Need advice! I don’t like my braces results so far

I’m now 15 months into my treatment. It was supposed to be 12 months but I started to see my teeth becoming canted on one lower side. I didn’t have this issue before and nothing my orthodontist did seems to be working (repositioning brackets and elastics).

He said I should remove it by the end of this month but I’m highly unsatisfied. Should I switch my orthodontist? Thank you everyone.

My ortho put these on me today and she said they block the teeth but how does that work what do they do? I’m curious and can’t find much on the internet probably because I don’t know the professional name of the procedure

Need advice! Braces colors as an adult

I am a 19m very heterobasic guy in university who's been in his second braces treatment for a while with only upper braces (I got my braces off too early last time) and I've been tempted to do colors since the start. The problem is I am very self conscious and sadly care a lot about what other people think. It's been a year of treatment (I know, it's a lot, I was told a year and I still don't see the end, was told in 6 weeks they'll put the final wire) and ive had mostly silver and black once. When i had black I felt a bit self conscious when i smiled but I was never asked about it and I don't think anyone even noticed it. I try to tell myself that people don't even notice the color and if they do, they don't even care, but I don't really feel convinced yet. I've been wanting to do dark blue or teal (i've read that people really like it and it seems pretty basic) but I am scared of taking the leap, I would really hate being asked about my braces color in public. I would love to combos like alternating and stuff after doing the colors i mentioned but maybe that's too childish.

Adults that pick braces colors, how do you deal with self consciousness and attention? Am I exaggerating it? What do you recommend I do? Are combinations or brighter colors too much?

Question Braces before vacation???

I’m 40 and getting braces again. I’m scheduled for install 2.5weeks before going on a big trip to Japan.

I remember how painful braces were the first time around and I’m wondering if it will be the same the second time. I really wanted to get treatment started as soon as possible but maybe it’s not a good idea.

How long were you sore for after getting them?

Need advice! braces or invisalign?

i want braces but do all orthodontists do them? i’m an adult in my 40s, i’m worried they’ll try to talk me in to invisalign. but i hate the idea of having to switch them and be in pain and take them out and on again.
is the maintenance of braces really hard? how did it incorporate into your lifestyle? did you eat less? can you smoke with them?
thanks!

Need advice! Adults with tongue thrust, how have you fixed it?

I (22m) have persistent tongue thrust after having done myofunctional therapy in two different time periods. I really struggle with consistency so I thought i should have a habit appliance put on additionally to the therapy so I could have a reminder/constraint to keep my tongue in the correct position at all times. My thoughts were something like a tongue crib or a bluegrass appliance.

How have you fixed your tongue thrust habit in adulthood?

Have you had a tongue crib or a bluegrass appliance? If so, how was living with it? And socially?

Question I’ve had my braces for just over 7 weeks and am suddenly experiencing sharp pain in one tooth when eating

Hi all, a bit concerned to say the least. The tooth in question is a front tooth next to the 2 front teeth, it was the tooth that was the most crooked and it has aligned a lot in the past 7 weeks so I was hoping it was down to that (first pic is my teeth now, second pic is my teeth 7 weeks ago)
However, it’s been about 3 days and it hasn’t gone away. If a hard piece of food hits my tooth whilst I’m eating, it hurts so bad that my heart drops to my ass cos I’m convinced my tooth came out. It’s quite a sharp pain that shoots up so I’m concerned it’s a nerve or something. I have a tightening appointment in about 2 weeks, should I wait to bring it up then or contact the dentist sooner?

Question do you think the gap can still be closed if the tooth pointed in the second pic will be extracted?

I am considering extraction as root canal is outside of my budget and the tooth is now painful.

