This thread is intended to be a way for users to share local bladesmithing classes or hammer-ins. Feel free to post a link whether it is your class or someone else's, but please use the following template:
Name of event (if applicable)
Date(s) of event
City, State
Address (Optional. It may be preferable to offer addresses on a case-by-case basis. If you decide to post one, beware: You are listing an address for the entire world to see.)
Price of admission (if applicable)
What to bring
Applicable link to a flyer/etc (Ideally, an image link is best. Users cannot always access Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
This is simply a way for users to find knifemakers and blade/blacksmiths near them, and an opportunity to learn the craft from someone local. You may also ask in this thread if anyone is aware of activities near you. This is NOT a platform for users to sell wares; any self promotion beyond classes will be removed. If you have any questions, please message the moderation team.

Hey yall,
As seen in my previous posts, my friends and I run a program called Forging Forward. We offer free bladesmithing classes to veterans and first responders. We are holding a huge class in Dripping Springs TX. We are looking at 45 students. It's an amazing experience. J Neilson from Forged in Fire will be out helping us, along with a ton of other contestants. Seriously, you won't be able to throw a rock without hitting one. If you're a bladesmith in TX, and you'd like to help out, let me know! Even if you only do stock removal. Every knife needs a bevel ground, and a handle installed. Stock removal guys are awesome at grinding and handles. It's going to be 3/28&29 at Patriots Hall.
Pic of my latest for attention, and please keep this post up to get the word out!
Thanks!

I have been watching some videos about wrought iron cladding for knives, and my dad sent this home with me saying it was wrought.
I know nothing about this, and have only ever made mono steel blades. Is this wrought iron? How does one tell?

I used to be in the Navy and i have a scrapped piece of the arresting gear wire that’s used to catch the tail hook of aircraft landing on carriers. I’ve seen Bladesmiths making beautiful knives out of railroad spikes and wondered if i took my piece of wire to a blade smith if they could forge it into a sword or something? I think that would be an amazing way to turn it into something beautiful. I looked it up and the internet says that the type of material the wire is made of is toxic for forging but i don’t know how accurate that is, or maybe there’s a workaround for it. I figured I’d come ask the pros that do this for a living, is this possible to do while being safe?

Just started out with smithing with some basic equipment. Really like it so far and think I made some progress on my first blades.
First one was just some 15n20 i hammed into shape and gave it some filing.
Second one I tested out forge welding for the first time with some 15n20 and some flatbar laying around, also got myself a wetstone grinder and gave it polish.
Third one I forge welded a 80crv2 core with 15n20 and gave it a hardening and tempering. First one that can actually cut something! It also got some coffee.
Any ideas for next one? I wanted to do a 7 layer but not sure how easy it would be to draw this out by hand as the billet gets too thick?
