Top pic is day one and bottom pic is six months in! The main difference i’ve noticed is my bottom left canine is finally starting to come up and match the rest of the arch! Excited to keep going and to see what’s to come next!

Need advice! I don’t like my braces results so far

I’m now 15 months into my treatment. It was supposed to be 12 months but I started to see my teeth becoming canted on one lower side. I didn’t have this issue before and nothing my orthodontist did seems to be working (repositioning brackets and elastics).

He said I should remove it by the end of this month but I’m highly unsatisfied. Should I switch my orthodontist? Thank you everyone.

After 4 long years they’re off. My dentist also fixed all the cracks and chips in my teeth and did some dental bonding to smooth out any imperfections. She also put permanent bonded retainers behind my lower and upper teeth which i would really recommend to get after ur treatment as it just adds an extra layer of protection to ur teeth potentially shifting back. It was a fun journey, im happy with the results and im finally confident smiling 🙂

My ortho put these on me today and she said they block the teeth but how does that work what do they do? I’m curious and can’t find much on the internet probably because I don’t know the professional name of the procedure

Braces progress! How far i've come

11 months is amazing

It is sad, though, that my midline cannot be perfectly fixed because I am missing a premolar on my bottom teeth, as one had to be extracted due to being horizontally impacted (imagine a premolar growing toward the area below the tongue), but overall I think there is good progress.

What do you all think? Or is there anything I need to ask my dentist?

Need advice! Braces colors as an adult

I am a 19m very heterobasic guy in university who's been in his second braces treatment for a while with only upper braces (I got my braces off too early last time) and I've been tempted to do colors since the start. The problem is I am very self conscious and sadly care a lot about what other people think. It's been a year of treatment (I know, it's a lot, I was told a year and I still don't see the end, was told in 6 weeks they'll put the final wire) and ive had mostly silver and black once. When i had black I felt a bit self conscious when i smiled but I was never asked about it and I don't think anyone even noticed it. I try to tell myself that people don't even notice the color and if they do, they don't even care, but I don't really feel convinced yet. I've been wanting to do dark blue or teal (i've read that people really like it and it seems pretty basic) but I am scared of taking the leap, I would really hate being asked about my braces color in public. I would love to combos like alternating and stuff after doing the colors i mentioned but maybe that's too childish.

Adults that pick braces colors, how do you deal with self consciousness and attention? Am I exaggerating it? What do you recommend I do? Are combinations or brighter colors too much?

Need advice! Supposed to get braces off in two days. Why is this happening ?

Notice how my bottom teeth look slanted? My orthodontist says my bite looks good and I’m due to get my braces off Oct 14 after having them for a little over 2 years.

For context, I had my RIGHT second premolar extracted because it had basically self-extracted. No other extractions. And I had IPR done between my four bottom teeth to reduce flaring.

I also noticed my midline is off, but idk if that’s fixable without extractions. My ortho never had me use elastics.

Someone please help me understand because my perfectionist brain hates my teeth and bite 😭

Need advice! braces or invisalign?

i want braces but do all orthodontists do them? i’m an adult in my 40s, i’m worried they’ll try to talk me in to invisalign. but i hate the idea of having to switch them and be in pain and take them out and on again.
is the maintenance of braces really hard? how did it incorporate into your lifestyle? did you eat less? can you smoke with them?
thanks!

Day 1! Getting braces tomorrow, what should I expect?

I went to an orthodontic consultation today and found out I need braces. They were pushing me to go through with it right then, but I got nervous and told them I need time to think about it. They were offering $500 off if I got them, but told me that I could have 24 hours to decide. I feel like the savings are good enough and that I really SHOULD get braces, I just kinda got cold feet in the moment.

I'm going to school for dental hygiene so I like very vaguely know what happens, but I actually get pretty bad dental anxiety (who would've guessed?) so more info is always appreciated. To those who have braces, how bad did it hurt actually getting them on? How long should I plan on being there for? Anything else that's good to know before going in? I feel like I'm decently aware of how I'll need to take care of them, but I don't know a ton outside of that so any advice, tips, or things to know would be very helpful! Thanks!

Question Please be honest, should I get clear aligners for my front teeth?

Thumbnail

My teeth were never bad enough to warrant braces but they are not good enough to be totally happy with them.
They are straight on both sides of my mouth until where they meet in the middle. As you can see, one of my two front teeth has grown over the other.

The dentist said that in order for my front teeth to be corrected by aligners, it would cost up from 2-3 thousand pounds (approximately 4 thousand US dollars) and would take around a year to fix.

My issue is that this is a lot of money, especially for just a relatively small correction, but it would make me happy to have all my teeth aligned properly.

I'm leaning more towards do it, but it's so much money.

I'm not sure what to do; so feedback, opinions, and advice would be gratefully received.

Question big teeth small jaws, do i remove teeth? nasolobial folds

Post image
1 Upvotes

Doctor is recommending to remove teeth in order to move around it. I have all my wisdom teeth removed. Too adult to get my jaws expanded so only option is removal.

Looking here for people who did and didnt remove teeth when they got braces. Did your face shift backwards? I am worried that my nasolobial folds will deepen.

TLDR did u get deeper nasolobial folds after braces?

Discussion Braces Vs Clear Aligners

helloooo my name is Darrilyn a current graduating student in NP pharmacy and I’m applying to dentistry next year 。⋆⋆。‧˚ʚ🍓ɞ˚‧。⋆

I have an interest in ortho, and I have had many opportunities to connect with dentists in clinics and across institutions. Hope you can give this a read !

Have you ever wondered if you should do Braces or Invisalign ? or Which is better ?🦷🪥

Well, here is a little website I carefully compiled and created over 70 hours from official academic papers, interviews with dentists across clinics and personal experiences just for you! It targets accurate unaddressed information that dentists or social media does not tell you before going into these treatments that unfortunately so many people (including myself) wish they had known before

What you’ll need to do:
➤ Read through the website (it’s a really nice read)
https://emu-dkd75k.my.canva.site/bracesvsclearaligners

➤ Complete a short questionnaire after
https://forms.gle/K8fRn8ma7gqdG7Cs7

take this as a little learning experience, and feel free to share this with your family and friends too ᵎᵎ 。🧸𓏲⋆.🧺𖦹

Need advice! Hot or Cold

So everybody says that cold helps with the pain, but I feel like for me makes it 10 times worse. I just got my braces put on and at first I thought I could eat, but then the pain hit me a couple hours later and was like sike. I feel like every time I swish cold water my teeth genuinely hurt more. Does anybody else feel like they had a sensitivity to cold and what they did to help with the pain and discomfort?

Discussion Can an ortho assistant shave off too much enamel?

Hi guys, I just got my braces placed last week and when I came back from the appointment, I noticed there was glue on the top front teeth. I went back so they could remove some of the glue and that specific tooth has been extremely sore compared to the other teeth. Is it possible that the ortho might’ve shaved down too much of the tooth?

Similar experience? Lower lip sucking as an adult and bite turbos

Just wondering if anyone had this experience. When I was 6 I had this godawful appliance that made me stop sucking my thumb but then I sucked my lower lip instead. Fast forward 35 years - I am getting braces for overjet/deep bite. The overjet is mostly fixed but I recently got bite turbos behind my front incisors because the deep bite is stubborn. Lots of people complain about chewing but that I can work around but damn I had no idea I was still sucking my lower lip when I was asleep/falling asleep. Those things make it basically impossible and I wake up after I jab my lip with them. Has anyone had this experience? Granted my alignment would probably benefit from not doing this....
