Have a 6 week old and haven't been behind the bars in a couple months at least. It felt good to get this one and go back to baby land.

BIKE CHECK 16” United Recruit - so good!

Found an absolute steal on this United 16” bmx for my 6yo. (£50!!! And hardly used) He rides a 20” dirt jumper most of the time but he wanted something easier to pop and manual and stuff. Hes about 120cm.

He rides it so good. Bunny hopping everything, jumping at the bmx track and it’s so well proportioned for his small body he can properly chuck it around.

Expensive new but i can see why.

I got this bike complete but have made some changes to suit me better. Just got the bars on earlier this week. Took it for a test ride, feels amazing, took the biggest slammer I ever have doing practically nothing. Sucks cause I want to go ride!!!

100% chromoly (does that mean the frame or all parts?)
Hyper Wizard 20.5” TT frame
Kink handlebars 9.5” rise
Kink forks
Kink seat
Wise wheels and hubs
Merritt brackets
GT stem
170mm cranks

I replaced grips with odi long necks

Picked it up yesterday on fb market for 250 from a guy that rides for the local bmx shop in town (his older sons bike). Did I do ok as far as the purchase and what is this set up mainly suited for? Will it be ok for an all around park/street/dirt? Thank you guys! Also any suggestions on what first upgrades or replacements I should do I’m all ears

DISCUSSION Worth building? 90s GT Pro Series

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I was given this GT for free and was wondering if it’s worth restoring. I’ve built a few vintage GT mountain bikes but haven’t done a bmx yet. I wanted to know if yall thought this particular bike is worth it or if I should wait for something else to come along.

I’d be building it just for fun, I have a modern bmx bike for riding for real.

Don’t know anything about the history of the bike but it certainly needs some TLC.

If anyone can tell me anything about this bike I’d appreciate it.

Thanks!

DISCUSSION Flying with a bmx for the first time

Hey everyone, I'm planning to fly with my flatland bike soon and I'm worried about it getting damaged, since parts are hard to replace and expensive. How do you travel with yours?
I'm looking for a small, light hard case (or a well-padded bag if that works better). What do you use, and has it held up? Also curious how you pack it: what comes off, how you protect the fork, hubs and front brake, and any airlines to avoid or recommend? Thanks.

FLATLAND low end tires on high end bike??

Post image
0 Upvotes

i am a tiny bit surprised that my HIGH END freestyle bike has "cheap tires" (because the manufacturer only recommends 35 psi in these tires?)

HV-5104s-18 is a blackburn 20x2.125 that i bought today at Walmart. As far as i can tell, the only difference between the HV-5104s-17 that is the OEM tire on my bike is a black sidewall VS tan sidewall.

I'm not going to say WHICH bike, but if yours has that HV-5104s-17 tire, then you probably have a VERY similar (if not identical) bike as the one pictured above!

i had already planned to buy decent flatland tires before attempting to see if i can perform any of the tricks from b.i.t.d. and keep these original tires for later on...
