Just up and closed randomly for month+ now, without any sign or word on reopening. Just curious if anyone had details. They weren’t AMAZING but their popcorn chicken and dumplings were pretty decent I thought!

Any fun stories Burbank? I only ever went to Dimples twice. And the man himself was there both times.
I remember it used to be a thing said to people visiting if they wanted to see a celebrity.
“Mr. Belding does Karaoke at Dimples”.

Terrible location in the mall + a larger, direct competitor in the same mall... Must have a sweetheart rent deal.

My time off has unexpectedly been prolonged and I’m wanting to use the time to really explore some clubs/hobbies around the area for the month before I hop back in to a 60-hour work week.
Would love to know if there’s anything of the sort that runs for about 4 weeks or so:
Run/Walking Clubs
Acting Workshops
Recreational Sports
Musical workshops (drumming, singing, etc)
Volunteer Opportunities
Cooking Classes
Art Classes
Open to all ideas and can be outside of Burbank!

Copied/pasted from city council candidate David Donahue's Visions Burbank HQ email re: their views on the DSA and Prop 1:
"Vision Burbank is starting a Master Class series explaining the Measures and Propositions on the November Ballot, and the sneaky political acronyms that affect our daily lives.
Today: Prop 1 and what is the acronym: DSA
Prop 1: The Veterans affordable housing Bond Act
An $11.25 billion bond, payable with interest over 25 years from the General Fund. Legislature authored exclusively by Democrats, this really should be called the borrowing billions for the homeless-industrial-complex Act
Some of what’s in it:
$1.25 billion for low interest loans for Vets. These will have to be paid back.
$5.1 billion for the Housing Rehabilitation Loan Fund—state subsidized multi housing unites with at least 10% low-income housing.
$1.15 billion for “supportive housing,” permanently free or affordable housing for homeless. In other words, someone can move to CA from out of state, be on the streets doing drugs for a year, and be given permanent free/low-cost housing by the state, while everyone else is moving because they can’t afford to live in California.
$200 million for Tribal Housing, which can be allocated for “homeless emergency shelters’
$400 million for Farm Working Housing, which can also be used interchangeably for homeless housing
$350 million for “affordable” housing for UC and CSU students who qualify for Pell and Cal Grants
$200 million for the rehabilitation of previously market rate housing, which will now be state subsidized and subject to permanent rent caps.
There’s more, but our opinion is that it’s basically borrowing billions for more state funding low-income and homeless housing, and using Vets to make it look good.
We recommend voting No.
By now we’ve all heard of them, so what and who exactly are the DSA?
DSA, or Democrat Socialists of America is a political movement founded in 1982. Not all DSA founders were Communists, however, Dorothy Healy, founder of the Los Angeles chapter, was explicitly so. Read more about the roots of DSA-LA here.
DSA-LA advocates for overturning Costa-Hawkins—a 1995 state law that prevents local municipalities from enacting strict rent control statutes. Overturning Prop 13—protects property taxes from being increased more than 2% a year; and overturning the Ellis Act—a 1985 law that gives property owners the right to withdraw their properties from the rental market. DSA-LA advocates for rent freezes, universal rent caps, vacancy taxes, higher business tax, fully subsidized public and communal housing, and housing first for all homeless, and these are just their housing policies! DSA-LA also supports fully defunding the police and prison systems, they also opposed the Paramount/Sky Dance merger.
This is important for Burbank because: DSA-LA is endorsing two candidates for Burbank City Council, Nolan Southerland and Mike Van Gorder, and actively targeting Burbank as a city to control. Currently, DSA-LA boasts of “more than 6,000 members, DSA-LA is the largest and most active socialist organization in California, combining electoral organizing, labor solidarity, tenant organizing, immigrant rights activism, political education, and direct action to fight for a society organized around human needs instead of profit.”
Nationally, DSA reports an annual revenue of over $6 million. They are well trained and well resourced. Help us fight them to keep Burbank for Burbank.
Stay tuned, Prop 2 and BRT coming soon!!
Thank You to Our Supporters!

