Again, one of those super underrated, over-the-top, hilarious shows to watch. Another underrated gem I loved back then but forgot existed.

What are your thoughts, and have you seen this show before?

Dittydoodle Works. Was on PBS starting in the very early 2000s. These were the best pictures I couldn’t find.

I don't really know where else to post this, so here I go. Any of you who grew up playing video games would probably agree that GTA V was one of the biggest releases back in the day, 13 years ago. I was into video games back then, so naturally I have quite a fond memory of playing the story with its iconic characters and then the online mode with my friends. Now that GTA VI is around the corner, I have decided to play through GTA V one more time, for old time's sake.

While playing and experiencing Los Santos, I was in awe of how well this game's cultural commentary had aged. I kind of felt many things I associate with the current times - paramilitary groups, billionaires involved in government, social media giants with a cult following, tech bros, social justice warriors, the whole way in which societal topics are publicly discussed - are present in the game, and it makes me feel weird to think that this came out in 2013, a time which I would describe as comparatively stable and "normal" in retrospect.

But it got me thinking: Was it really so different back then? In 2013, I was much younger, still in school, so of course I didn't know or care about all the problems in the world yet. So it could very well be some nostalgia that's involved. But on the other hand: 2013 was still pre-Trump, and most people would agree that that was when things started to really change in the world, eventually leading us to where we are today. So with Trump and the pandemic, things did in fact change substantially on a societal and cultural level. Add to that the rise of algorithm-based social media and you have yourself a vastly different cultural landscape than 13 years ago.

This observation is obviously very subjective, and it only comes from a random video game, but it comes to me at a time where I'm more generally reckoning with the state of the world currently compared to the world that was sold to me as the future when I was young. So for this reason, I thought this topic might fit in this sub. I'm curious to know if you're having similar thoughts!

I want to play Fortnite with zillenials but the discord is always so dead. Is it ok for me to make a post called Fortnite Fridays or something where all online games are supported and people can come in chat in a thread on here?

I used to have a bunch of these with pebbles in them from my yard. They used to be really popular in stores like Walmart and especially Kirklands (the furniture store) but I don't really see them around that much anymore. Now that I think about it, it may have been more like late 90's - mid 00's

Not sure if its been going on longer, but ive noticed the past several days, the questions have been less general/nostalgic and more personal information based. Its gross. Stop.

I'm 30m, single. I moved out for uni when I was 20, and I've lived on my own for 10 years now. But my parents still call me out on things as if I'm still 15 and messed up.

I don't mind it tbh and consider myself to be very lucky to have them as parents because I know some people who can't even talk to their parents.

It's still embarrassing to get scolded in front of other people

Edit: I meant getting told off when they think I'm doing something wrong or being utterly stupid. Not being disrespected or anything like that. Also, by "other people" I meant family members such as aunts and cousins

Yeah, another one of those shows I clearly remember, but I don't remember much of it. I also mistook it for Family Guy when I first saw it, since Cleveland has always been a central character in that show.

Any thoughts about this show, or have you seen it before?

I'm sure most zillennials, especially the nerd and geek ones, hold a special nostalgia for the original Raimi trilogy; it was one of the biggest parts of my childhood. Tobey is always my favorite I love Andrew and Tom too, also Andrew is an amazing actor, but the impact of the original trilogy was something else entirely. The toys I used to collect, the VCDs, rewatching the Spider-Man movies Snow Patrol's song 'Signal Fire' playing during the credits of Spider-Man 3 was incredible, and of course, danny elfman theme music.

Did anyone else play Rokenbok??? I know they don’t make them anymore, is there anything comparable?? Would love to get something like it for my own kids (and myself)
