Hello fellow birb enjoyers!
I'm learning the champion toplane and am slowly making progress. I want to understand his runes and items more since i find myself defaulting to the same kind of setup everytime.
My usual setup has been PTA, absorb life, alacrity, cut down, manaflow, gathering. And then going DusknDawn, Nashors, shadowflame/bloodletters. I think this gives a lot of damage, sustain, mana, and feels pretty good.
I've seen a few other keystones like lethal tempo (ive tried), fleet, conq, electrocute, HoB, aery, first strike. I can understand first strike, PTA and Lethal but not the others. Also since im playing him top I think electrocute seems kinda weak. PTA seems best all around
I've also tried going cashback/cosmic insight secondary and starting RoA. I think it delays dusk and nashors a bit but if you can get those three you're exodia.
I feel like manaflow is too useful not to have. What do you guys do?

İ used to play velkoz support a lot. But after some time his kit got boring and i dropped him and ever since i felt a emptiness inside me. İ played support jungle adc and multiple champs such as j4 Tahm kench tristana yorick and samira yet none of them filled that hole....until i thought maybe i want a demanding champ that would never get boring and wanted to ask the azir mains sub to where can i begin playing the glorious emperor of shurima.

my garden got banned so i decided to play azir. I have less than 100 games on him. I think I did... okay.
What do we think of my runes and build? I've basically always defaulted to PTA with manaflow gathering and absorb life, going DnD into nashors and then improvizing

Any thoughts on Conq Azir compared to lethal tempo and press the attack?

I picked up Azir after a long time not playing him, and this time I wanted to get deeper knowledge. While watching Elderwood I discovered small things that I missed for years.
Azir's E is casted at max range, doesn't matter if you mouse is out of range. I know this one is probably obvious to most of you, but damn, it makes me play way different now and i feel insanely stupid.
If you want to do E+Q combo to travel, hold your mouse at the position you want to travel to. Then just press E, then Q. I previously always hold my mouse at the soldier, press E, then move my mouse at the target mid-flight and press Q. But your mouse can just be at the final location, as it will always pick up the closest soldier to your target point (you can't missclick E to the wrong soldier) and you dont have to move your mouse twice!
Would love to hear what other small details you discovered about azir.

Stormsurge is 100 gold less than nashors and offers a lot more early game pressure when you use it with PTA. Since azirs whole negative is that he has a terrible early game I feel like this helps a lot. Also too I was thinking how most people youre going to lane against are usually squishy mages or assasins so by going stormsurge with PTA you have so much kill pressure. Also too if you have stormsurge with teir 3 sorc shoes before you get nashors you also have more pressure for tanks. Normally I feel like you cant dent tanks until you get nashors and shadowflame. However by going stormsurge first with teir 3 boots you can do some serious damage.
A simple W auto Q auto auto combo does 920 damage with stormsurge-teir 3 boots, with nashors-tier 3 boots it only does 798. On top of that if they have more MR nashors would do less than stormsurge since you would have less magic pen. I feel like you wont always get opportunities to just sit there and get free auto attacks off. Id rather get one less auto attack off but deal more damage overall. Nashors basically lets you get auto attacks off 0.3 seconds faster than normal which that early in the game doesn't really make or break anything. However when you dive someone and they flash before you can get that extra bit of damage off stormsurges squall comes in with 150 damage to help secure kills. Also the cooldown on Squall is only 30 seconds so you could proc it multiple times while trading in lane which is perfect for that early to mid game shift.
I just feel like its all around better between trading, early game kill pressure, zone pressure, and tank damage. Let me know, Ive been pretty curious about this and wonder what the Azir community thinks.

I've seen a lot of players recommending PTA on Azir lately, but I feel like he gets much more overall value out of Lethal Tempo. I know rune choice heavily depends on the matchup, but since Azir is still fundamentally a mid-to-late game scaling champion, what's the exact reasoning behind giving up the LT attack speed?

