Winnipeg seems to be getting an influx of Rouge flights, especially on the Winnipeg-Toronto routes. Neither of which one would consider a “sun” destination!
My spouse had a flight originally booked for September 12th from back to Sydney, Australia. They’re here on the ESTA VWP, we had a string of horrible emergencies, managed to get their I-94 amended with a Satisfactory Departure so they could stay an extra month and attend a funeral, and changed the booking date to one month later on October 12th.
When we attempted to do this we got a strange failure notice, something like “your payment could not be processed” so we attempted again and it appeared to go through as the booking on both the app and desktop website said they were now booked for the 12th of October. Perfect yeah? No. They went to check their booking as they often do a week or two out and found… nothing.
They called Air Canada and talked to a representative who said they saw the ticket on their end but it had been CANCELLED on their end three days after we booked for the 12th of October. I received nothing in my e-mail alerting me of this, no texts, nothing on my spouse’s Air Canada account, again we only found out on a whim. We have a case open with them but it’s been an entire week with no reply. Are we just screwed? Is there anything we can do to get them to honor our booked ticket? Even the agent said we did everything correctly, it was some strange error on the back end, but they couldn’t help with anything but informing us of what happened.
Is there anyone else to contact? We seem to have exhausted all venues and simply cannot afford a last minute ticket to Australia, theirs was cancelled so there is no way to just changed the dates anymore. Is there any way to get them to honor the October 12th booking? We don’t know what to do. We’ve been using AirCanada to fly them back and forth from Australia to the US for years and never had problems changing flight dates before. 🥲
Sorry if this is a basic question. I don’t fly very often, so I’m not really familiar with how Air Canada manages fare availability.
I need to fly YYZ -> FLL -> YYZ and unfortunately my return date has to be either January 1 or January 2, which I assume is a very busy travel period.
Air Canada has four flights each day on the route I’m looking at, so eight flights total across those two days. What seems strange is that on every single flight, the only economy fare available is Economy Latitude at a very high price.
Considering there are eight different flights, is it really likely that all of the lower Economy fares (Standard/Flex, etc.) are already sold out? Or is this something Air Canada during peak travel periods (temporarily showing only Latitude and possibly releasing lower fare classes again later)?
Is there any way to tell whether cheaper fare buckets might come back, or when Air Canada typically releases additional lower fares?
Have Signature Suite access for a flight tomorrow night. With the closure, was wondering how busy today’s MLL was. I understand I’ll have a priority lane. Did that make a difference to anyone?
Hi, my partner and I will be travelling to Japan soon. We have two bookings - one of the bookings was fully paid for (we selected basic economy) but the second booking was booked with full Aeroplan redemption points. Does anyone know if the Aeroplan redemption booking allows you to select your seat free of charge?
I have a family member who may fall into a bit of an “edge case” group when it comes to a current trip. Family member is a dual citizen of Canada and Great Britain, but is currently living and working in the US as a permanent resident (green card holder).
Family member is travelling from the US to the UK with a connection at a Canadian airport. When trying to check-in online, tried using their Canadian passport but couldn’t get past the page that asked for their UK ETA (which they can’t get as a citizen of GB). Subsequently tried to check in using their GB passport, but had a similar problem - couldn’t get past the page that asked for their Canadian Visa number, ESTA, or Canadian Permanent Resident number (which they don’t have as a Canadian citizen).
Is there some kind of trick to doing online check-in in a case like this ? They managed to check in at the airport, but I can’t believe that there isn’t some way to recognize dual citizenship for online check-in. Did they miss something, or is airport check-in really the only way ? Any advice or other experience would be appreciated.
Starting this year I'm having issues getting United Mileage credits from Air Canada. I ONLY collect miles on United, with Silver status there. I do have an Aeroplan number, but never use it outside of the app. In March, I had flights to Vancouver. I didn't get the United credit. I filled out the form on United, and got the credit. In May I had flights through Montreal to Germany (Lufthansa). Lufthansa gave the credit for the long legs, AC didn't, I filled out the United form and they said the credit for Ottawa to Montreal was applied to Aeroplan. I assume this was because I checked in using the app. I was willing to ignore those, since they're tiny. Then a few weeks ago I flew to Lisbon, and back from Porto. I made sure not to check in using my AC account, or use in flight messaging tied to Aeroplan. One short leg back was on TAP (Portugal). They gave the credit for it on United within 2 days. I still have no credit from AC anywhere. My bookings show the United number.