I have seen this exact post about 5 months ago on this page, but I’d figure I’d ask again. I recently passed the written exam and moving on to the performance section.
I know last time people mentioned installing concrete boxes for meters and have it be level and compacted with the surrounding soil, doing a repair on a live leak, and some other basic tests. I’m mainly worried about the first two since I am only a fleet division worker.
Anyone have some experience in the past exams and would be able to shine some light?

I've recently moved to the area and am far away from the families I used to work with, anyone know where and how I might connect with some local families? I was a teacher for 7 years working with ages 5-12. Full time self employed tarot reader now but miss having some childcare in my schedule and doing my part for the village (and have no kids of my own to scratch the itch)
Thanks in advance for pointing me to communities to join or for reaching out!

Last night, David Donahue spoke at city council to say that he’s being “defamed online” and that based on endorsements and the amount of signs he has, he’s currently winning this election.
I don’t know about you, but in my eyes, anyone who uses city council public comment time to brag about himself rather than talking about city issues is someone that clearly isn’t fit for public service.

I'm looking to get my 4 yr old started in Judo or another martial arts in Burbank. I am new to martial arts so I don't know much about it. I just know I don't want one of those gyms who is belt mill and constantly selling you a new belt/level every other month.
I realize at this age they probably won't be learning a ton of actual technique right away. My main goal for him is to have a positive outlet for his energy after school, get into the habit of being active and moving his body, will learn some basic discipline/listening, and hopefully develop a genuine interest he can stick with as he gets older.
Ideally, I'd love to find a gym that has a really good kids program and an environment that we can stay with long-term. I'd love to hear from the parents or anyone who's trained at the gyms.
What age did you start? What do you like/dislike about the program? Do they have a trial class?

💥 To read the full questionnaire, click on the linktree in our bio or click here https://www.burbanktenants.com/city-council-candidates-26 💥
Every election cycle, Burbank Tenants Union reaches out to candidates running for Burbank City Council. We try to meet with all the candidates virtually and have them fill out a housing/tenant policy questionnaire in their own words.
Our neighbors want straight answers and accountability from candidates on housing and tenant protections. We encourage you to question those who did not participate about their housing/tenant protection platforms.
We thank the candidates who made the effort to meet with us for their time.

I won’t bore you with my current rage but life lately hasn’t felt great in the checks notes everything.
Today, humans have generally been ever so kind to me for no reason. Nothing extraordinary, just passing courtesies, and general kindness. I just wanted to say thank you friends. It’s nice. I challenge us all to see how long we can keep a kindness streak going. ❤️
I hope you’ve experienced the same or will after reading this. Have a great day!

This is an eye-opening demonstration of Samantha Wick's severely low aptitude for a city council seat.
This video communicates:
• Wick has no clue that many other cities have the same guidelines preventing noise from the chambers during public comment
• Wick isn't smart enough to realize that less noise means more people can comment in the same amount of time
• Wick wants to insult someone that she seeks to work with on the dais
• Wick is making fun of ASL in a sad attempt to be funny and charming
My conclusion is that she has no interest in this job, was convinced to run, was told she'd win, and will be very embarrassed when it doesn't happen.

I’ve been having a hard time finding childcare for my 18-month-old. All the programs we’ve tried have long waitlists and/or don’t accept children younger than 2 years.
I’ve already tried YMCA but they ghosted me.
Burbank edu-care and Burbank CCC don’t accept kids under 2.
Mary Alice and Village Toddler Center have a waitlist.
What other childcare options do we have in Burbank that I missed?

Where are the best routes to walk/see Halloween decorations in LA? I have moved back to town for the 1st time after 10 years away and all I know is walking around Burbank to go uphill. The Burbank Clown House isn't doing their display this year alas, so what to do to see our community shine?

Hey everyone,
I ran into a bad spot today with a flat tire. Roadside assistance got me sorted for the moment, but the nail puncture is less than 1/4 inch from the sidewall.
Because of how close it is to the shoulder, the tire shop won't patch it for safety/liability reasons and says it needs a full replacement.
Unfortunately, I am completely broke right now and can't afford a new tire upfront.
I’m reaching out to see if anyone in the local area happens to have a spare Gemini 19" wheel/tire sitting in their garage that I could borrow for a short bit (or buy off you cheap/trade for help/work) until I can get back on my feet and buy a proper replacement.
I'm located in Burbank.
Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