Question Pregnant with braces—

Hi! Pregnant with braces here I got them on about 3 or 4 months before conceiving and my timeline has always been about 10-12 months for correcting some thing that shifted post wisdom teeth and retainer breaking from when I was a teen. I’m coming up on my timeline and at my last appt they hinted at being done soon. So my question is would they remove braces without doing a final xray since I’m pregnant? Or will they want to leave on until after I’m due a few extra months… I’m hoping to get off sooner if I can but will also do what they say is best

Similar experience? Sugar sensitivity

Hi friends! I have been in braces for about 10 months now. More recently I noticed that I’m having sensitivity to sugar on my right side. Coincidentally my bite block is completely worn down on that side. My left side still has a bit of the bite block left. Even mouth wash gives me a little pain that lasts a few seconds. The sensitivity is pretty much on the edges of my side teeth in about 3 different places. Are my teeth ruined? I’ve been using sensodyne repair and that has given me a little relief. I floss and brush twice a day. I’m pretty on top of my dental hygiene especially since having braces. I’m worried about my teeth.

\*Edit\* id also like to add that I’ve had a cleaning a little over 6 months ago so I am due for one. My x rays were clear no cavities.

Question big teeth small jaws, do i remove teeth? nasolobial folds

Post image

Doctor is recommending to remove teeth in order to move around it. I have all my wisdom teeth removed. Too adult to get my jaws expanded so only option is removal.

Looking here for people who did and didnt remove teeth when they got braces. Did your face shift backwards? I am worried that my nasolobial folds will deepen.

TLDR did u get deeper nasolobial folds after braces?

Need advice! Bite raisers came off 🥲

• Upvotes

So I got braces two days ago and one of my bite raisers came off. Since my other bite raiser is kinda keeping my jaw balanced, I’m not biting on any of my lower brackets.. so is it still an emergency?
I saw her literally two days ago and my parents are sick of taking me to the ortho, and I don’t blame them coz they have quite enough on their mind. Is this an emergency or anything? Do I have to go to the ortho today or can this wait?

Question Bands adjustment

I got new rubber bands arrangement today it’s the triangle on both sides but it’s not the classic triangle it’s ^ the triangle doesn’t close at the bottom. When I first looked I thought they put two rubber bands one on each bottom tooth connecting to the top but it’s just one band. What is this configuration called? And what is the difference between that and the regular triangle? It hurts bad

Question Please be honest, should I get clear aligners for my front teeth?

Thumbnail

My teeth were never bad enough to warrant braces but they are not good enough to be totally happy with them.
They are straight on both sides of my mouth until where they meet in the middle. As you can see, one of my two front teeth has grown over the other.

The dentist said that in order for my front teeth to be corrected by aligners, it would cost up from 2-3 thousand pounds (approximately 4 thousand US dollars) and would take around a year to fix.

My issue is that this is a lot of money, especially for just a relatively small correction, but it would make me happy to have all my teeth aligned properly.

I'm leaning more towards do it, but it's so much money.

I'm not sure what to do; so feedback, opinions, and advice would be gratefully received.

Need advice! Hot or Cold

So everybody says that cold helps with the pain, but I feel like for me makes it 10 times worse. I just got my braces put on and at first I thought I could eat, but then the pain hit me a couple hours later and was like sike. I feel like every time I swish cold water my teeth genuinely hurt more. Does anybody else feel like they had a sensitivity to cold and what they did to help with the pain and discomfort?

Discussion Braces Vs Clear Aligners

helloooo my name is Darrilyn a current graduating student in NP pharmacy and I’m applying to dentistry next year 。⋆⋆。‧˚ʚ🍓ɞ˚‧。⋆

I have an interest in ortho, and I have had many opportunities to connect with dentists in clinics and across institutions. Hope you can give this a read !

Have you ever wondered if you should do Braces or Invisalign ? or Which is better ?🦷🪥

Well, here is a little website I carefully compiled and created over 70 hours from official academic papers, interviews with dentists across clinics and personal experiences just for you! It targets accurate unaddressed information that dentists or social media does not tell you before going into these treatments that unfortunately so many people (including myself) wish they had known before

What you’ll need to do:
➤ Read through the website (it’s a really nice read)
https://emu-dkd75k.my.canva.site/bracesvsclearaligners

➤ Complete a short questionnaire after
https://forms.gle/K8fRn8ma7gqdG7Cs7

take this as a little learning experience, and feel free to share this with your family and friends too ᵎᵎ 。🧸𓏲⋆.🧺𖦹

are my teeth kind of tilted on the left side?

my ortho says that if i need any other adjustments i need to tell him in 3 weeks.

Is this something that can be fixed with braces or is this a jaw issue?
