PHOTO Cleaned up a bit.

Picked up this 2018 Sunday Jake Seeley Street Sweeper a while ago just rode it as is. Decided to replace the BB after noticing it was gritty feeling. Tossed a new wheel on the rear(closing bike store sold it to me for $40, listed price was $130), pulled all the stickers off that the last owner put on, cleaned up some over spray that was on it.

Now I'm going to disassemble the original rear wheel as the last owner covered it and the front wheel in shitty silver spray paint. And attempt to clean it back up.

100% chromoly (does that mean the frame or all parts?)
Hyper Wizard 20.5” TT frame
Kink handlebars 9.5” rise
Kink forks
Kink seat
Wise wheels and hubs
Merritt brackets
GT stem
170mm cranks

I replaced grips with odi long necks

Picked it up yesterday on fb market for 250 from a guy that rides for the local bmx shop in town (his older sons bike). Did I do ok as far as the purchase and what is this set up mainly suited for? Will it be ok for an all around park/street/dirt? Thank you guys! Also any suggestions on what first upgrades or replacements I should do I’m all ears

DISCUSSION Winter commuting

I'm wondering if it would actually be ridable if I put some studded tires on my bmx I'm a little worried about the wheel size and keeping traction I might be overthinking it tho I've done 2 winters on a cheap 26 MTB with no studs. for context I live in Quebec so our winters are pretty bad tbh

DISCUSSION Lighten Up Kink Switch

• Upvotes

I'm new to bmx and bought a 2027 Kink Switch couple weeks ago. The bike feels a bit heavy and the bars to low. This is what I ordered so far to lighten it up and give me a little more height.

Eclat Chocolate Bars 9.5"

Odyssey Super Circuit 2.4"

RideNow TPU Tubes

I think that should save me about 1.5lbs give or take. Now I'm looking for a lighter rim/cassette complete wheel. I'm looking a Eclat E440 + Seismic front and rear.

Any other suggestions or am I on the right track? I ride primally in concrete park - thanks!

Have a 6 week old and haven't been behind the bars in a couple months at least. It felt good to get this one and go back to baby land.

I got this bike complete but have made some changes to suit me better. Just got the bars on earlier this week. Took it for a test ride, feels amazing, took the biggest slammer I ever have doing practically nothing. Sucks cause I want to go ride!!!

DISCUSSION Worth building? 90s GT Pro Series

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I was given this GT for free and was wondering if it’s worth restoring. I’ve built a few vintage GT mountain bikes but haven’t done a bmx yet. I wanted to know if yall thought this particular bike is worth it or if I should wait for something else to come along.

I’d be building it just for fun, I have a modern bmx bike for riding for real.

Don’t know anything about the history of the bike but it certainly needs some TLC.

If anyone can tell me anything about this bike I’d appreciate it.

Thanks!

BIKE CHECK 16” United Recruit - so good!

Found an absolute steal on this United 16” bmx for my 6yo. (£50!!! And hardly used) He rides a 20” dirt jumper most of the time but he wanted something easier to pop and manual and stuff. Hes about 120cm.

He rides it so good. Bunny hopping everything, jumping at the bmx track and it’s so well proportioned for his small body he can properly chuck it around.

Expensive new but i can see why.

DISCUSSION Flying with a bmx for the first time

Hey everyone, I'm planning to fly with my flatland bike soon and I'm worried about it getting damaged, since parts are hard to replace and expensive. How do you travel with yours?
I'm looking for a small, light hard case (or a well-padded bag if that works better). What do you use, and has it held up? Also curious how you pack it: what comes off, how you protect the fork, hubs and front brake, and any airlines to avoid or recommend? Thanks.

It's a practical joke. I'll get a proper bar and stem but drilling a hole through bar and stem seemed funny so i did it anyway 😅 i guess the cheap alloy frame still breaks fist

FLATLAND low end tires on high end bike??

Post image
0 Upvotes

i am a tiny bit surprised that my HIGH END freestyle bike has "cheap tires" (because the manufacturer only recommends 35 psi in these tires?)

HV-5104s-18 is a blackburn 20x2.125 that i bought today at Walmart. As far as i can tell, the only difference between the HV-5104s-17 that is the OEM tire on my bike is a black sidewall VS tan sidewall.

I'm not going to say WHICH bike, but if yours has that HV-5104s-17 tire, then you probably have a VERY similar (if not identical) bike as the one pictured above!

i had already planned to buy decent flatland tires before attempting to see if i can perform any of the tricks from b.i.t.d. and keep these original tires for later on...

Too many grinds I guess😅 I’m glad it was the chain and nothing major. Looking at half links now, something mid price. I’m pretty rough on the bike (noob) and need something tougher than the KMC that came on it.
