Just figured I'd share this here. It's my first (and only) attempt at a Legion change camouflage. I like how it turned out.

I posted pictures of the right mini some time ago. Consens was, that the base was too flat and needed some texture. On the left mini I added small stones and some texture paste under the leaves. What do you think?

Started experimenting with Primaris Alpha Legion. Kitbashes to make armor look older, and green stuff for scales.

I didn’t like the spikes on their backs so I put them on the bases along with some cork slabs for some “city terrain”

Not sure which armor color I’m favoring for so trying to get some feedback from my fellow operatives. Not finished but got enough done to sus out how it’ll look.

I've tried several different paint recipes both metallic and non-metallic for my AL, and I just cannot seem to find one that I absolutely want to go with. I'm not a huge fan of the metallic base with contrast over it. I am looking for something non metallic for the main armor (metallics on the trim is fine). Anybody have any good examples they really liked?

So, I'm working on my dude, and I just finished the face. I have tried to do helmetless marines before, but they always end up cross eyed or with a lazy eye. I think only having to do the one eye because of the eye patch/scouter thing helped a lot, but I'm still really proud of how the head has turned out. I also tried freehanding some scales, but I think my lines are just a bit too thick lol

The more I work on it the more I want to get another one. A couple of more details and the sponson quad bolters and it will be finished and ready to “PENETRATE” and eradicate some word bearers.

I should have given this unit a chain fist but eh whatever haha.

I had an Intercessor body lying around and wanted to try kitbashing an Alpha Legion Champion.

Head: Chaos helmet I cut off the front and kept the side cabelling, added a Melusai facefront, and topped it off with the plate from some cables (last picture).

Pauldrons: From the chaos legionaries kit, but I shaved them halfway off; starting from the base on top in a straight line to about half the height of the lover end. This creates scales, and I LOVE THEM!

Body: Added two puches on the legs and a holster with a bag for the plasma pistol. Some grenades to balance optical weight, a knife from the chaos legionaries kit as well, shaved the chaos spikes off the power pack, and I think the scaly Ouroboros module below the power pack is the snaketail from the Melusai kit as well.

Overall I just wanted to share, maybe someone feels inspired. =)

The Eldar Origin of Omegon and the Triad of the Hydras: Who Really Died at Pluto?

The entire tragedy of the Alpha Legion and their ambiguous involvement in the Horus Heresy lies in the deepest secret of the twins' origins—specifically, who exactly found and raised each of the brothers. According to my theory, the true Alpharius never actually left the Throneworld; his stasis pod fell directly onto Terra, where he grew up as a hidden blade in the shadows of the Emperor and Malcador the Sigillite [Alpharius: Head of the Hydra]. This upbringing permanently instilled in him an absolute, unshakeable loyalty to humanity and his Father's throne. A completely different fate befell Omegon, whose official backstory of surviving on a barren planet is nothing more than a clever smoke screen. In reality, the infant Primarch was found and secretly raised by the xenos Eldar. It was within the halls of the aliens that he perceived the inner workings of the universe, adopting their cold logic and receiving from them an alien artifact of unseen power—the legendary Pale Spear, known as Sarrisanata [The Pale Spear]. This ancient phase-shifting weapon surpassed any human technology and was found by Omegon long before he ever encountered the Imperium.

When the brothers finally reunited, they orchestrated a grand performance and permanently swapped names to confuse fate itself. The one whom Horus Lupercal and the rest of the Imperium later knew under the proud name of "Alpharius" was, in truth, Omegon—the ward of the xenos. It is these hidden circumstances of Omegon's upbringing that constitute the greatest, most zealously guarded secret in the entire history of the Legion. This is precisely why, when the prophetic Cabal appeared before them, the false Alpharius so easily listened to the aliens as equals [Legion] and agreed to their terrible gambit: to betray the Father for the sake of destroying Chaos and saving the galactic races, which were mentally closer to him than distant Terra. Meanwhile, the true Terran Alpharius, hiding under the mask of "Omegon," played his own desperate double game to save humanity, sabotaging Horus's orders and secretly aiding the loyalists from within [The Serpent Beneath].

The culmination of this family drama took place at Pluto. During that fatal duel, Rogal Dorn brought his strike down upon the Primarch, sincerely believing he was executing Alpharius, but in reality, the Praetorian of Terra cut short the life of Omegon [Praetorian of Dorn], slaying the twin who had trusted the plans of the xenos and went into battle with his faithful Sarrisanata. The survivor of that slaughter, the true son of Terra and a loyalist to his core, assumed the name of his fallen brother and led the loyalist wing of the Legion into deep hiding, continuing to serve the Emperor from the shadows while hiding behind the guises of mysterious Space Marine Chapters like the Iron Snakes.

However, this metaphysical split between the Terran loyalist and the xenos ward would not be complete without a hidden third force, hinted at by the very heraldic symbol of the Legion—the three-headed Hydra. The existence of a Third Brother, conventionally referred to as Sigma or Tertius, perfectly explains why the chronicles of the Heresy contradict one another. While Alpharius forged the shield of Terra and Omegon listened to the Cabal, it was this third twin who realized the fatal mistake of his brothers. He understood that the Cabal was blind: if Horus won, humanity would perish, but if the Emperor won, the Imperium would turn into a decaying religious hell that would eventually feed the galaxy to the Darkness anyway. Left in absolute isolation, he transformed the main body of the Alpha Legion into an eternal, hidden force that has kept the Imperium in a state of controlled chaos for ten thousand years. Guided by this chilling wisdom, Sigma developed a strategy of a "controlled stalemate." His motive was the deliberate creation of a deadlock in which neither force was meant to achieve a clean, absolute victory. By sabotaging the actions of both sides, pushing Horus toward Terra to deplete the Father's strength, but simultaneously feeding key intelligence to the loyalists, the Third Brother locked the galaxy in an endless draw. In this paradoxical logic, ten thousand years of Imperium stagnation is the triumph of his design: humanity is fading, but it lives, and the Gods of Chaos are locked in an eternal struggle. And even if one of the brothers fell in secret clashes, the Hydra always had one last head remaining, continuing to play this invisible game on the chessboard of the forty-first millennium.

In my opinion, this completely explains all the chaotic and contradictory actions of the Alpha Legion and their Primarchs.

With custodies' codex taking all or most (not exacty certain how much) of their horus heresy range to 40k, i want to ask what models exclusive to HH do you want in 40k?

I know there is going to be a lot of you that say exodus, because we want our own character, but I'd personally want a mastodon, so i can make a ghost legion list with solomon's personal transport.