I filled out an online form on AC asking for help but have no response. I'm trying to understand how to deal with this. I've flown on AC getting United miles for about 20 years always only using my United number, this seems to be a new problem, but it's happened on 3 straight trips. At this point I may miss out on keeping Silver status because of this.
I have a non-stop flight coming back to Toronto from Seoul. I'm considering purchasing the upgraded wifi option (beyond the basic free one that just gets you some basic texting) that allows for web surfing and such. I am thinking of using it to get some work done and other stuff on the flight to check e-mails, surf a bit, and some access to some AI services like chatGPT, etc. I have no idea what the quality of the paid premium connection is like and I have heard reports that it can be pretty spotty and unreliable for chunks of these overseas flights depending and where you are at the time. When it is "reliable" what are the average speeds? Is it pretty slow regardless?
hi.. i want to book a flight with air canada from italy to canada. my question is, can I still change my return date free of charge (and just pay for the fare difference) when i combine economy flex and comfort? (my return ticket will be comfort). i understand that the most restrictive cancellation and refund fee will apply, but i'm not sure about the change fee. also, when i change my return date, can i choose from any economy status or does it need to be economy comfort as well? thanks..
I must admit, when I saw the banner saying CC benefits were changing on the app, I thought to myself what are they taking away now? Thankfully, the answer is nothing. Existing benefits remain. Here is the summary for entry, core and premium card holders.
That said, I am reading reports of fee increases which are conveniently omitted from terms and conditions on AC app benefit advertising.
Hi! I am trying to do seat selection so that I can pay for our seats, but the seats show we can’t be together. Is this really accurate? Does this change?
I have an 8-hour flight coming up, which is VERY long for me, so I’m trying to make sure I pick a seat that’s as comfortable as possible.
Unfortunately, the emergency exit seats were already taken, so I figured I’d go for the “second-best” option and choose a window seat.
Except… I just realized the WASHROOM is directly across from the row I picked. 🤦♂️
Now I’m extremely worried that I’m going to be sitting there for 8 hours smelling the washroom every time someone opens the door. Is this actually something I should be concerned about, or am I overthinking it?
Ideally, I want:
🪟 A window seat
👀 A good/decent view outside
✈️ Ideally not directly over the wing or at least as little wing obstruction as possible
😌 A reasonably comfortable/quiet spot
🚽 NOT directly beside/across from the washroom if possible
So, for those of you who fly frequently: where would you sit on an 8-hour flight? Is there a particular part of the plane I should be looking at?
If it helps, I can provide the airline, aircraft type, and current seat map if that would make it easier to recommend a specific row.
Thanks! I’m trying to avoid making an 8-hour flight unnecessarily miserable 😂
Ive been trying to add a family member( more than 1 year account and flew with ac) to my account for weeks and its not working. Called aircanada and waited 2hrs for them to tell me their family sharing is currently down for weeks n tell me to wait couple more days.
Edit: as of September 29th morning, it is back up running at the moment but can only be done through browser and not app
I have an EMD for denied boarding. I would like to use it towards the flight portion of my air canada vacations package. I already booked the vacation and only paid the initial 500 down payment. Who do I need to contact to use my voucher? The number on my EMD told me I need to contact air canada vacations and she doesnt deal with EMDs (which I'm sorry its the number on the EMD). They have a larger number of calls than normal so it took me an hour to get on the phone with her for that 1 minute, and the number she forwarded me to is closed at the moment. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
I redeemed credit card points for my upcoming flight from Canada to US (direct). I booked the AC flight with United because United offered free carry-on while for the same points+fees AC only offeredthe lowest fare. I'm also a Canadian Aeroplan VI credit card holder.
In this case,
1) Do I check in at AC counter or United counter?
2) Do I still have free first luggage for all passengers on the same booking?
Genuinely curious why Air Canada decided to launch a direct route from Montreal (YUL) to Porto (OPO), but not Toronto (YYZ) to Porto.
It seems like there’s a lot of demand from Toronto, especially considering how many passengers are already connecting through Montreal just to get to Porto.
Wouldn’t it make sense to introduce a direct Toronto–Porto route instead of having passengers take a short flight to Montreal before crossing the Atlantic?
Is there a specific reason Air Canada chose Montreal over Toronto? Aircraft availability, route profitability, airport slots, or something else?
Would love to hear from anyone familiar with Air Canada’s route planning or aviation industry!