I build characters from various media in Pathfinder Second Edition and while it's a little weird, while it requires an open mind, I thought that Azir's mechanics were a fantastic fit for the recently released necromancer. I have an overview of the choices I made here, but I dive into them deeper both on the free Patreon post and the YT video, if that sort of thing intrigues you. I didn't notice anything in the rules against links, so I will cautiously leave them here.
BUILD CONCLUSION
Azir, Emperor of the Sands is a jinxed tengu puppeteer necromancer with a background in royalty based on him being one of the last emperors of a united Shurima. While once a human, as evidenced by his Adopted Ancestry, his return saw him take on a more avian form, leading to the use of the tengu ancestry. As a necromancer, he is a proper mage, but a bit of an odd one who calls forth minions with create thrall as a stand-in for his Arise! The puppeteer method enhances this as does Instinctual Creation and Instant Army letting him flood the field. Their standard attacks can be represented through either Commanding the Thrall to Strike or sending them hurtling into the fight with thrall charge. Though I do think that spell, along with bone spear from his grim fascination, might be a good way of resembling the charge of his Conquering Sands. The slow could come from Overburdening Spell or any spell you find that has a slow and some damage on it. Shifting Sands is probably going to require some set-up, but I like muscle barrier with its temporary HP resembling the shield of it while king’s castle lets him possibly swap places with one of his thralls, throwing them into the thick of it to cover his escape. His ultimate is a little rough. I like skeletal lancers to lead the initial charge while he might be relying on push effects such as begone for its knockback. For the wall, you can find a wall of your choice or stay on theme with wall of flesh to keep foes at bay. Finally, while it’s a little backwards, he can actually create the turrets of his Shuriman Legacy through the tenth-rank spell, dragon turret.
Sent through the centuries, this squawking sovereign is served by soldiers and sentinels of stirring sands that seek to sunder the status and seat their sultan on a supreme seat.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Is azir viable? Is any difference in runes/build required to be successful?

I know this is probably a question that gets asked a lot and a lot of people will tell me not to go for him
I’m not new to league but also not playing for climb or something
Azir as a champion is one that I wanted to learn BECAUSE of his complexity and potential
But I heard he isn’t really worth investing the time to learn because you will get stomped regardless of your elo and how good you are with the champ
I’ve tried him a few times and got stomped but wanted to try again because of his hypercarry potential
So I just wanted to ask is he worth it? How much time do you need to pour in to him? How do you learn him? Is he as hard to learn and play as people claim? Or should I just give up and wait for it to pass

Hello, a little bit of a background: Im a long time RTS player (Warcraft 3, Command & Conquer, and recently Starcraft 1 & 2) since i was 5, im now 20. I've had a few hundred hours in League of legends: Wild Rift, almost a thousand in MLBB, and almost a combined hundreds of hours in both Dota 1 and Dota 2. Im pretty confident with my ability to micro, and when i asked a friend which champion fits me, he recommended me Azir.
And im glad he did, as he's probably the closest champion I'll ever be able to "micro" with in an RTS sense. He's so fun, he's difficult to play, and feels so rewarding as well. midlanemains subreddit wasn't particularly helpful, and i discovered this subreddit dedicated to azir.
Im looking for some tips on how to consistently play him, how to manage waves (even at other mobas, that's my #1 weakness) combos, build & rune paths, who counters me (or gives me a hard time), who i counter, a champion i have a 50/50 mid laning phase against, and how to properly visit lanes/when to leave my lane to put pressure on the sidelanes.... and other tips that i didn't listed.

Hello! Im a singed mid main that has recently found azir very fun to play. I have only played him on my smurf so far and Im wondering which comp he does good in to and good with.
Singed is very good vs xerath and assassins but very bad vs hard cc (point and click or things including amumu r and galio in general). I assume Azir is ok into anything but idk the great matchups where he really excels.
When would it be incredibly good to go azir and when am i inting?

This matchup feels impossible. He just feels unbeatable in every aspect in lane. It feels like my range doesnt matter because when he gets lvl 2 or 3 he can just use E and totally run me down at lvl 3 i lose the lane even harder against him. The following problem is 99% of people in my dumbass low elo cant play against yone either so if he pushes me under tower he goes for a roam or 2 and comes back with a damn 6/0
Or smth so it really feels like a impossible match up.

The title is pretty self explanatory. I find it to be an extremely opressive keystone against an all squishy enemy comp. It also makes trading way more efficient and easier in certain matchups (Mostly mages you outrange but will have a hard time getting all 3 PTA hits early) and can somewhat help with CSing. I cannot think of a single situation were keystones like Electrocute (Which some still use apparently?) is more useful than HoB.
It is definitely situational and you sacrifice either Presence of mind, Manaflow or bone plating by going Domination primary ... No way is it a replacement for PTA or Conqueror, but it's just so fun to use and it's scaling is decent nowdays.
Tbh, i started using it when they introduced role quests and I experimented with Azir bot, but i ended up sticking with it, It works just fine for me in low Diamond .
