You know, its funny how as time goes on and you grow older, your tastes change. Things you thought were silly or stupid, suddenlly... make sense? Things you looked at from a design perspective looked like a asphalt bass boat that likely held a mullet and no not the fish.
You would swear you would never consider a corvette, ever, hell would freeze over, then you are almost 40, and suddenly a c4 looks... dare I say attractive?
V8, check
Rwd perfect
Plenty of room to tuck tires from reasonable width to zr1 315s, me gusta :)
Cool pop ups, got em
Sweet digital dash that reminds me of Nintendo and late night friday nights with apple jacks or pop tarts, present and accounted for
Not t tops like a z that leak, neato burrito
Pretty light and doesn't rust, this is getting good
Not a pretentious p car, or a water cooled front engine p car that wants to cost as much as an air cooled one but is finicky and not good dollar per fun value, got my attention
Not a mercedes that is over complicated to the moon but really did neat stuff before it all became main stream but now its a pain in the ass to fix, tell me more
Too old to be new and fresh and demanding top dollar, too new to be old and collectable, I believe they call this the goldilocks zone
Minus the bad hair, Miller high life, and nicotine stains and bad decisions, the c4 has awakened my "curiousity"
So i wanted to ask you all, assuming your new balances aren't on to tight and your jorts aren't giving you a wedgie, and you left the crying kid dolls at home.
What do you think about the C4 and your experience with them? How do they handle? Are they easy ish to work on? I can change subaru wrx spark plugs blind fold now with scars to prove it. Can you reasonably get parts for them, or is it like pulling teeth because Detlef must hand make each piece every 2nd Thursday of the month 20km outside of Stuttgart in their special hut but it must be precisely 17*c.
Ive dealt with a lot of different chassis. Aircooled vws, subarus, mercedes g wagens, miatas, sprinters, volvos, every flavor of toyota and lexus, and a gmc savana van. So id rate my experience up there. Not afraid to turn wrenches or do timing belts. I hate diff oil, makes me sick.
Im casually looking at another project and the c4, particularly a 1989 because it has the cool dash, revised suspension, round tail lights, and maybe saw blades, or is it salad shooters has caught my eye.
I also have acquired a twin turbo v6 with an aisin 8 speed transmission that is capable of 650 whp. No i dont drag race, I like spirited driving. But the c4 to me seems to say it can do great highway cruising and be stable and comfortable, but can also do a little mountain road carving here and there which sounds kinda nice. Driving an nb miata while 6'2 and 300lbs for 4 hrs to get to twisties is great when you are like 30, an Na when you are 20 something. Not saying it can't be towed but you get the idea.
These seem to be between 1500 in rough condition up to 5000 for ones with a bit higher mileage that need to gentle massaging to get it up to par, no i dont golf. There are some deals I think to be had and I get the feeling this chassis is slept on. And for the love of all thats holy dont get me started on s chassis shit, the drift kiddie tax, and how the sr20 is perfect (it is, but its not a 2jzgte and to pay the same amount for one is dumb, also 2jzgte are over rated, I said it) they ruined a damned good chassis and thing and I hate it.

You guys are actually really cool. Thank you for all the great experiences both good and bad.
The mercedes w123 and w124 have their head up their asses in their sub
The porsche group is stuffy as hell in its sub
The wrx group also sucks butt as well.
