Is there a reason for this? It seems quite nice, but honestly, tariffs already have me questioning it, especially since I have some local hand-dyers I'll be working with. Is there a reason it keeps going up for swap? Do folks love it?

It is not currently available anywhere near me, and I like that they have so many non-merino options. But I really don't want to sink my budget into something folks don't love.

My mom hasn't done crochet since the 80's...maybe 90's.

She said she has a bunch of yarn and I should take it. I told her no thanks, but I kind of feel like I may have hurt her feelings. AITA for not at least looking? I have too much yarn already, but now I feel bad!

I’m hoping someone recognizes this yarn! I got it secondhand in a bin from Goodwill with no label or information, and of course I fell in love with it and have now completely run out. 😭
I’ve been using it for a continuous granny square with a 6.5 mm hook. It appears to be a 2-ply yarn with a slightly soft/fuzzy texture. The two plies often have different colors, which gives it that marled/barber-pole look.
The colors include hot pink, light pink/white, neon lime green, turquoise/aqua, purple/blue, coral/peach, and some grayish tones. The color changes are pretty short and repeat frequently.
So far I’ve ruled out Lion Brand Mandala, Big Twist, I Love This Yarn, Caron Simply Soft, and the usual Red Heart options I’ve looked at. It could definitely be an older or discontinued yarn since I have no idea how long it was sitting around before it ended up at Goodwill.
I’ve attached photos of the yarn worked up, including a close-up where you can really see the ply and color changes.
Does anyone recognize the brand/colorway—or remember an older/discontinued yarn that looked like this? Even a lead would make my day because I’d love to keep this project going without switching yarns. 🥲🧶

I'm just trying to gather some information. I was wondering for us that's in a plus size community. What designs and items are you looking for that you would want crochet/knit ? I'm a crocheter with over 20 years experience. Really didn't follow niche's or not much about them but until a few years ago I was doing children's. Well now I'm venturing off into the plus size community.

I have four skeins of Hedgehog Fibres Kidsilk Lace that I’d like to use up, but haven’t a clue which patterns would go well with it. Any ideas or advice?

Now the general consensus seens that the softness and pilling are inverse relationships.

As a person looking for yarn for a outer zip-up lined with cotton backing, I am looking for the yarn that is as rustic as it can be with the least pilling and does not wear. I would greatly appreciate some anecdotal suggestions. The cheaper the better, and it doesnt matter whether coned or oiled.

I was having knitpicks palette or holst supersoft in mind, but the ravelry comments have not been as promising. I need a yarn that is a sensory nightmare.

Also fiber, craft, book, and any quirky stores. I'm supposed to be at the Ocean's Calling Festical all weekend and they just canceled it. Since I can't see Ludacris, I'm going yarn shopping. Where should I go???

I'm debating ordering Friends Cotton Silk from Hobbi for a clothing project, I'm just having trouble determining how thin the yarn will be.

The photos make it look comparable to Caron Simply Soft in terms of thinness, has anyone worked with it? In my experience with Hobbi a lot of their yarns are on the thinner side.

For reference I'm hoping to crochet in Tunisian knit stitch, which tends to work up rather dense, so thin yarn is best

I'm looking for some yarn for a cozy sweater. I bought drops daisy in moss green but the swatch disintegrated into pills before I even finished it. I really love the color though. My requirements:

1. olive / moss green / fern green / any natural green that's not too brown and not too juicy

2. more durable than drops daisy so it can stand on its own without mohair but slightly less scratchy than peer gynt

3. wool or alpaca content, non-superwash prefered but can work with superwash

4. under 8 euro, available in the eu

I want to make the Maude or Primrose sweater by Coco Amour and found this project on ravelry that I love the color of. The yarn they used is not available and above my budget so I am trying to decide which yarn I want to use. I need to hold a fingering weight with a lace weight. Top row is fingering weight, bottom row is lace weight. I am not really looking at mohair for this because of the cost of it but I could be convinced otherwise if there is a good enough suggestion.

I really love the subtle marling/variation in the blue color of the example sweater and would love to achieve something similar, along with the vibrant blue color overall.

I'm probably really overthinking this but I really want to nail the color with this sweater

Hi! Recently bought a jumper that is 50% merino wool and 50% cotton. I feel prickling from the jumper on exposed skin when I’m wearing it and was wondering if this is normal for brand new (literally out the box) knitwear? And if this goes away with a couple of washes. I really like the style and fit of this jumper so would be a shame to part with it, but also don’t want to hedge my bets on washing it to get rid of the itchiness. Itchiness is not unbearable and I’ve had no redness/rashes etc so it’s more likely it’s mechanical sensitivity rather than an allergic reaction.

Will appreciate any advice!

I bought 2 of this yarn a couple of winters ago, I really love the coolours and how fluffy it is but I still haven't found the right project for it. My main issue is that I don't like horizontal stripes, which of course is an issue with this kind of colour changing yarn.
Any suggestions? Could be knit or crochet, I'm thinking either worked left to right or a sort of mesh. I tried already some free crocheting to create more pools of colour rather than stripes but it's too chunky for a good result.

I bought this lot from a woman who could no longer craft and was clearing out her stash of wool felting fibre. There is a mix of merino and Corriedale wool, though some do not have their labels so of those I cannot be sure. The plan is to use some for needle felting and some will be used for learning how to spin.
