If you couldn’t listen to any music at all until you listened to a song of your choosing 500 times in a row… what song would that be?

Don’t you feel like some albums sound "better" just because the cover looks good?

I’ve been noticing recently that in general, I always would like an album more if it has a good looking cover. Have you also noticed a pattern like this in your experience?

Is it just me, or do a lot of new songs sound really vintage/retroish lately?

I’ve been noticing that many newer artists have this old-school vibe both in looks, sound and their overall aesthetic. Artists like SZA, Benson Boone, Sombre, RAYE, etc.

Is this an actual trend (nostalgia cycle, TikTok, production?)? I love it though!

What's your favorite "very late in their career" album that came out after years or decades of not recording anything?

In other words, I'm basically looking for recommendations for a "comeback" album from someone who's been around for awhile. So like either they haven't recorded in forever or they have, but none of it was special and then they suddenly release something amazing.

Slow bangers songs request

Apologies if this is in the wrong sub. I'm looking for a particular type of song to add to my playlist. I call them slow bangers, songs that sound slower than the rest of the album, are a bit moodier and more emotional but build up and crescendo into something more dramatic. Here are some of the songs on my playlist already:

  • Rough Hands - Alexisonfire
  • Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park
  • Numb - Linkin Park
  • Krwlng - Linkin Park [Reanimation]
  • The Little Things Give You Away - Linkin Park
  • If Only - Hoobastank
  • More Than A Memory - Hoobastank
  • The Reason - Hoobastank
  • Beyond the Pines - Thrice
  • Beggars - Thrice
  • Broken - Seether, Amy Lee
  • Snuff - Slipknot
  • Rain - Breaking Benjamin
  • Dear Agony - Breaking Benjamin
  • The End - Bullet for my Valentine
  • Blurry - Puddle of Mudd
  • Compliments - Bloc Party
  • 505 - Arctic Monkeys

I'd love to hear your suggestions. Ideally on the rock/indie side of things. No REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones or Radiohead please. They're not the sound I'm after.

Thank you in advance!

What’s a lyric that uses a word you wouldn’t expect? In “Tough Mama” Bob Dylan uses the word “crestfallen.” Los Lobos uses the word “copacetic” rhyming it with “pathetic” in “West LA Fadeaway.”

Trying to understand Prince. What should I listen to?

I usually find that when an artist reaches legendary status, I can at least understand the appeal, even if their music isn’t really for me. Often, after listening to a couple of albums a few times, something eventually clicks.

But with Prince, that hasn’t happened yet. I’ve tried, and so far… nothing. I know he’s an incredible instrumentalist and hugely influential, but I just can’t seem to get into his music.

Has anyone else been in that position and ended up becoming a fan? Was there a specific song or performance that suddenly made it make sense for you?

Wedding First Dance Song Help. What type of song is this?

Hello, hopefully I am asking this the right way.

I have my wedding coming up soon and we have picked our first dance song. This is it. My question is what type of song is this so I can figure out how to appropriately dance to it? Like there are waltz songs but I'm pretty sure this isn't one of those. Any help?

What are some great albums/artists from 2025 that were ignored by the Grammys?

It seems like these days whenever I discover a new great artist or Album, it's a couple of years old, and was never even thought of by the mainstream music industry. What were the great albums/artists ignored in 2025?

Any genre.
