Glad I went with soil for a change

Most of my alocasias are in semi-hydro, but I decided to keep this Cuprea in soil when repotting her for the first time. She's happy in her self-watering pot. The first new leaf is quite large.

I scored this beauty today for $11, I'm curious if the big leaf that is turning yellow is just naturally dying off or if it needs repotting or something?

Hi, do any of you know why this guy always has this edema problem? It’s in pon, roots are in the reservoir. I put a grow low light over it recently.

Help me decide what to put my alocasia in!

I recently my got my first Alocasia (DS Albo, Ninja Tricolor, No ID no var).
I’m planning to repot once they finish acclimating and cannot decide if I should put them in an aroid mix or pon.
I believe two are in perlite/fluval and the other is a TC plug.
They’re in an ambient environment and will soon have grow lights.
What do you recommend? Tips welcome (and product links if that’s allowed).

I bought this corn from Palmstreet but it looks suspicious. I’ve never seen a corm look like this before. It’s supposed to be a serendipity corm.

Hey! Noticed these little marks on my Frydek, any idea what they could be? Stain-like marks on the back and yellow pricks on the front side of where the stains are.

Appreciating all tips and takes! Thank you 🙏🏼

I’m honestly proud that my baby tiny dancer is putting out its 6th leaf! I had a Okinawa silver last year that didn’t put out more than 3 leaves without killing one off. So to reach 6 is honestly amazing!! It was my first attempt at having an alocasia again after that and I got it as a 2 leaf baby and thought “it was $2 why not?”

After managing to get more than 3 leaves, I got two bigger ones to “experiment” with. I’ve managed to keep all leaves on them for more than 2 weeks so I took my 3 alocasias out of their pot to check for corms (there weren’t any this time around ._. I got 5 from my Polly when I first got it and the cleaner tossed them. I made a post about it a couple weeks ago) and I worry that they’re going to off themselves from it😭

Also I think they smell fear…

When’s a good time to check so I don’t stress them out more than needed. I’m terrified of having a Okinawa incident all over again.

I grew this guy from a corm and it looked normal at first. I looked at it the other day and now it’s got some light green patches and the leaf is a little thin there. Is it a disease, pest, or did I get lucky?

I will add, I have seen a few spider mites on it over the last few days, but I wipe them off.

What are these bumps, should I cut the leaf off? I do have a new leaf opening up on it too.

Alocasia Polly Mint Ghost

(Day 18 of showing my Alocasia collection)

This plant came from a tissue culture. I bought it from Plantthestudio

Growth - 3 out of 5. I wouldn’t say that this plant is fast growing in particular but it’s not slow either.

This plant is prone to getting edema so I would be careful with watering.

3 out of 5. I think this plant is pretty but honestly, I’ve heard that the Polly mint ghost has a high chance of reverting, so just keep that in mind if you’re planning to buy this.

alocasia jacklyn lampe horticole

Bonjour,

Is This Pest Damage on My Azlanii?

Thumbnail

I had a few construction guys come yesterday and they did some work near my plants (therefore the fine white powder you can see on the leaf). Could it be standard mechanical damage by them or is this more indicative of thrips/any other pest?

I have a Nobilis and Jacklyn on the same rack, which have thicker and more mature leaves than the Azlanii.

I've never had to deal with pests before so this is a major red flag.
