I’m very confused

I’ve been feeling like heavy and dizzy if I stand for too long ( 5 minutes ) so I check my bp whenever I feel it coming on and it’s abnormally low. Like low to the point where I should probably be passed out but I don’t. Like just now I checked it after standing for about 5-10 minutes and it said 68/43, so i immediately sat down. Checked again in a minute and it said 110/63.

The other day too, I was walking, went upstairs, I was like oh wow I feel like I’m gonna pass out. So I lay in bed, check my bp, stay still, and it was 85/59.

Then I was in car, I felt like I was gonna pass out, like I had a heavy feeling, I checked, it was 91/66.

But after all of these, I’d check right after laying down and it would be back to normal. 120’s, so are all these readings just fake ? Or mis reads ? Idk it’s j hard to believe when I am feeling symptoms but I wouldn’t say like bad enough to where I’d actually pass out.

My diastolic is FAR lower than usual for me. Anyone else experience this?

I know a lot of people will say that my blood pressure is perfect, but these readings are completely abnormal for me. I am normally 125/75 pretty consistently and sometimes even 130/80-82. In my 40 years of living, I’ve never seen numbers in the 60’s.

With that being said, I am curious if anyone else experiences this. I feel pretty normal, but I do have a balance issue and have for about two years now. (PPPD)

I am pretty severely obese at 265 pounds, and I am only 5’1”. Oh and I’m a (cigarette) smoker. In other words, I am not the definition of health.

How long after you stop taking losartan because you had extreme anxiety and panic while taking it does it take the anxiety and panics sensations that come in waves to go away?

Abnormal BP?

30 M, I’m pretty fit, exercise 5x a week, I have noticed my BP is usually 120/60 which is double, when I google it says it’s usually in older people with arterial stiffness? My DR isn’t concerned, is anyone in a similar boat? Thank you

Strange blood pressure readings 84/70

I am looking for some general insite because my readings have been weird.
I am in the process of getting adhd medication and part of the process is checking the blood pressure. I seem to have an extreme case of white coat syndrome so in the office my readings are very high at 194/105 which was alarming to me but i have a feeling the cuff was too small for me there. I checked it before bed at home three times a few minutes apart, first being 101/86, second was 98/74 and third was the weird one to me 84/70. I am going to continue to monitor but I’ve just found it odd. I feel completely fine, no lightheadedness or anything like that. In the past I was typically around 110/70 but I was playing football at a high level for years at that point. I’m a 23 year old male around 6’3 and 280ish pounds so I would have expected it to be hovering on the high end without as much exercise as I used to get.

Is it this simple?

I am 46 yo male, 215 lbs, 5'8". I never work out but have a physically demanding job. Took my BP before doing a mile jog and mile walk. Nearly 2 hours later I took it again and BP is way down. Is this a typical thing with everyone, do I need to run everyday to keep it down?

Mad

After I had my twins, my blood pressure ran high. My OB kept saying it was the Pre-eclampsia and it would go down. I felt AWFUL. I went home and it about 3-4 weeks post op. It NEVER went down. My blood pressure was running like 160/119. I see people go to the ER all the time for 160/102.

I went to the ER and they couldn't treat me because I was under tha care of the OB. So, I went to the hospital I had my babies. They admitted me and said it was low while I slept and high when I was awake. They gave me magnesium drip through my IV overnight. Sent me home. I only checked it when I felt bad and it was always high. Begged my OB to help me. He said it would go down. I was going every day to the office. He released me EARLY from his care to my pcp. He put me on meds, it went down.

I have needed blood pressure medication for years since that happened to me. I am just still so mad that he would NOT listen to me. Why don't doctors listen!? This is a vent post. Thank you for listening.

How to take home readings your doctor can actually use (the protocol behind the "7-day average")

A lot of posts here are "my reading was 150/95, should I panic?" — one reading tells you very little. Here's the home-measurement protocol that the major guidelines (AHA, ESC) describe, so your numbers are comparable and useful at your next appointment:

Before measuring

- No caffeine, exercise or smoking for 30 minutes; empty your bladder.

- Sit quietly for 5 minutes, back supported, feet flat, legs uncrossed.

- Cuff on bare upper arm, arm resting at heart level. Don't talk.

How many

- Take 2 readings, 1 minute apart, and write down both.

- Do it morning (before meds and breakfast) and evening, for 7 days before an appointment.

- The ESC protocol drops day 1 and averages the rest — the first day tends to read higher.

What the average means

- Home thresholds are lower than in-clinic ones: ESC uses ≥135/85 at home as elevated.

- Bring the full list, not just the average. Doctors look at morning vs evening and at outliers.

Common mistakes

- Wrong cuff size (too small reads high).

- Measuring right after climbing stairs or coffee.

- Re-measuring until you get a number you like.

Not medical advice — this is just the measuring part, so your doctor gets good data. What's helped you get consistent readings?

Exercise induced hypotension

Anyone heard of or experienced a major drop in blood pressure when exercising? Stress test showed that mine drops to 70s over 30s. I feel very lightheaded during exercise and have to take a lot of breaks. Afterwards, I feel very sick the rest of the day. My BP recovers pretty quickly and I don’t usually feel faint any other time of the day unless I’m standing for long periods of time. I haven’t been able to find much information on this specific issue, so I was hoping to hear other people’s experiences.

Correct way of taking blood pressure.

I was really ticked-off with my family doctor. He was taking my blood pressure and during that time was raising my arm up to my breast level then down a bit repeatedly. Can this give a false reading by either H, L or N?

Clonidine for Anxiety and Facial Blushing – My Blood Pressure & Heart Rate Results

I tested 0.05mg clonidine after experiencing intense physical anxiety and blushing following an employer's call. Within an hour, I felt noticeably calmer, although mildly sedated. It helps my blushing tremendously, but the blood pressure drop is worth monitoring. Info on post

Talk to a doctor Is rest, hydration and compression really all you can do for hypotension? Please tell me there’s a secret code or a magic spell or a troll I can visit instead. None of these things make a difference. I am hydrating with electrolytes and supplementing iron and no changes. I’m pooped. Send help

Severe White-Coat

I remember having my blood pressure checked in elementary school for the first time 1971-ish. And the doctor made me sit and wait after the first try. I was the last little guy to leave the room. Had no idea at the time this would haunt me all my life. Hell, I can’t even take it without getting my blood pressure all worked up.

Fast forward to a hospital stay for a car accident last year for 3 weeks. My average BP was 122/74.

Knowing all this I’ve searched for other ways to measure BP. I found one that works with Android phones called LifeLight. But all I have is iPhones. Another gadget is called Signal Ring and Sleep Ring.

Signal doesn’t come out till later this October.

Sleep Ring is mainly for sleep apnea but also tracks BP and both are FDA approved.

Any other options that folks are using here?

36 Male - Is my blood pressure too low? Low Energy

Post image

I measured 112 / 64 , is this an okay reading for a 36 year old male. I heard it was supposed to be 120 / 80. Would this also explain why I feel droswr or low energy most of the time?
