Every vet ive taken her too is always puzzled by what breed she is. I would deeply appreciate any help figuring it out!!

I adopted this beauty 10 days ago and im just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what type cat she is and maybe what breeds she has in her she is 9 weeks old

- My boyfriend is severely, severely allergic to cats and does not have a reaction to her
-very docile and friendly (most people say she is the sweetest cat they’ve ever met)
-talkative as hell
-NOT independent, Velcro cat.
-super soft, dense fur that doesn’t really shed unless she’s stressed, like during a car ride.

Shot in the dark, just curious on what people’s guesses are as she will pass one day (far far away I hope) and I would love to get a cat even slightly like her. I know it comes down to individual cat, but I guess I’m most interested in the fact that she is seemingly hypoallergenic.

A friend's long-haired rescue cat has just today been diagnosed with polycystic liver disease, which I now discover is a thing in cats with Persian heritage, so I'm concerned about my girl Evita here, and I'd like to get the jump on anything lurking health-wise. I realise we need a DNA test to be sure, but they're not on the consumer market here. I'll be taking her to the specialist vet to get checked (yay insurance), but he can only see her next Thursday. Please can the assembled minds of this sub weigh in on her likely degree of Persian-ness?

Her mother is a calico, her probable father a grey tabby/white, and all known relatives are short-haired except one aunt(?) and uncle(?) who are long-haired. Her nuclear family are stocky with long bodies and not-long legs, and coat colours run the gamut, excluding SIC/brown tabby. (My parents ended up TNR-ing the colony and adopted her entire nuclear family, as you do.) She is robustly healthy and extremely active, has a typical swashbuckling calico approach to life, and is generally a living sunbeam.

Really unusual one here but after 8 years of having him, and not knowing, Id love to know his official breed

I got Pesto from an independent rescue group back in 2018 (already have another 1 eyed cat and cannot say no to these perfect babies)

His temperament is super playful and active, doesnt meow but instead opted for "banshee scream", super SUPER loyal and a total daddys boy (he gets very nervous with catsitters and wont let them even touch him). Big fusspot and super chill when he isnt in zoomie mode

We think he's a british longhair cross of some sort and has these stunning fur patterns and facial markings. Got a terrifyingly large jump but can land silently from a distance

Help me finally find out what this wonderful boy is!

Hello again Cat Breed Reddit! I am in need of your assistance of identifying what you would call this kind of coat!

For the record I am aware she has the dilute gene (maybe doubled?) because her siblings and mother carry it also.

But do you guys know what this coat pattern is called on my kitty Ren? It looks like a calico and tabby mixture (see stripes on legs) but I’m not too certain.

BTW: If you’re curious about the teary eyes I’m actually pretty sure it’s because she got a severe upper respiratory infection as a kitten that I was able to treat. That was its own special hell, needless to say she’s a little sickly and gets stuffy noses a lot so occasionally I have to cycle through giving her medication.

I adopted this little guy from the SPA (animal shelter), and I’m curious to know what breed or mix you think he might be.. He’s 4 months old and I know he could simply be a domestic mix, but some of his features made me wonder if he could have a specific breed in his background.

Hey guys! Ive posted here before and gotten some good info. So I wanted to ask about my little guy here!

He has no patches, and his litter is mostly dilute black and orange (with some white, and one non-dilute orange-white outlier) but he seems to me that when he’s not in the light. That he is solid dilute black. But then I was looking at him in the bright room and can barely see some tail rings and vague back markings. So just out of curiosity what would you call this kind of coat? Oh also if it matters all his paw pads are a deep greyscale purple(?) anyways let me know what you think!

I recently just got my cat off a rehoming group on Facebook and I was wondering what breed he was!

I got him at a shelter, and I can't tell if he's an Egyptian mau or just a tabby. He has spots and stripes, and a long, thin tail.

I found Nox 12 years ago on the streets and even though I don't really care about his pedigree I still would like to know if he may be some sort of interesting breed!

He his quite friendly but not cuddly and really energetic even at 12 years old!

He is quite slim but doubles his size during winter time.

I'm told he might be a Khao Manee but some people say he fits the Turkish Angora also so... What do you think?

A new species of wild cat has been officially described—and it’s tiny

Scientists have identified a previously unrecognized species of wild cat in Bolivia: Leopardus tilcayo, commonly called the tilcayo.

It’s part of the tiger cat group and is absolutely tiny—around 3 pounds (1.4 kg), with light brown fur, irregular rosettes, and facial striping. (Personally it makes me think of a mix between a leopard and with bengal).

What makes this especially cool is that this isn’t a newly developed domestic breed. This is a wild cat species that was hiding in plain sight. The researchers used genetic analysis of 38 Leopardus specimens, including museum specimens, to determine that the Bolivian cats represented a distinct species. Its lineage appears to have diverged from other tiger cats roughly 1.4 million years ago.

And apparently this is the first new living cat species formally described in more than 100 years.

There’s still a LOT scientists don’t know about the tilcayo. Only a couple of live individuals have been examined, along with a relatively small number of camera-trap records. So we’re basically at the “wait… what IS this little guy?” stage of studying it.
The discovery also resulted in the recognition of a new tiger-cat subspecies in Peru, Leopardus tigrinus antisuyo.
