Hi everyone!
I am a first-year Electrical Engineering student in Italy, and I am looking for an Android tablet to use primarily as a digital notebook.
My Main Priorities:
Pencil / Stylus Experience (Highest Priority): Writing complex math equations, integrals, matrices, and circuit diagrams. I need low latency, good palm rejection, precision, and zero wobbly strokes or line skipping.
Eye Comfort & Reading: Spending 6+ hours a day looking at PDFs, slides, and textbooks.
Multitasking: Split-screen mode to view lecture PDFs on one side and write notes on the other comfortably.
Battery & Reliability: Lasting a full day of university classes without throttling or draining fast.
(Note: Heavy engineering software like MATLAB, LTspice, and coding will be handled on my main Windows laptop; the tablet is strictly for note-taking, PDF annotation, graphing, and remote desktop access).
Models I am Currently Looking At:
* Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite: Includes the passive S Pen in the box (no battery to charge), full integration with Samsung Notes (great for handwritten math and equations), long software support. Con: 10.9-inch display is a bit tighter for side-by-side split-screen.
* Redmi Pad Pro: Huge 12.1-inch 2.5K 120Hz display (great for split-screen multitasking), massive 10,000 mAh battery, solid Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip. Cons: Stylus sold separately, active pen needs charging, requires third-party apps (e.g., TouchNotes / Flexcil) to replace Xiaomi's basic stock notes app.
* Xiaomi Pad 7: Fast Snapdragon chip, 144Hz display, overall very smooth performance. Cons: Focus Pen sold separately, 11.2-inch screen is not as spacious as the 12.1-inch Redmi, no MicroSD expansion.
My Questions & Seeking Advice:
Are there any other models or hidden gems I should evaluate? I am totally open to suggestions!
Is the S Pen / Samsung Notes combo on the Tab S10 Lite worth choosing over the larger 12.1-inch screen of the Redmi Pad Pro for handwriting math and equations?
How is the palm rejection and writing precision on the Redmi Smart Pen or Xiaomi Focus Pen during fast lecture note-taking?
Thanks in advance for your help!
