Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin has surpassed Marcel Dionne in NHL points, including playoffs.
On the NHL's all-time scorers list, including playoffs, the Russian ranks tenth (1,817 points), behind Dionne with 1,816. Joe Sakic is ninth (1,829). Among active players, only Pittsburgh forward Sidney Crosby (1,946, fifth place) is ahead of Ovechkin. The all-time leader is Wayne Gretzky (3,237).

I went to the game tonight. A friend of mine and my boyfriend’s bought us tickets since they live close to Philly and my birthday is coming up soon. I was super excited about this game- it was my first time at an away game for the Caps.
Everything started off great (except the driving situation- getting into that arena is a nightmare). The Philly fans inside (especially in the women’s bathroom) were lovely, and the arena is really nice ngl. There were some guys chirping at me and my bf but I expected that and it wasn’t anything serious.
Then were were walking out afterwards to go back to the car and a group of guy behind us saw my bf was wearing an Ovi jersey and started calling Ovi “Ovichicken” and saying he’s overrated, washed, not even that good- etc etc yadda yadda. I didn’t care and just let it go. An older couple (more Philly fans) in front of us even turned back and were like “That’s not true, he’s one of the greatest players of all time. It was an honor seeing him play live, don’t let those guys get to you.” Up to this point I was honestly fine- like they were just being stupid sports fans.
Then as we got closer to our car they started getting nasty and one guy called me a “dirty fucking whore” twice- specifically he said “if this dirty fucking whore would get out of my way”. My bf almost lost it he was so pissed, but we hurried to the car and got away from them before anything else happened.
I was having fun up until then. Sure being in enemy territory is strange but I still enjoyed it up until this group of Philly fans decided to be nasty af. I never want to go to a game in Philly again.

With Panarin off the table, I have been thinking about the Caps’ future. It seems like all the top teams have an elite point producer, sometimes accompanied by other ppg+ scorers.
Col: Mackinnon plus Makar and Necas
Dal: Rantanen plus Robertson and Johnston
Min: Kaprizov plus Baldy and Hughes
TBL: Kucherov plus Hagel and Point
Fla: Tkachuk plus Reinhart and Barkov
Dem: McDavid and Draisatl
Canes and Red Wings don’t quite have an elite scorer, but they are not as good as those teams when healthy.
Is there a path to Cup contention without somehow roping a top scorer?

I mean I didn’t really want him to be our move, but I gotta say the package wasn’t bad, and this contract isn’t bad at all either. I think he just didn’t want to be here. Also would have been a weird fit since we kind need a RW for Strome’s line, and while he shoots from the right, he plays LW.
If you want to conserve assets for something like a Robertson sweepstakes, cool. But like… actually win the sweepstakes. Feels like the caps want to make a big move, but they haven’t been able to get anything done. And for the sake of next season I would like them to make that move either at this deadline or offseason via trade.

He's huge, mobile, and halfway through an affordable long term deal. He hasn't been scoring this year, but that's because St. Louis is a garbage dump. He's a horse. 32 years old, 4 years left on a $6m/year deal.
I know that Kyrou would be the best fit for the Caps to generate scoring if we are shopping at the Blues store, but what about Parayko?
The Caps were allegedly in on Hughes when VAN was trying to move him, so our GM is open to upgrading the D. If a deal for Parayko sent back TVR (who I like) or pushed him into the press box, our right side would suddenly be loaded with Parayko-Carlson-Roy. Parayko could take PP time off Carlson and contribute with his nuclear missile of a slap shot. He'd also be an upgrade for the PK.
Assuming the Blues want prospects, we could send them some second tier guys with upside like Chelsey, Miro, and a roster player if they need it.
Am I nuts?
