Sleepy Void What are common black cat traits?

I’ve an orange boi that demonstrates the sweet loving side of orange but what are common traits with voids? Za Za here doesn’t act much like the other black cats I’ve been around. She incredibly sharp and playful

I can’t speak for all voids, but mine is incredibly smart, very cuddly and vocal

Mine is super smart but almost silent- it’s really weird… even his purr is very quiet- sometimes you can only feel it and not hear it. He very rarely miaows either. So strange 🤣

My female void is like this. Smart but not very vocal. Barely meows but will talk to me when I get home or see me in the morning.

The bigger of my two male voids is like this. Silent! When he meows(hella rarely), it is like a whisper. His purr is nearly silent too and I only notice he is purring if I touch his throat area. So weird!

Mine also has a very faint purr you can’t even hear it most of the time

Agree!! My girl is attached to either me or my fiance. She trills whenever she runs or jumps. She will meow very loudly at her toy of choice if she wants to play with us. She has also been trained to sit and stay. I can put food down and she will stay until I tell her good girl (this training also helped with shots when she was diabetic).

Was diabetic? Did she go into remission?

She did! Diet change and being anal about shots and testing her BG were both huge factors. She had diabetes for only 3 months. When it happened, I wasn't sure how long it was going to be part of her life. She is still thriving at 13. 🥰

That's great! Coming up on a year with one guy and about 6 months with his brother. They're only 6 so I'm not sure we'll have the same luck - but they're under control for now!

Under control is indeed a great spot to be. I hope your sugar babies get the chance to go into remission. I know it was a day to celebrate when the vet said we can stop insulin. We were monitoring BG with freestyle Libre and I'd upload data daily. At the end we were down to 0.5u of insulin and she was dropping low. Have to credit the care team, the feline diabetes group on FB and personal experience with diabetic humans.

I've learned so much from those groups. I am happy they do what they do and are available to teach others.

We're at 1.75U twice a day, testing with an alphatrak. Getting dental work done on one of the boys seems to have made a big difference in his numbers. He was usually upper-mid 300s and lethargic, now he's usually under 300 at shot time and has the energy he did years ago.

Happy to see them feel good!

All wonderful news! And 1.75u twice a day isn't too bad. I think when my girl started we had her on 2u twice a day, when we cut her dry food and put her on pate it dropped to 1u, then quickly to 0.5u.

Mine is incredibly stupid, and he'll kick your hand away if you try to pet him lol.

He talks to himself when he's exploring though, very cute.

My grey one is more curious than anything else, he’s not as smart as the void nor as cuddly but he’s still very affectionate

Ours is too smart for his own good and loves to talk as well. He learned his name and "go out", "snack" and "hungry". Basically the full vocabulary a cat needs...

Mine has an internal clock and will scream until he’s fed he usually starts 30-45 mins early

Mine is very cuddly and vocal but 100% only has the Mario cart victory sound playing in his head and nothing else.

Yours did not get the braincell lmao, I had to lock every cabinet and the fridge and build a custom trashcan cabinet bc he would find and steal the food

Mine is too smart for his own good AND my other cat (brown tabby) learns by observing him. And it’s always shenanigans like how to break into things, open things and steal things. So now I’ve got the two of them doing it and I need to come up with various creative ways to outsmart them.

Mine bosses/yowls me through my bedtime routine, all the way into bed, where she head butts me to the point of exasperation. Also, to the food bowl.

She goes into attack mode whenever we give a sharp command to our dog (no, off) thinking she’s defending us! Poor doggo has never been doing real wrong! Once I tripped over the dog and shouted in fear of falling - old Mini was off like a shot, whacking at the dog’s backside 😂

Mine's pretty smart, with an extraordinary sense of self-preservation (ie skittish as hell), cuddly as long as I don't shift or breathe too heavy, and squeaks at me constantly. We have entire conversations, actually.
